I think someone’s been in my flat when I’m out

I went to a BBQ in Saturday night and received a strange text from my DD who was home in her bedroom. She told me to stop stomping around as she was tired. I replied that I was miles away at a BBQ and she must have heard the neighbours

I thought no more of it and then I noticed someone today has come in and put a package on my bed and turned my fan on. Nothings been taken. Again my DD said she heard the door go and someone walking around and assumed it was me. But I have only just back from London

My DD is quite worried as she said it was so obviously someone in the flat she assumes it was me. She said I should get the locks changed as she thinks the former owners who lived here in 2016 could still have a key or even given it to someone else. It hasn’t even occurred to me to change the locks when I bought the flat. I guess that’s what I will have to do but how very odd. Nothing has been taken and they weren’t quiet about it.

Anyone else had to Google degus?

LonginesPrime · 28/08/2019 07:21

OP and OP's daughter - why are you posting all the 'evidence' to an anonymous Internet forum?

If I were in your situation, the last thing I'd want to do is publicise my vulnerability, but you seem very concerned with proving you're telling the truth to a load of randoms - why is making MNers believe you so important?

Missingstreetlife · 28/08/2019 07:28

It's incredibly easy to open a Yale lock with a credit card or any flexible plastic. Double lock your door or put chain on at night

EleanorReally · 28/08/2019 07:29

you can't put a chain lock on if you are expecting someone home later

NoSauce · 28/08/2019 07:36

I've decided I'm not going to look at this thread anymore. Too many troll hunters and It's exhausting. If anyone wants to know the outcome of this scenario: we are changing the locks and recharging our ring. If anything happens after that I will remind my mum not to post it on Mumsnet because this is draining

It’s not your place to tell your mum what to do. What you doing on MN anyway? Surely there’s more interesting stuff on the internet Confused

Surely you should go and knock on the neighbours door who signed for the parcel and ask what they did next after they signed for it?

Yes, this. How are you this morning, OP. Did you stay awake?!

SparklyMagpie · 28/08/2019 07:46

Am I the only one thinking why you someone have to hide a parcel that's addressed to the mum from your daughter. Why would you think it was a present?

Unless my mum tells me what a parcel is being delivered I just leave it on the side lol

SparklyMagpie · 28/08/2019 07:46

Oh wait apparently the boyfriend knew? Weird

SparklyMagpie · 28/08/2019 07:50

Hmm no just read back when the OP said the boyfriend said he was handed the parcel and left it on her bed, the daughter said he confessed as it was a christmas present for her

If OP didn't consider it could have been the boyfriend, which surely you would if he knew it was an xmas present, because how would he have known

I'm missing the point massively I know 😂

So Len has a key? Why would he put it on your bed, did he know the present was for you DD then?

OP and OP's daughter - why are you posting all the 'evidence' to an anonymous Internet forum?

Yes. Many, many people have advised alerting the police, especially as this is the latest in a long line of odd incidents. I don’t understand why it’s all being posted on MN. Someone is entering your home and is bold enough to make plenty of noise, is going through your stuff, switching fans on to make it clear they’ve been there, etc., yet MN is the first port of call? Confused

I told my DD bf I was expecting a delivery today and what it was as I am at work and he would have been here today. I worried the delivery may come early in the morning and no one would have opened the door if asleep. It arrives a day early and it was on my bed. I didn’t realise my DD bf was here yesterday and with the noises and other things it unnerved me. He really is a good lad who I trust implicitly.

Off to work now and having woken to read my DDa been affected by this thread I’m going to let it die. (This is more like AIBU than chat)

Once I figure out if I can attach them I will post them on here as evidence (if anyone knows how to do that via phone that would be appreciated advice)

It’s really easy. Attach a screenshot using the paperclip icon below the message box.

They're not trolls, they're troll hunters and I do believe they are banned by mumsnet. God, if someone was going to invent a story, surely it would be more interesting than this!!

Jenasaurus · 28/08/2019 08:02

You are going to report this to the police though, aren’t you? If not, why not? Confused

EvadeHer · 28/08/2019 08:10

.

colourlessgreenidea · 28/08/2019 08:11

And you’re going to the doctors about your memory loss/confusion?

@NoSauce but antagonising someone on a post in which someone is clearly frightened and posting 'fake' 'really' 'hard to believe' is both inflammatory and off topic isn't it?

I think it was more about how the OP seemed to not be frightened that had people thinking it was weird.

SparklyMagpie · 28/08/2019 08:13

"And you’re going to the doctors about your memory loss/confusion?"

This!!

You need to get that checked me thinks
