If a snap election is called, who will you vote for?

This will be such a difficult election, as I reckon almost everyone will vote tactically.

I am a remainer, and was a traditional Labour voter, though that doesn’t feel like home any more.

I also voted no, but now find myself thinking independence might not be the worst option any more.

I will not vote for Johnston.
I like Jo Swinson, but her party will never be big enough to make a big difference.
Corbyn seems a principled man, but he is too far left for me and he’s not a leader - he is a divisive character.
Farage represents all I hate in politics.

I will be voting SNP,, for the first time in my life.

Labour

hellenbackagen · 04/09/2019 18:18

i cant bring myself to vote for lib dem after they got into bed with david cameron and ousted gordon brown.

but i cant bring myself to vote for corbyn either - he seems a nice enough chap but....
nope.

rookiemere · 04/09/2019 18:25

I actually think the Lib Dems did the best job they could of tempering the tories - look how much worse they got without them.

This may be heresy but I really can't get that worked up about student fees. Look at what we've got now - people working until they drop and facing the armageddon that is Brexit. They made an unwise manifesto promise and at least apologised for breaking it - has David Cameron ever apologised for the horrendous situation he catapulted us into - no he just disappeared into the ether.

Labour, safe labour seat and I’ll be tactically voting. I’d vote Lib Dem if not.

inmemoryofamj · 04/09/2019 18:43

Lib Dem

Normandy144 · 04/09/2019 18:44

If you are a remainer we have to show that we don't want Brexit and for me that means a vote for the Liberal Democrats. Look back at the last election, despite reducing their majority, they still took it as a rubber stamp that the UK wanted Brexit. If the Lib Dems don't make significant gains then it will be used as proof that Brexit is still the right thing to do.
If you are thinking about voting LD but won't because it will be a waste, please re think. I don't think we'll see Swinson as PM but significant gains will send a very strong message.

Knittedfairies · 04/09/2019 18:46

I'm in a Conservative stronghold, or I was until my M.P. lost the whip yesterday. He has said previously that he would stand down at the next election, but if he were to stand as an independent, he'd get my very first Tory vote. My M.P. is Ken Clarke.

Ironfloor269 · 04/09/2019 18:46

Labour. Corbyn all the way.

theskywasallviolet · 04/09/2019 18:49

SNP
I think Nicola Sturgeon is an amazing woman and if Scotland became independent we could make it into a wonderful, kind, liberal wee country.
I want nothing to do with England any more (although any English folk that prefer the direction Scotland is heading are most welcome to move up and join in - I don’t hate all English people or anything like that. Just think Scotland would get on a lot better on its own Smile).

LifeOfBox · 04/09/2019 18:51

My vote means nothing, true blue here which I am not.

Fink · 04/09/2019 18:53

Depends on who the Labour candidate is. Our current MP is one of the ex-Labour Change UK lot. If the new candidate is a socialist and strong enough on remain, that'll make my choice easy.

If not, I don't know. Possibly Green, but they don't always field a candidate here. Never Tory/Brexit/UKIP et al, and I'd have to think long and hard before voting Lib Dem but I might be prepared to do it just this once for the sake of stopping Brexit.

AnnaFiveTowns · 04/09/2019 19:00

Tactically to try to stop Tories / Brexit. So in my area that would probably mean Lib Dem.

Snowy111 · 04/09/2019 19:04

Anna you’re absolutely right. Got to be a tactical vote and we need to wait for moderate parties to organise themselves, and tell us how we need to vote to get the right wing brexiteers out. There will be no chance if the votes are split

Nothingcomesforfree · 04/09/2019 19:05

Tory.
No other party has a hint of a plan.

Labour duck and dive.
Liberals want to Remain full stop with no second referendum.
Greens have ridiculous policies.

Seems to depend more on individual MP’s than party politics now.

Kazzyhoward · 04/09/2019 19:09

i cant bring myself to vote for lib dem after they got into bed with david cameron and ousted gordon brown.

Ousting Brown was probably the only worthwhile thing they did. Doesn't make up for the crazy tax increases they insisted on though (and child benefit tax!).

Cwenthryth · 04/09/2019 19:13

I really don’t know at the moment.

Labour/Tory swing seat, currently with a Change MP (ex-Labour on grounds of antisemitism), so I think all 3 are potentially viable options in my seat.

I need to balance how closely the candidates’ individual views on Brexit respect my own, other issues that are important to me personally, and what I think of their various track records, with what their front benches are saying as well/how the seat going to each party would impact the national picture. I’d try to go to hustings and if not probably email them all a barrage of questions. Theoretically I’d be open to any of the 3, but I have serious problems with all of them so it would definitely would be a case of who is the least worst. I’d have to make a spreadsheet/chart to work it out I think!

InTheWalls · 04/09/2019 19:15

Labour.

I have no idea how anybody with a conscience can vote Tory after the last nine years.

TeaLibrary · 04/09/2019 22:04

I genuinely feel as though I can't vote because I don't feel I can trust anything that any of our politicians say. I honestly don't think any of them have the best interests of the country at heart and I don't feel like any of them will genuinely act in our best interests.

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 05/09/2019 06:24

@theskywasallviolet my husband is from Glasgow. We have talked a few times about moving there. I’m not sure though. But will see how things go.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 05/09/2019 07:50

Lin Dem
I always voted labour but will not under JC and co controlling the party and sadly it’s too late to change leader.

I think BJ shall will with a majority or The Brexit Party will do very well and join forces

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 05/09/2019 07:51

Lib Dem ...

Incandescentwithage · 05/09/2019 08:04

Labour voters. Anti semitism doesn't bother you?

MorrisZapp · 05/09/2019 08:16

Gender bollocks bothers me a lot more than anti semitism but in a GE situation, I'd hold my nose and vote labour. Do you have a better plan to defeat the government?

Incandescentwithage · 05/09/2019 08:21

So your happy to support an anti semitic party.

MorrisZapp · 05/09/2019 08:25

No, I have many issues with labour, like most middle aged centre left types do. But we live in a two party state and the alternative is vastly worse.
