I'm poorly and had to cancel our holiday. Where can 70yo nana bring disappointed DS7 on this rainy day?

Poor DS7. I've got bad chickenpox and had to cancel going camping this week (dp and dss have gone on ahead and we will follow on when I'm well enough, which might not happen)

All his friends are away but he's happy to have nana to look after him. But apart from the cinema, the science / natural history museums, what can they do today in London that's relatively cheap and indoors? I need inspiration. Please help x

The transport museum at covent garden is good, with free return for a year. If the weather is ok then street performers at covent garden are good too.

batteriesincluded · 18/08/2019 13:58

Covent garden good call and the weather has cleared up.

Mum has taken him out, no real plan, they will go to her flat to feed the cats and then maybe gambados or head back here for cinema later. They are also considering some other suggestions taken from here, so they have options.

For now I am going to sit in front of the fan and dry another layer of calomine lotion. 😭

ThePhoenixRises · 18/08/2019 15:10

Are you sure that's chicken pox?

MyNameIsJane · 18/08/2019 15:19

Big hugs to you OP, it looks rotten. No wonder you’re under the weather.

Horsemad · 18/08/2019 15:51

That rash looks very like a post viral rash that my DS had when he was little.
Have you had it checked out?

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 18/08/2019 15:52

I see you’re sorted for today, but if your mum’s going to be looking after DS next week, my local-ish list would be:

Clowntown
Aldenham Country Park
Ally Pally
Willows Activity Farm
Playground in Friary Park with trampolines
Ludicrously big sundae at Creams!
Tube to South Ken for museums if she can face the hordes
The animal sanctuary in Trent Park
Hatfield House farm and adventure playground

That doesn't look like CP to me,.CP is fluid filled blisters.

Poor you Sad

SecretWitch · 18/08/2019 15:58

I have no suggestions for you. I just wanted to say I hope you feel better soon. 💐

theunrivalledjoysofparenting · 18/08/2019 15:59

Another one saying that doesn't look like CP. Have you seen the GP/sent them a pic?

I'd ask if your dh could come and get your ds so you can recover in peace and he gets some holiday.

If it is CP, take piriton - better at relieving itching than calamine.

Lots of sympathy, you poor thing, it looks very sore.

SeroxatBlonde · 18/08/2019 15:59

That looks more like HFM , my ds was covered with it.

SeroxatBlonde · 18/08/2019 16:06

Did you do a thread the other day saying you went to the GP? If you did, I remember you said you they diagnosed CP and you had a few CP like blisters but this rash definitely doesn't look like it,it does look like HFM which starts off with blisters. Took a full week before ds's rash calmed down.

PotolBabu · 18/08/2019 16:14

Hang on. Didn’t your GP prescribe medication? I was given Acyclovir immediately and it stopped the rash in its track. I was also going to say it doesn’t look like CP.

Beach11 · 18/08/2019 16:23

The Brainiac or Illusionist shows in London. Both meant to be fab and think have discounts- try google or a musical.
The Tower of London or Tower Bridge are both fun and interesting.

Dinosaur golf at Trent Park golf club.

hippoherostandinghere · 18/08/2019 16:26

Another one just adding that that really doesn't look like CP to me? Had the roast changed a lot since it first broke out and the dr saw it?

hippoherostandinghere · 18/08/2019 16:27

*Rash obviously.

ThePhoenixRises · 18/08/2019 16:33

Hives or HFM were my initial thoughts after seen the photo.

1busybee · 18/08/2019 16:35

Transport museum and Covent Garden are a great day out. Pretty sure there s a discount if you live in London too. The park at corams field is great too as has small petting zoo and near to British museum.

CottonSock · 18/08/2019 16:36

I saw your other thread, that looks awful . Could it be shingles now?
Good you have your mum helping. I hope they had a nice day. We enjoyed transport museum, although a bit expensive it gives return visits.

batteriesincluded · 18/08/2019 16:54

The doc diagnosed CP on Wednesday but there were only a few spots on my arms and it's spread onto my entire body since then. I was prescribed Acyclovir and have been taking 5 a day. Also having piriton. But the itching has been unbearable and relentless since Wednesday evening. The spots on my arms have amalgamated into large blotches, and the spots have spread to my legs too, see pics.

Should I be worried??

DP has said he will drive down first thing tomorrow morning to pick ds up so he can enjoy some camping. I'm just so gutted about all this Sad

And yes that was me on the other thread. And yes the rash has changed since then. Obviously it's not spread from my arms to my legs. Over my stomach and boobs and chest and neck. And my back.

The first spots which were on my arms have turned from spots into blotches. There is some discolouration in the middle of the blotches, most like bruising.

I've been headachey and lethargic. Had a migraine earlier.

OP posts:
batteriesincluded · 18/08/2019 17:00

It's not HFM as the rash isn't on my hands or feet or in my mouth. The doctor confirmed this on Wednesday as I specifically asked her.

OP posts:
batteriesincluded · 18/08/2019 17:01

And it can't be shingles because it's on both sides of my body...

Catoninetails · 18/08/2019 17:06

Are they forming into fluid filled blisters? That's classic sign of chickenpox. If they're not, then it's not CP.
