If a snap election is called, who will you vote for?

This will be such a difficult election, as I reckon almost everyone will vote tactically.

I am a remainer, and was a traditional Labour voter, though that doesn’t feel like home any more.

I also voted no, but now find myself thinking independence might not be the worst option any more.

I will not vote for Johnston.
I like Jo Swinson, but her party will never be big enough to make a big difference.
Corbyn seems a principled man, but he is too far left for me and he’s not a leader - he is a divisive character.
Farage represents all I hate in politics.

I will be voting SNP,, for the first time in my life.

I live in a Labour stronghold with a Labour safe seat, my MP is very hardworking, she helped me enormously this year when I was doing battle with the DWP over my disability benefits & helped me to get my benefits back. I will be voting for her.

Totaldogsbody · 04/09/2019 00:44

For the first time ever I am considering voting SNP in the next General election. Brexit I fear has been more divisive than the independence ref ever was. We were told that if we voted to remain in the indyref that we would definately remain in the EU. Labour would get my vote otherwise I have voted Labour in most elections and will vote for them again just not this time..

Greens. I'm in an SNP safe seat so no point in voting tactically; may as well vote for who I'd actually like as I can't stand the SNP and think that all the other Scottish parties are crap too.

SilverySurfer · 04/09/2019 01:01

Conservatives, as the other parties are risible. Labour: economically illiterate + Corbyn, LibDims: one policy party, Greens: bonkers policies.

Twooter · 04/09/2019 06:39

Surely this is not the time to vote SNP. If libdems get in, then you have a Scottish PM remainer in charge. Please let’s give things a chance to settle down before you go for a messy independence.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 04/09/2019 06:41

Conservatives have made us an international laughing stock but if that doesn’t bother you...

whatswithtodaytoday · 04/09/2019 06:46

I'll vote tactically to get the Tories out, so probably Lib Dem in this area. I'd hold my nose and vote for Labour if I thought they stood a better chance. Ideally I want Corbyn to go right now (because I think he's a useless leader and parliamentarian and Momentum are poison), and Labour to have a decent leader who could actually win an election.

I also think the entire country has lost its mind and in future we will see the architects of Brexit in court.

PigeonofDoom · 04/09/2019 06:48

Not decided but definitely not tory.

PigeonofDoom · 04/09/2019 06:50

Love the idea that the other parties are risible but the party that have split the country and are happy to plunge us into recession whilst wasting billions of pounds on their own vanity project are not. Okaaaay....

Legomadx2 · 04/09/2019 06:51

Tory

keepingbees · 04/09/2019 07:02

I really don't know.
Tory will never get my vote ever again after the mess they've made of this country and brexit.
I can't give my vote to Labour unless they have a huge shake up getting rid of weasel Corbyn and co.
The rest are all meh and probably a wasted vote.

Icantstopeatinglol · 04/09/2019 07:07

Tory

NewNameJust4Today · 04/09/2019 07:11

I would vote labour again if Keir Starmer was leader.

Roomba · 04/09/2019 07:12

Labour. I'm no longer a member but it's the only chance of getting rid of our smug, lying Tory MP who denied extreme poverty exists locally and said parents who were so poor they couldn't feed or wash their kids needed reporting to social services. That's before we even get onto the whole Brexit debacle. It was a close result with Labour in 2017 so anything that will get him out is worth it for me.

BrokenWing · 04/09/2019 07:18

SNP

ChickenyChick · 04/09/2019 07:33

HerSympanyandSong

The vast majority of mPs are remainers, that is why leavers cannot vote a deal through

TheDragonFromDreams · 04/09/2019 07:35

I’m in Vauxhall, so thank all that is wonderful Kate Hoey should be gone!

Previous to her announcing she’d stand down, ANYONE OTHER THAN HER.

bellinisurge · 04/09/2019 07:42

@ChickenyChick , the ERG/DUP cult fucking with the government party they were supposed to be in or paid to support is the reason we haven't left.

rookiemere · 04/09/2019 07:46

I would like to vote Lib Dem, but I'm in Scotland and feel like Scottish Independence would have a worse impact on our prosperity than even Brexit - this view is held by the large financial organisation I work for - therefore I may need to vote tactically for the option most likely to block SNP even if that is Conservative.

TheoneandObi · 04/09/2019 07:49

Lib Dem as always. I happen to be in a constituency with a narrow Tory majority ripe for toppling. But I’d vote Lib Dem regardless

SmellMySmellbow · 04/09/2019 07:55

It's alarming how many people make such a big decision based on media reporting by BBC, Guardian et al. Their smear campaign has been alarmingly effective. It's more important than ever to teach our children the lost skill of critical thinking, research and awareness of bias.

Whatnotwot · 04/09/2019 08:10

I’ll use the tactical voting website and do what I can to thwart Johnson.

Kazzyhoward · 04/09/2019 08:10

Statistics show relatively few of the younger generation get their news/information from the historical sources of the mainstream media, such as BBC and Guardian. My son who will be voting for the first time if there is a GE shortly never watches the main TV channels, nor reads newspapers. He gets his information from wide ranging research on the internet, social media, podcasts, etc - he often points out to us how different sources report the same story in different ways, so he's well on the way to making a more informed decision than if, say, he only watch Sky news and read the Mail. So the BBC and Guardian reporting (plus other media) will have minimal effect on how he votes. I think most well-informed youngsters will be doing the same.

Of course, there'll be the sleb obsessed thickoes who'll just vote according to whatever Katie Price tweets on the morning of the election - that's a lot more worrying than mainstream media bias.

Labour are fools not having Kier Starmer as leader. A moderate left wing politician would win a general election IMO. As it stands, moderate conservatives are left with a difficult decision, no deal brexit which would be disastrous for the country or vote lib dem and by default allow Jeremy Corbyn to get in (which would be dreadful for the country).
