What do you drink that's not hot or alcoholic?

I'm trying to lose weight, so cutting back on fizzy drinks, but dislike plain water (hard water area and am trying to cut back on plastics so bottled is something I'd like to avoid).

I do drink tea and coffee in the mornings, but prefer cold drinks in the afternoon.

So, what can I drink that isn't plain water or full of artificial sweeteners?

What do you drink

Kombucha.

Nacreous · 18/08/2019 22:30

I make iced tea with no sugar, a mix of earl grey and normal tea, with lots of sliced oranges and lemons with it. Careful not to let it over brew or it gets bitter.

AcrossthePond55 · 18/08/2019 22:35

Iced Tea. Preferably Sun Tea.

Belvoir raspberry & lemon cordial with fizzy water from soda stream - delicious.

thenightsky · 18/08/2019 22:40

sparkling water (bottle goes in recycling)

Fifthtimelucky · 18/08/2019 23:34

I don't drink alcohol, hot drinks, or cold fizzy drinks.

My usual drinks, when I don't want water, are Bottle Green cordials: elderflower & lemongrass, pomegranate & elderflower and ginger and lemonade are the usual ones, but they also do seasonal specials (rhubarb and something, and raspberry this year). I also like Coppella apple juice and elderflower.

Kombucha (home brewed because I’m pretentious)

Plain water w/ slices of lemon or lime, mint leaves, fruit etc in it. Make it in the morning in one of those big glass jars w/ a tap on the side and drink throughout he day, or in a jug kept in the fridge

Littlechocola · 18/08/2019 23:44

Water. If in a hard water area just get a filter.

We have our own spring. It’s far nicer than anything that you can buy (sorry!).

Littlechocola · 18/08/2019 23:45

@Nacreous I’ve never made ice tea! Is it as simple as it sounds?

Sgtmajormummy · 18/08/2019 23:53

Since I’ve been on a low carb diet: apple cider vinegar with “mother” (!) just a teaspoon in a large glass of water so no need for a straw.
I use it to avoid boredom eating or hunger pangs and it’s good for your digestion.
Sometimes chugging lots of plain water can be off-putting. This tastes like a lemon drink.

ChodeMcwinkle · 19/08/2019 00:09

Cold brew coffee, I have a jug on the go all the time served really weak with lots of ice!

And squash, I love squash.

cheeseislife8 · 19/08/2019 00:11

Fizzy water with with either vimto cordial or just lemon! Yum

Coffeeandchocolate9 · 19/08/2019 00:14

@thefirstmrsdewinter ooooooooh I'm trying that! I was about to suggest a bit of ginger, but that's another level!

Chocolate35 · 19/08/2019 00:17

Flavoured water. Lemon and lime is my favourite although I’m not too fussy. I drink about 2litres a day.

xdestarx · 19/08/2019 00:21

I drink Ocean Spray Squash - Cranberry and Raspberry flavour. It's the best thing I've ever discovered as I'm fussy with drinks but it does have sugar in it - through supposidly natural from fruit and not as much in comparison to pure juice.

Starksforthewin · 19/08/2019 00:59

I buy whatever fruit is cheapest/in season each week in the market. Chop into slices and freeze.
I then add them to filtered or sparkling water. The fruit acts as flavour and ice cube!

Last time I bought half a dozen pink grapefruit and now have about fifty slices in the freezer. Works well also with lemons, oranges, limes, nectarines and peaches.
Costs pennies compared to buying fruit cordials/squashes, and no added sugar.

MoreSchnitzelPlease · 19/08/2019 01:03

I make cold brew coffee. I also like to drink lemon barley water, and diet coke.

LemonPrism · 19/08/2019 01:13

Soda water, ice and fresh lime juice

Squash

Mostly Ice-water though, we keep a carafe in the fridge and always have ice

Adollop · 19/08/2019 01:40

I squeeze the juice from half a lemon into a glass, add caster sugar, stir til dissolved, then top up with cold water. I drank this in a cafe in Paris and loved it, so started making it at home. I can't drink plain water, the smell of it makes me feel sick.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 19/08/2019 01:49

MrsJacksonAvery, I like that one too, although I have the rose and elderflower at the moment. There are a few 'glass bottle' cordials that are very nice. I always dilute them more than it suggests, but then I also dilute orange juice, so might just have sensitive tastebuds!

To be honest, a lot of the time I'm happy with just tap water, although I do live somewhere where it's soft — I don't enjoy London water at all!

Nat6999 · 19/08/2019 02:27

Peppermint cordial & soda water.

PatricksRum · 19/08/2019 04:08

Twinings cold and infuse

thefirstmrsdewinter · 19/08/2019 12:03

@Coffeeandchocolate9 if you really smash the ginger first (I use a mortar and pestle) it's very tasty. I keep it in the fridge and top it up with water at night. I like diluted apple juice but it gets a bit samey.

fussychica · 19/08/2019 13:23

Slimline tonic with Angostura Bitters, a Bottlegreen cordial or on its own with ice and a slice. Alternatively, there are lots of lovely Bottlegreen spritzers or Fevertree and others do flavoured tonics. I love the cucumber one.
Lots more low/alcohol free beers and ciders available now too.
I choose one of the above Mon -Thurs which are my alcohol free days.

CacenCrunch · 19/08/2019 13:27

Orange and pineapple squash - love it
