What small things in life make you happy?

.. just that really. Last night i had a cheap bottle of wine and indulged in crappy telly for the eve and i were happy as a clam. What little things do you do, or buy yourself as a treat, for a cheeky burst of happy?

Walking in the woods with my dog...early morning, bit misty, damp smell of earth...and there's a deer just standing grazing. Bliss.

YouokHun · 26/09/2019 13:52

A cup of tea and a chat with my dog. I talk, she listens.

penelopewynter · 26/09/2019 13:52

This is a great thread..wish they came long more often; we all need it when our lottery numbers fail to come up again!

Walking the dogs, through the woods or across the fields with not one other soul in sight. One of the most simple yet one of the most enjoyable things in the world and free too! Oh that first cup of tea of the day and just getting the gardening bug too...

Confuseddotcotton · 26/09/2019 14:01

Feeding the birds, we have a number visit us regularly and it costs us a fortune in food but it’s lovely to watch.

Walking the dog, cuddling the dog, playing with the dog, laughing at the dogs antics, I love my dog so much.

Friday night in with a takeaway, some wine and trashy tv. My work can be stressful and long hours, so when Friday comes I just want to relax in my living room.

Bacon sandwich and fresh orange juice on a Saturday morning, eaten whilst watching the birds, and with the dog staring at me waiting for the bacon rind to come his way.

It's my day off tomorrow so my happy list today has been

Cooked breakfast
Watching an hour of trash tv on TLC
Deep hair conditioning treatment and face mask while I tidy around.
Mess about with the cat.
Bubble bath
Clean pjs
Netflix afternoon

Zaphodsotherhead · 26/09/2019 14:10

Going out running with my dog on a day off, looking at the countryside around me and feeling so lucky to live where I live.

Also, I'm on a fairly stringent diet, but have one day a week 'off'. That day I am so happy I can eat chocolate or cake or pretty much any old crap. If it coincides with a day off, I get two lots of happy in one!

firstimemamma · 26/09/2019 14:14

A nice candle in the evening
A good book from the library
Washing on the line on a sunny day
Chocolate
Cake
Bubble bath
Cups of tea
Painting my nails
Watching crap on tv

Simonsaysitschristmas · 26/09/2019 14:17

Putting on my pjs on a Friday evening and lighting my candles, so cosy and nothing better than knowing no alarm set for the next day.

Using a shower gel that reminds me of holiday (or a shampoo!)

Hearing a song for the first time and loving it (and then playing it on repeat until I get sick of it Grin)

confusedandemployed · 26/09/2019 14:22

My lovely, ancient dog. He's given me 17 years and counting of joy.
Cwtches with DD when she's in a cwtchy mood (rare).
A night in the pub / on the sofa with good friends.
Crocuses in spring - a real sign that the end of dingy dismal winter is in sight.

Clean socks.

YouJustDoYou · 26/09/2019 14:49

My children saying out of the blue that they love me. Getting notes from them with telling me they love me and their little pictures of us together. Worth more than anything in the world.

Douberry · 26/09/2019 14:52

A fresh hot cuppa.
Bad telly.
Naughty snacks. This morning I had hazelnut chocolate stuffed into a brioche bunShock
And since DS came along, having a few moments to myself when he naps...to do all the above.

Teacup34 · 26/09/2019 14:54

candles lit fire on snuggled up with a good book with chocolate of course!!
Going on a lovely walk in the countryside on a frosty day followed by tea and cake in a pretty tea room.

EssentialHummus · 26/09/2019 15:06

Some of the things my toddler comes out with at the moment. She's as challenging as the next two year old but seeing her proudly telling me a new word is so, so gratifying.

When dogs come over for a fuss. I particularly like giant, hairy, slobbery things.

A takeaway as a treat. I generally eat healthily but once in a while...

The first coffee of the day.

EssentialHummus · 26/09/2019 15:06

Oh, and being out in the garden with my headphones in, listening to music. I feel like a teenager again!

Shmithecat2 · 26/09/2019 15:14

Getting back in bed after the school run with a hot cup of tea, some toast, and watching reality TV on catchup.

SoyDora · 26/09/2019 15:18

A clean house
A sunny, frosty morning
A good book
A shoulder massage from DH
A cold glass of Sauvignon blanc!

SoyDora · 26/09/2019 15:19

Oh and white toast with butter

unknownn · 26/09/2019 16:34
