I have a true crime obsession. I cannot listen to podcasts when the DCs are around.

Please spam me with book recommendations, blogs and podcasts (I can put headphones in and ignore my family)

Currently listen to CrimeJunkies and My Favourite Murder.

@MadeForThis I just use the podcasts app on my iPhone. Lots of choice on there.

JesusDontWantMeForASunbeam · 17/09/2019 22:42

Wow!! Forgot I started this thread so thank you!!

I didn't know anything about the Crime Junkie plagiarism thing either.

Lots to download now to scare myself shitless with when walking the dog

Haha, yes, I listen to crime whilst walking the dog too, OP!
He gets much longer walks when I’ve got something gripping on the go!

Wine and Crime is the best! I love the Gals!.

I also really enjoyed 'Someone Knows something' and 'missing and murdered: finding Cleo'

SparklyMagpie · 18/09/2019 13:07

@MayorMumbum love it when I come across someone who actually knows let alone listens to LPOTL Grin I have a massive thing for Ben Kissel 😂

MayorMumbum · 18/09/2019 13:15

Haha Sparkly, I know, Ben is adorable but Henry makes me cackle. His impressions are always so hilarious. The series they did on Rasputin was so hysterical.
They just finished a UK live tour. Was gutted that I couldn't make it Sad.

Sorry, another lpotl fan butting in here. My crush is on Marcus 😆 . Is there a better, more thorough researcher out there? I dont think so!

MayorMumbum · 18/09/2019 21:25

Poor Marcus, he does most of the actual work on top of writing the book! I just finished the Bonnie and Clyde series today, it's so funny. My housework would go much slower without LPOTL.

Veterinari · 19/09/2019 23:27

Sorry I should also have mentioned ‘Court junkie’ brilliant, well researched cases you’ve never heard of, brilliantly delivered by Gillian.

Shoxfordian · 20/09/2019 06:21

There's a collection of true crime articles here

longform.org/sections/crime

I also love mfm
Generation why is really good too
Happy Face is interesting, it's about a woman whose Dad was the happy face killer in America

IndigoSkye · 20/09/2019 13:53

This is a great thread, I listened to lots of these but this has given me plenty more to listen to. I have a couple of others to add
'To live or die in LA'
'A killing on the cape'

ILikeMyCoffee · 20/09/2019 19:48

Parcast network do a few good ones, Female Criminals
Cults
Serial Killers
All rather self explanatory but there’s a lot of psychology stuff in them as well as the story.

Root of Evil and Cold are excellent but both are harrowing.

Ballad of Billy Balls - kind of crime but so much more than that, the effects of addiction, trauma etc.

Broken Harts - this is about the female couple who adopted the large family of black children and were abusing them and then drove off a cliff. Again, it’s harrowing, but well made and I listened to it to learn more about these kind of crimes and have awareness.

For a bit of light relief (I.e. no murder) then go for Swindled which has covered scams such as Charles Ingram cheating on Who Wants to be a Millionaire, the Nestle boycott of 1977, Herbalife etc

Cheesymonster · 22/09/2019 10:37

I am really enjoying the Redhanded podcast so thank you to those who recommended it.

I saw an advert for a new channel called Sky Crime but not sure when it's starting. Might be worth looking out for though if you have Sky TV.

liviadrusilla · 22/09/2019 11:03

Another recommendation for All Killa No Filla! It's the only podcast where I almost prefer the tangents to the crime story because the two hosts are so funny and their stories are really interesting (I gave up on MFM because it felt like the hosts just started rambling about their lives) - I also really respect that they don't do adverts (for ethical reasons) and they do a lot of charity collecting at their shows. But even without that it would be my favourite because it's so well told.

YoureAQuizardHarry · 27/09/2019 09:27

I've totally just found Last Podcast on the left..: 😂 it's funny but really gross!

SparklyMagpie · 27/09/2019 12:47

@YoureAQuizardHarry brilliant isn't it! 😂 Henry zabrowski's impressions are the best.

And if you ever get bored and want your brain completely frazzled, then give the creepy pasta episodes they do, ago 😂😂😂
