Can I show off and be shameless here? I can't in real life

I have had a very tough time recently, dh has had a nervous breakdown, my dad who has always been abusive hit a new low and we're NC. My mum emigrated and it's just been so hard.
But ds got 11 level 9s and and A** in further maths yesterday and I am so so proud. He is severely dyspraxic and had oral dyspeptia which went undiagnosed until he was 4 which severely affected his speech. I was told he had SEN and he was put in a special group, I knew he was frustrated and moved his school then home schooled. He went to the local comp for secondary, it was on special
Measures, he was bullied but here we are.
I am so proud of my boy. I could burst.
As a working class northerner I will be ostracised for rl showing off, so can I be shameless here?
Sorry to anyone I annoy, I just need an outlet! Mn has helped me so much over the years with ds, dh and just life. Thank you all so much SmileSmileSmile

Congrats to you and your son! Show off as much as you like 😀

7salmonswimming · 23/08/2019 22:45

Very, very well done to you both.

It’s criminal that results Iike these which have been achieved against the odds aren’t routinely recognised by college admissions for what they evidence. Determination, perseverance, commitment, focus, hard work, intelligence, self-belief - and, crucially, not allowing others to limit his own perception of himself.

In addition to academic doors that these results might open for your boy, I hope he continues to build on the character he is forming. This is what leaders should be made of, not born-into-privilege Eton/Oxford types.

katseyes7 · 23/08/2019 22:45

Your boy is a total star and you're an amazing mother. l wish my mother had supported me the way you have. Huge respect to you both!

BobbyPuck · 23/08/2019 22:45

Well done! What's an A**?

HarrietM87 · 23/08/2019 22:46

Absolutely fantastic!

womaninthedark · 23/08/2019 22:46

He's going to be so posh isn't he

Yes, he is. You'll spend the rest of your life trying to dress right and keep quiet so your accent doesn't show him up. And you'll love every minute. You've done so well.

BrutusMcDogface · 23/08/2019 22:46

Absolutely incredible results, well done to him!! I’m not surprised you’re bursting with pride! GrinWineFlowers

Gingernaut · 23/08/2019 22:46

It's an A* squared

2018SoFarSoGreat · 23/08/2019 22:47

well hell, ProudMuda you made me get all teary eyed with your swelling pride. My dad would always cry with pride at the smallest and biggest achievements of anyone he ever met (or just heard of) and I have now belatedly inherited his trait.

Well done, DS and well done YOU. Bloody well done. The future will be a better place with him in it. Congratulations.

Gingernaut · 23/08/2019 22:48

It's a top mark, with added awesomeness.

He's got almost or spot on 100% in that subject.

actuallyquitesmall · 23/08/2019 22:48

LordBuckley · 23/08/2019 22:51

Congratulations! That's an excellent result.

You've clearly done a brilliant parenting job, and your son has worked exceptionally hard.

I hope your husband will soon be well enough to feel happy for your son.

Leftiefterson · 23/08/2019 22:52

What an amazing achievement OP - bloody brilliant. I used to live in South Wales and we too are a self/deprecating bunch, not used to celebrating success. You must be so very proud!

truthisarevolutionaryact · 23/08/2019 22:53

That’s freaking amazing! I’m a fellow working class northerner who also happens to be the mother of a genius and I’m so over the ‘embarrassment’ of it and brag about my DS all the time now! I raised him as a single mum so take all the credit too! Well done to you all!!

Goingonagondola · 23/08/2019 22:54

Absolutely brilliant, you boast away! You must be over the moon.

Contraceptionismyfriend · 23/08/2019 22:55
