What are your latest food discoveries/obsessions?

I'm always looking for something new to try.

At the moment my current obsessions are Cameroonian spaghetti omelettes and Alka Elephant squeezed pretzels. The latter are a bit too salty for my tastes but they're still addictive and I don't feel as though I'm going to break a tooth on them, unlike some other pretzel snacks.

What are your current food obsessions?

Making Pizza in my Ooni! It's a labour of love!

mamaraah · 31/08/2019 09:39

Shadow01 · 31/08/2019 09:47

@Tattersail they sound good, can I ask where you brought them from please?

mamaraah · 31/08/2019 09:47

Tonkatsu 😍😍😍😍

milliefiori · 31/08/2019 09:52

@SwizzelStick - roasted kale is absolutely delicious. Chop it, toss it in a bit of sesame oil mixed with garlic puree, salt and chilli flakes and then bake until crisp. Addictive.

Saucery · 31/08/2019 09:52

Moroccan falafel 🥙 with tsatziki and beetroot hummus.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 31/08/2019 09:54

Sauerkraut on salad with mayo. Something about the salty/creamy combination plus that sway between deciding if it's delicious or revolting with every mouthful.

thunderthighsohwoe · 31/08/2019 09:54

Halloumi fries. GENIUS.

I’m a rubbish cook/baker, so Dr Oetker’s banana loaf mix in a box is my guilty pleasure.

that sway between deciding if it's delicious or revolting with every mouthful Dh feels that way about nduja, can't decide whether he loves it or finds it revolting - he needs to eat more of it! 😂 😂 😂

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 31/08/2019 10:03

The heat makes you crave salty things.

Mine are watermelon and feta, miso roasted aubergine and dry roasted spicy peanuts.

Perch · 31/08/2019 10:09

On a recent holiday I had palm heart atchar - OMG!!!
And powdered dried lime is amazing, lifts most dishes.

@pontiouspilates try roasting capers, black olives, halved new potatoes, cherry toms, drained tin of broad beans, toss in oil, proper seasalt and pepper. Amazing!!

BearSoFair · 31/08/2019 10:24

Ryvita crackerbreads topped with cheesespread and sundried tomato.
I'm also another fan of Marmite flatbreads!

NoTheresa · 31/08/2019 10:28

Madeleines. With strong morning coffee - not a discovery but certainly a bit of an obsession! Mmmmmm

FFSOMG · 31/08/2019 10:31

You lot with your roasted kale can eff off, I’m loseri the tone and admitting that I’ve become in love with the pack of cheapo doughnuts from Sainsbury’s bakery. 50p for 5 and so sugary and squishy and full of jam mmm

FFSOMG · 31/08/2019 10:31

Lowering the tone*

NoTheresa · 31/08/2019 10:48

Sounds almost as good as the pink iced Krispy Kreme one. Smile

HotChocolateLover · 31/08/2019 11:00

I want all of this food but am too lazy to go and get it!

I really like mint Aeros
Sainsbury’s onion rings
DH does the best steak with homemade Diane sauce. No joke, I have licked the plate when he’s left the room 😂

SamBeckett · 31/08/2019 14:21

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz
I cant believe that is so easy ! I thought it was going to be a load of ingredients and half a teaspoon of black gold to add a bit of body. ( which is what I do with a lots of stews )

Mummyoftwo91 · 31/08/2019 14:22

Chilli jam, with poached eggs

HundredMilesAnHour · 31/08/2019 16:22

50p for 5??!! They're 75p in my Sainsbury's!!! I guess that's a London punishment 'premium'

baldyfromstressy · 31/08/2019 16:52

Moffles. They're mochi waffles and bloody delicious!

Tolleshunt · 31/08/2019 17:10

Sainsbury’s definitely do the best jam doughnuts of all the supermarkets. They are soft and yummy, whereas Tesco’s are always hard and stale-tasting. I think I pay 75p too, but it’s still worth it!

PickAChew · 31/08/2019 17:21

Sainsburys donuts are good. And they have proper sugar on them and none of this powdered nonsense. They've been hard to get, recently. Markses ones are great, too. A bit firmer but really tasty dough. Those and the sainsburys are the only ones I'm ever tempted by.

Tolleshunt · 31/08/2019 17:24

Yes, proper crunchy sugar crystals, PickAChew. Powdered sugar is just wrong!
