Am I the only one who loathes Strictly?

My mum loves it as does DP so they've ganged up on me. I loathe it.

OP posts:
WhatHaveIFound · 09/12/2019 17:57

I have no interest and am currently very annoyed that some of DD's friends are staying home to watch the final rather than coming to her birthday party!

TonTonMacoute · 09/12/2019 17:58

No. You would have to lobotomise me before I would watch it.

Boring boring boring and I haven't got a clue who most of the 'slebs' are anyway.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 09/12/2019 18:02

I hate all the celeb things. If I want to watch ballroom dancing why would I watch someone who is just learning?
Actually not even celebs it’s any of the competition things bake off etc I just have no interest 🤷‍♀️

PineappleDanish · 09/12/2019 18:06

We enjoy Strictly. And I sometimes watch Celebrity Masterchef.

I have no interest though in the jungle thing, or X-factor, or celebs skating, or any of those Love ISland / Kardashian / Essex things.

user764329056 · 09/12/2019 18:07

Hate it too, same old stuff every year and have no interest in so-called celebrities

billy1966 · 09/12/2019 19:25

Absolutely cannot see any attraction in this show or any of the talent shows.

Would rather stick a needle in my eye than sit down and watch them.

I appreciate loads love them, they are harmless TV, so each to their own.

RozHuntleysStump · 09/12/2019 19:28

There’s way too much guff and filler in it. I like the dancing but don’t like all the skits they do in between during ‘training’ etc. Can’t be bothered with it anymore.

Lllot5 · 09/12/2019 19:33

I like it. But I agree with others that it goes on for too long. Both weekend evenings since September. They could halve the numbers of celebs and stop pretending that the results are on Sunday.
I like pp idea of showing training footage though be good to see them learning.

ForalltheSaints · 09/12/2019 19:43

My mum who for years was a pianist at a dancing school has stopped watching it. I have never watched it except when visiting her.

Perhaps it has a shelf life as do all reality shows. The BBC often seem to carry on with shows well past what I feel is their end date. The Apprentice should have ended years ago, for example.

MissConductUS · 09/12/2019 19:46

Reality TV became popular in part because it's so cheap to produce compared to traditional TV shows - no highly paid stars, no big writing crew, etc.

It's all mind numbingly dull to me.

GunpowderGelatine · 09/12/2019 19:53

I'm with you OP. I've tried to watch it, I really have, and it bores me to tears. I also have no idea if the acts are good or bad. I always think "they did well" and see that they get 2 points and I'm Confused

TowerRingInferno · 09/12/2019 19:53

Loathe it and all similar shows

mynameiswah · 09/12/2019 20:02

Nope. Never watched a single episode.

Chuck it in the bin! Along with Boring Bake off, I'm not a celebrity, Britain's got no talent and Z Factor.

WildRosie · 09/12/2019 20:16

Not something I've ever watched but one cannot deny its popularity. If the producers can get Elvis Presley paired with Lord Lucan, it might be worth five minutes of my time.

Rumboogie · 09/12/2019 21:34

Loadarubbish

JellyfishAndShells · 09/12/2019 21:40

Really can’t bear it - tacky and hyped up. Went to see a show with some friends, on a spare free ticket , that had some of the professional dancers from the show and escaped at the first opportunity. Mind numbingly boring.

I do like dancing - took ballroom dancing lessons as a child and both my DDs did years of various dance lessons from ballet to musical theatre dance, but Strictly is just camp pantomime.

Gilead · 09/12/2019 21:43

Not remotely interested.
