What do you drink that's not hot or alcoholic?

I'm trying to lose weight, so cutting back on fizzy drinks, but dislike plain water (hard water area and am trying to cut back on plastics so bottled is something I'd like to avoid).

I do drink tea and coffee in the mornings, but prefer cold drinks in the afternoon.

So, what can I drink that isn't plain water or full of artificial sweeteners?

What do you drink

Fruit tea/coffee for hot drinks
Beer/wine for alcoholic drinks

Plain water, soda stream sparkling water (reusable plastics). Elderflower, PJ lemon juice, crushed mint and lime cordial.

I used to be totally addicted to Diet Coke but we have banned it and consequently all “sugar free/aspartamine” drinks as they were giving me terrible stomach pains :) (dr thought gall stones). Since giving up I’ve lost weight and don’t have tummy ache.

Good luck

Tap water with an ice cube or two., a slice of lemon or lime and a sprig of mint or slice of cucumber

Spam88 · 18/08/2019 18:58

Sticking a fruit/herbal tea bag in tap water makes it a bit more interesting (they impart a fair bit of flavour even without using boiling water). Cucumber water is really nice as well. Beyond that it's a bit difficult if you (presumably) don't want calories and don't want sweeteners.

We recently got a soda stream and I love making sparkling water!

We also have a water filter that comes through our fridge so the water is filtered and chilled and it’s really nice.

Water really is the best thing for you.

I also like adding mint leaves and a lemon slice.

Herefortheduration · 18/08/2019 19:01

I drink gallons of Vimto, I like it very weak and always have it in a reusable bottle.

Shadow01 · 18/08/2019 19:03

Water or hi-juice squash.
I live in a hard water area and actually prefer it to soft water, for me it quenches my thirst better but I know it’s not the same for everyone.

Fizzy water and lemon

I drink loads of it every day

ZenNudist · 18/08/2019 19:05

Fizzy water with lime. But thats bottled

EmmiJay · 18/08/2019 19:41

I know you said no plain water but I drink Fiji water and swear it tastes...good. lol Or I'll have volvic lemon flavoured water without the sugar.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 18/08/2019 19:45

@inwood Thanks - BF buys loads of bottled fizzy water so am considering getting him a soda stream to limit plastic use. He's rigid about it being cold, though.

SeaSaltandLime · 18/08/2019 20:00

I don't really drink plain water either. Only the stuff that comes in bottles and very rarely.
Lime and San Pellegrino fizzy water (comes in glass bottles)

Chamomile tea with fresh lemon squeezed in - then a few lemon wedges added.

Orange juice.

Tea and Coffee.

I'm a nightmare for fizzy drinks though. Go through 6 cans of 7UP or Coke every day.

I always add loads of ice to cold drinks. Makes them much more appetising to me.

SeaSaltandLime · 18/08/2019 20:02

Agree with @EmmiJay that Fiji water is one of the best.
I buy a crate of the stuff from Costco and try and drink a bottle a day.

Smart water and Voss also taste very 'clear'.
Much better than the stuff out of the tap,

SouthernLands · 18/08/2019 20:07

Hard water here too - tastes so much better when it's been in the fridge for a while.

My DC like cooled fruit teas.

EmmiJay · 18/08/2019 20:26

@SeaSalt Yes! Thats the word. It tastes 'clear.'

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/08/2019 20:29

Tap water, pints and pints of it.

expatinspain · 18/08/2019 20:41

Tonic is nice; something like Fever Tree. Also I find that cold filtered water tastes much nicer than tap water

FiveLittlePigs · 18/08/2019 20:50

Elderflower cordial topped up with lots of sparkling water, lots of ice.

Apple & mango juice drink (tastes like a j20 but a fraction of the cost - Asda sell it in litre cartons)

Fruit juices.

growlingbear · 18/08/2019 20:55

Infused water. Get a big jug of tap water and add sliced strawberries or oranges and lots of fresh mint. Or ginger and lemon. Or even (surprisingly tasty) fresh chillies and lemons or limes.

whiteroseredrose · 18/08/2019 20:57

Soda water and fresh lime

Jsmith99 · 18/08/2019 21:04

I drink about 2 litres of water from the chiller machine at work every day.

At home I often drink no-added sugar Ribena.

As a very occasional treat I will have a can of delicious full-fat Coca Cola.

Cherrysoup · 18/08/2019 21:42

Lemon, mint and cucumber in water chilled overnight.

Tesseire syrups (sugar free, but full of artificial crap) and diet tonic/sparkling water. Elderflower one is epic.

Any fruit juice with diet tonic.

Fruit tea, make it hot then chill or cold infusions, saw them in Sainsbury this week.

longtompot · 18/08/2019 21:53

I bottle tap water and keep it in the fridge for cold water. I also love Sainsburys apple & mango squash with fresh mint and soda water.
I like Pukka 3 mint tea and Twinnings buttermint tea as they are both nice hot and cold.

RainbowMum11 · 18/08/2019 22:10

Diet Coke
Squash and fizzy water (lime, elderflower cordial sometimes)

thefirstmrsdewinter · 18/08/2019 22:18

Fresh ginger bashed up and steeped in boiling water with either fresh mint, cardamom seeds or green tea, cooled and kept in the fridge. I add a splash of water and apple juice to it. It does look like pond water though.

PoppingOneOutIn2020 · 18/08/2019 22:20

Sugar free pink grapefruit squash. Or edlerflower cordial for when I want something with flavour.

But recently have been sticking to shed loads of water.

Growing a baby is apprrblyt thirsty work!
