What's YOUR hobby?

After the (most recent) thread slamming partners who cycle, I wondered how many of us have hobbies or interests we have time to indulge in? What are they? Mine would mainly be gaming. 'Nice' PC games like Sims /2point hospital/Unravel/Planet zoo - nothing where the object is to charge round killing everything else. I love bodyboarding too but I'm on the wrong coast for it!

I crochet and listen to audio books. At the same time.

valleysareus · 28/09/2019 10:40

Running.

OverthinkingThis · 28/09/2019 10:41

Gaming for me too op, except in my case mostly games where the object is to charge round killing everything else

allabouteve1 · 28/09/2019 10:47

Sewing whilst listening to podcasts. I get to do it a couple of hours a week.

HicDraconis · 28/09/2019 10:49

Karate and playing the harp are the main ones. I adventure race occasionally.

sheshootssheimplores · 28/09/2019 10:50

I don’t have time for one of those. Mumsnetting?

Maneandfeathers · 28/09/2019 11:11

Horses.

Stupidly expensive and time consuming but not something that can easily be gotten out of Blush

SheChoseDown · 28/09/2019 11:15

I love gaming. Used to play a lot of final fantasy, Spyro, sims, black and white, devil may cry, sim city.... Anything really.
Nowadays it's usually just phone gaming but I still enjoy it.
I love listening to Podcasts, I have two in particular where they discuss horror films and I'm happy to support one via patreon.
Also audio books!!!

SconeofDestiny · 28/09/2019 11:19

Sewing and volunteering.

Monsterdogs · 28/09/2019 11:30

My dog is the focus of my hobbies. I do..
Flyball (dog sport)
Cooking (for my dog)
Hillwalking (with my dog)
Taking photos/videos (of my dog)

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/09/2019 11:36

I love to learn languages and spent a lot of time on that.
I knit and read / listen to audio books.
I dream about learning an instrument but I am not musical.

I would not mind if DH had a time consuming hobby as he is working far too hard. But then he does what he loves doing and is very good and successful at it.

CroissantsAtDawn · 28/09/2019 11:37

Swimming

FurrySlipperBoots · 28/09/2019 11:38

@ Monsterdogs

Awwww! Border Collie?

I enjoy audiobooks too! You can listen at the same time as doing everything else! I don't understand people who are happy to drive long distance without them.

The trouble with the gaming thing is that if you're not into 'kill everything that moves', decent quality games are really hard to come across. Playing the same ones over and over can get monotonous.

Running and walking. Whatever the weather im out. I don’t like being indoors.

mendokusai · 28/09/2019 11:46

cycling Grin

merryhouse · 28/09/2019 11:50

Karate (originally a whole-family hobby), bell-ringing (into which I
dragged persuaded the rest of them), singing.

Discussion forums on the Internet (MN is the latest in a line stretching back over 20 years) and cryptic crosswords.

... and if any of my acquaintance reads this they'll know its me...

I used to be into gaming a lot more than I am now, basically because I'm using an iPad and it is difficult to find something that hold my attention. I still enjoy it though. Reading, I'm a really fast reader and go through a lot of books. Walking, love it, especially out in the wilds.

Bucatini · 28/09/2019 12:07

Reading and running and wasting time on MN

nononever · 28/09/2019 12:08

I'm quite envious of those of you who are into arts and crafts. I really want to be but have no patience!

BarbaraofSeville · 28/09/2019 12:08

Hiking - I go for a proper walk in the hills most weekends - just doing something fairly local this afternoon due to shite weather this weekend.
Running/rucking (fast walking with a weighted backpack)
Reading
I mountain bike a bit with DP but aren't very good but quite like a bit of a potter around the woodland trails near us.
Scuba diving - DP and I do this on holiday abroad, but I also do it in the UK with a diving club.

We have no DCs though, so no-one's being neglected.

Hennysmommy · 28/09/2019 12:11

I haven't got one. Sad any suggestions? I work full time and have young DS so not much time for anything really.

TateWorm · 28/09/2019 12:11

Gaming with similar games to you OP. I also like to craft and go to Pilates and pole fitness classes.

soulrunner · 28/09/2019 12:12

Trail/mountain running and weight training although the balance between he two shifts. Mainly trail running. At the moment as have a few long races coming up. I just love the solitude.

Stayawayfromitsmouth · 28/09/2019 12:13

JuneSpoon · 28/09/2019 12:15
