If a snap election is called, who will you vote for?

This will be such a difficult election, as I reckon almost everyone will vote tactically.

I am a remainer, and was a traditional Labour voter, though that doesn’t feel like home any more.

I also voted no, but now find myself thinking independence might not be the worst option any more.

I will not vote for Johnston.
I like Jo Swinson, but her party will never be big enough to make a big difference.
Corbyn seems a principled man, but he is too far left for me and he’s not a leader - he is a divisive character.
Farage represents all I hate in politics.

I will be voting SNP,, for the first time in my life.

Green

randomsabreuse · 03/09/2019 17:27

My issue with Corbyn is that he somehow managed to lose to Theresa May in the general and European elections despite a basically open goal on both occasions.

Plus his fence sitting on Brexit is unhelpful- plus failure to campaign effectively in the original advisory referendum. The remain campaign was inept. Minimal information was provided in accessible format, unlike the Scottish referendum...

Brexit is basically my only issue at the moment- everything else is better within the EU.

Autumnintheair · 03/09/2019 17:38

Tactical vote will be tory.
I'm a swing voter and I want to leave the eu so I'll vote for that.

Green if there is a candidate here, Lib Dem if not.

We have a massive labour majority here, and our MP is very good, so on one level I would be happy for him to stick around, but on a national level I don't want a JC government.

listsandbudgets · 03/09/2019 17:44

It will certainly be Lib Dem.

Sadly I don't think they can win in our constituency where the Labour MP took 77% of the vote at the last election but since I won't vote Tory and can not stand Corbyn (who along with McDonnell strikes me as almost a great a threat to our economy as Brexit) it will be Lib Dem

Autumnintheair · 03/09/2019 17:46

Mairy the issues tory faced did not spring up over night... People don't suddenly loose houses, need food banks instantly...

It's also build up and I'm afraid that started very much under Blair, then it was hit with cc... And then tory austerity impacted it.

One could cry ' who would vote for Labour' when it Was under Labour tenure thousands upon thousands of young girls were left abandoned to be abused in places like Rotherham because ss were too scared to do anything because of cultural sensitivity.

Blair and brown gagged cabinet and government.

Go away with the moral... How can you vote blah.. Causality of all sorts on all sides somewhere.

Bouledeneige · 03/09/2019 17:50

It's got to be Lib Dem. I will never ever vote Tory but couldn't have JC in charge.

doadeer · 03/09/2019 17:51

Always labour no question for me

Ticklemeelmo · 03/09/2019 17:52

Lib Dem- the only anti-Brexit party with a vague chance of winning. Sure the non Brexit vote will be split between Labour and Lib Dem though

Abstractedobstructed · 03/09/2019 18:01

I don't want to vote Labour as I traditionally have done. Voted lib dem in last election. Dislike Corbyn. Hate the way he refused to resign after vote if no confidence - dishonourable. Feel I have nothing in common with Momentum.

On the other hand, America got Trump because too many people who wanted Bernie Sanders instead of Clinton voted 3rd party or abstained. So I might with a very heavy heart vote Corbyn.

ginghambox · 03/09/2019 18:02

Consevative.

littlestrawby · 03/09/2019 18:05

@Autumnintheair it's hardly overnight is it, the conservatives have been in power since 2010 and look at how much damage their austerity measures have caused, and all while the national debt has also increased. Regardless of where the blame sits for the debt/credit crunch/poverty etc I think it is hugely important to look at the morality behind the measures that are put in place to tackle them. The cuts to public welfare seen under the tories shows where they they place value and sadly it is not in the 'just about managing' people of this country. Things will not get better for the less fortunate until they are no longer in power.

leckford · 03/09/2019 18:10

Conservative, although it is a safe seat, only about 2 people would coated for the nasty Labour Party.

CopperTrolley · 03/09/2019 18:11

Lib Dem

Safe Tory seat here, and our MP’s one of the more palatable Tories, so there’s only an outside chance - but Labour have no chance so minimal chance is better than none.

thecatneuterer · 03/09/2019 18:13

Lib Dem

zafferana · 03/09/2019 18:13

Lib Dem and this time (finally!) we have a good chance of ousting the long-standing Tory candidate, who is an arch Brexiteer in this most Remain of areas.

Borderterrierpuppy · 03/09/2019 18:16

Snp

Hirsutefirs · 03/09/2019 18:21

Ronnie Carroll is a dead cert.

“Nominations had closed on 9 April 2015, just four days before his death, but polling day was not until 7 May..... ...In the event he polled 113 votes to finish sixth out of seven candidates.”

hellenbackagen · 03/09/2019 18:22

Would BJ still be prime minister if Tory's won?

greytminds · 03/09/2019 18:25

Labour, without a doubt. I am a party member and will campaign. Wouldn’t ever vote Tory. I have voted Lib Dem in the past, but wouldn’t do it again after they got into bed with the Tories and showed themselves to be Tory-lite.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 03/09/2019 18:26

Seriously how can anyone not vote at all or vote tory after the last 10 years ?

Because I have given up on party politics and will have to vote for the local candidate that I think will do best for the area. The Labour candidate is an unpleasant option. The independent bloke is a weird Britain First type and the Tory is, well, what he is! Our Green is oddy ill informed about a lot of things and the Lob Dem candidate has just changed.

So... no bloody idea!

Squiff70 · 03/09/2019 18:34

This is a tough one, one I need to think hard about.

I've always been a Labour voter and voted very firmly for remain. I stand by that principle. However, JC for me is not a leader. He's a good man, I don't doubt it for a second, but he's too controverial and the public's opinion of him is very divided. My father doesn't trust him despite him being a Labour voter all his adult life, yet a close friend of mine worships the ground JC walks on - he can do no wrong even through all the antisemitism stuff.

I don't know yet which way to go. I would vote Green based on principle but fear it may be a 'wasted' vote. As for Lib Dems, I really don't know if I trust them at the moment. I need to do some research.

exLtEveDallas · 03/09/2019 18:42

I couldn't vote Tory, and every other party has been out and proud in their destruction of women.

So I haven't got a bloody clue. I can only hope for an Independent - or some joke like Change/Brexit or whatever they are called.

beaglebummabel · 03/09/2019 18:43

Lib Dem

GreekOddess · 03/09/2019 18:46

Liberal Democrat's. There is no alternative for me at the moment.
