I have a true crime obsession. I cannot listen to podcasts when the DCs are around.

Please spam me with book recommendations, blogs and podcasts (I can put headphones in and ignore my family)

Currently listen to CrimeJunkies and My Favourite Murder.

books - all of Ann Rule

Sunnysidegold · 17/09/2019 16:37

Aw I was going to say mfm.

Have you looked at the other podcasts they reference? Like the Jensen and holes one?

Soola · 17/09/2019 16:37

Small Sacrifices - Ann Rule.

Book and the Farrah film are great.

Teacher's pet?

KnifeAngel · 17/09/2019 16:41

Eleanor Neale is good if you can get on YouTube.

Littlefish · 17/09/2019 16:49

Podcast - Casefile. There's about 120 episodes for you to binge listen!

Littlefish · 17/09/2019 16:50

"Teacher's Pet" is a fascinating listen, as is the first series of "Up and vanished"

Littlefish · 17/09/2019 16:50

Also, try "Serial" on Podcast.

FromEden · 17/09/2019 16:59

Casefile for sure. Also, I love last podcast on the left, they also cover other stuff too, not just true crime. Dirty john, Atlanta monster, missing and murdered:finding cleo (very sad too) are some others

CassetteTapes · 17/09/2019 17:31

Redhanded is brilliant, they are two British women and they have a great rapport with one another. They manage to be funny as well as taking about sensitive subjects.

ShippingNews · 17/09/2019 17:44

American podcaster Stephanie Harlowe does a great series on You Tube called Coffee and Crime Time . She covers cases from all over the world, and from both current and historical perspectives. She also does big stories on cults - I just listened to her on the Jonestown case and it was the best-researched piece that I've ever come across.

CanoeDoYouThinkYouAre · 17/09/2019 17:45

How do you feel about Crime Junkies recent plagiarism issues?

I'd have a bit more respect for them if they'd owned up and apologised (like In Sight did) but the silence is deafening! I'm not keen on how scripted it is, even the "wait, what" is scripted and edited in later.

Agree about Redhanded, it's one of the best around right now.

CanoeDoYouThinkYouAre · 17/09/2019 17:46

P.s My username is actually from a Redhanded episode. It actually made me laugh so much I had to pause.
I like True Crime Obsessed too.

PinkSubscriber · 17/09/2019 17:48

Generation why and uk true crime pod casts.

misslomi · 17/09/2019 17:49

Casefile is awesome!

SlothRunner · 17/09/2019 17:50

Casefile, small town dicks (this one is amazing!), red handed, mens rea,

RaspberryBeret1999 · 17/09/2019 17:50

They Walk Among Us podcast. I enjoy true crime podcasts too, but really should stop listening to them when out running. 🤣

CalamityJune · 17/09/2019 17:50

Someone Knows Something is quite good

Serial, obviously

S Town is not true crime as such but absolutely amazing.

Veterinari · 17/09/2019 18:03

Recommend:

Redhanded
Casefile
Rusty hinges
The evidence locker
Once upon a crime
Trace evidence

Def not CrimeJunkies

  • inane and overly scripted “Wait! What?” “Full body chills” etc Hmm
Plus they steal original material from other better podcasters and don’t Credit them. Or even own up to their plagiarism when called out on it.

Listen to the recent episode (27th August) of the podcast ‘ Let’s taco ‘bout true crime’ for info

EvilEdna1 · 17/09/2019 18:14

Sofakings
It's a fair cop - BBC iPlayer radio a bit different but if you like crime you'll enjoy it

Cheesymonster · 17/09/2019 18:42

Wine and Crime is good

SparklyMagpie · 17/09/2019 18:45

Not for everyone (although it's my favourite) but Last podcast on the left

itchyfinger · 17/09/2019 18:46

I've just started The Fall Line (produced by exactly right of MFM). I'm enjoying it.
