What are your latest food discoveries/obsessions?

I'm always looking for something new to try.

At the moment my current obsessions are Cameroonian spaghetti omelettes and Alka Elephant squeezed pretzels. The latter are a bit too salty for my tastes but they're still addictive and I don't feel as though I'm going to break a tooth on them, unlike some other pretzel snacks.

What are your current food obsessions?

Itsu prawn crackers! I can only open a bag if I'm prepared to eat the whole lot!

WinterHare · 30/08/2019 20:39

@SamBeckett @SwizzelStick like halloumi fries but made with hot dogs. Breaded deep fried dawgs really! First ate them in New York & got hooked Blush

Lighteninginabottle27 · 30/08/2019 20:39

@tolleshunt; that peanut butter sounds epic! I'm on the hunt....
In the good corner we have M&S salad sundries, the kimchi coleslaw is epic and the supergreens salad too. Makes my pack up exciting.

In the naughty corner we have Icelands Hash Brown fries. Epic with a mushroom omlette for dinner and a shit load of ketchup.
It's all about balance in this house!

And another couple of things on the post pregnancy scoff list-

Manomasa tortilla chips with chipotle and lime. So moreish and crunchy and just the right amount of seasoning.

Tony's Chocolonely chocolate - weird name but amazing chocolate and fair trade/anti slavery. Had just discovered it when I was diagnosed with GD so had to give the last huge chunk to DH Sad

Strawberrycreamsundae · 30/08/2019 20:47

Another Marmite flatbreads addict here SamBeckett, dangerously moreish aren't they? And Marmite cashew nuts 😋

SwizzelStick · 30/08/2019 20:48

Thank you Winterhare. I'll have to try them.

milliefiori · 30/08/2019 22:33

Heritage or baby plum tomatoes, sliced with fresh thyme.

How come i never had this before? I always used to put basil with tomatoes, Never again. This is addictive. Been eating it all summer. Sometimes with a bit of salt or olive oil but just those two ingredients are sublime.

Tolleshunt · 30/08/2019 22:47

millie I agree that thyme is lovely with tomato. I often make tomato sauce and soup with thyme instead of basil. Rosemary is lovely too.

Literally on the table in 10 minutes. We actually use cheddar instead of Parmesan too Grin

Salmon poke bowls.

Stir some rice wine and soy sauce into cooked rice. Top with cooked salmon, kimchi, steamed veg like brocoli or spinach, sushi ginger, and sprinkle with sesame or other seeds.

Oblomov19 · 31/08/2019 08:07

Cauliflower. Anything cauliflower.

Sainsbury's marinated cauliflower steaks with chimichurri marinade are nice.

WhoopiGoldbergsCat · 31/08/2019 08:28

Mashed avocado and feta cheese, chili flakes, thickly spread on a fresh seeded loaf (from lidl bakery).
I cannot get enough of this at the moment.

NorbertHerbertGruntfuttock · 31/08/2019 08:33

Anybody else noticed that virtually everything listed on this thread is hellish salty!

My contribution is home grown kefir. Addicted to it. No salt though!
