I'm going to start with High Street Kensington. A classic start, if I do say so myself.

So in the space of 24 hours we seem to have had the closed lines rule, the Elizabeth line rule and now the Airtrack rule and the tram rule. Four rules in one day has not been seen since the ill-fated Prague tournament in 1997. The look on the Major's face at the time was a picture.

I think to calm down our thoughts a short move to Kent House before Sunday lunch will suffice.

WalkingInTheAir13 · 17/11/2019 21:15

What a great memory you have @ForalltheSaints!

I too, remember that previously unheard of Four Rules in One Day. And not just the look on the Major's face but the unmerciful screams coming from the Prague audience. *

So in memory of that fateful game, I will play Seven Sisters.

ForalltheSaints · 18/11/2019 08:41

I think someone played Tottenham Hale early on in that tournament, long before the four rules were played. So I will too honour the memory.

So for the sake of north London sporting balance (as agreed at the Convention in ‘32, and what a weekend that was) it has to be

Arsenal

ForalltheSaints · 18/11/2019 13:28

Other north London clubs are available to move to, and so I move to Leyton for a short walk to Brisbane Road.

DadDadDad · 20/11/2019 13:06

This is my lucky day - those moves set me up perfectly for an asymmetric unmatched counter-shunt without crossing a diagonal, so not only do I move to

Dagenham Heathway

but if this fall out the way I expect, I could win in five moves!

FromIbizaToTheNorfolkMaud · 20/11/2019 19:17

I think not, D^3.

St Albans

DadDadDad · 20/11/2019 20:44

Sneaky, Maud. So, OK, that pushes out my winning path a little, but I think that just means I can do it in five moves from your play, although I'll take a bit of a risk with

Waterloo East

ForalltheSaints · 20/11/2019 21:39

A move that is almost not a move- Waterloo underground

ForalltheSaints · 23/11/2019 11:21

A move to Bank via the Waterloo and City line.

tectonicplates · 23/11/2019 11:30

Mornington Crescent.

I win!

but I think that just means I can do it in five moves from your play,

unless some clever person does it in four... Hmm

Very impressive, tectonic. I am bit dubious that a gyration over two diagonals when in a semi-hexagonal configuration is possible, but there may be something in the Madrid rules about the Knightly-Fox technique on that. Maybe we could have an adjudication from someone with more expertise - I'm a laughably ignorant amateur. Confused

DadDadDad · 23/11/2019 11:56

And I've just realised that you've not played since your OP - that's a sneaky bit of lurking on your own thread. Grin

FromIbizaToTheNorfolkMaud · 25/11/2019 09:59

Well I never. Tectonicplates certainly played the long game there. Reminds me of the closing moves at the Budapest playoffs in ‘64, and what a controversy they caused.

Shall we pause to recover our strength and then start a new game?

ForalltheSaints · 25/11/2019 17:38

I think that the final move may be invalid under the 1997 rules. Where the final move has to be outside drinking hours.

So Old Street

DadDadDad · 25/11/2019 19:59

Sorry, Saints, that section of the 1997 rules was relaxed after the reform of alcohol licensing regulations. I can't see any objection to tectonic's win from that angle. Maybe you could start the new game?
