I'm poorly and had to cancel our holiday. Where can 70yo nana bring disappointed DS7 on this rainy day?

Poor DS7. I've got bad chickenpox and had to cancel going camping this week (dp and dss have gone on ahead and we will follow on when I'm well enough, which might not happen)

All his friends are away but he's happy to have nana to look after him. But apart from the cinema, the science / natural history museums, what can they do today in London that's relatively cheap and indoors? I need inspiration. Please help x

I hope you can get to your own GP soonest lass.

AnotherEmma · 18/08/2019 20:28

Any chance of seeing your GP tomorrow?
Why so far away, did you register near work or did you move and not change surgery?

batteriesincluded · 18/08/2019 20:42

Moved very recently...

Will call my GP tomorrow if tonight is bad.

Just had a shower and although it still looks pretty bad I wasn't urgently dousing myself with calomine straight after. In fact, I've been sitting here 15 mins and not felt a huge urge to apply it. Going to see if I can go without it tonight. I fucking hate that stuff.

I'm so glad you managed to get seen.

When you get to normal GP tomorrow check if it's contagious or not.

You might still be able to get on holiday with DC and DH after all.

Does it look like this, OP? This is an allergy to medication. It is hell I can tell you so I sympathise if so. Not just the rash being itchy and sore but generally feeling ill and headachey. Hope you feel better soon.

batteriesincluded · 19/08/2019 13:41

Yes, sorry, just like that. The doc thinks I either had a viral infectionor allergy to something which was exacerbated by the meds they prescribed. Honestly they don't actually know.

I'm much better today, haven't itched since I stopped the meds last night , and with the doctors blessing we are now on our way camping!

The relief from the itching is palpable. Thanks for talking me through it all. I'm going to enjoy what's left of my holiday.

Chickenpox as an adult is awful, my husband thought he was dying.

Disfordarkchocolate · 19/08/2019 13:49

Just seen your update, thats what I looked like last time I had amoxicillin, even though I was taking antihistamines the itching was unbearable. Glad to see you off camping.

MrsMozartMkII · 19/08/2019 21:39

Hope you have a lovely time lass!
