I'm poorly and had to cancel our holiday. Where can 70yo nana bring disappointed DS7 on this rainy day?

Poor DS7. I've got bad chickenpox and had to cancel going camping this week (dp and dss have gone on ahead and we will follow on when I'm well enough, which might not happen)

All his friends are away but he's happy to have nana to look after him. But apart from the cinema, the science / natural history museums, what can they do today in London that's relatively cheap and indoors? I need inspiration. Please help x

No fluid filled blisters (yet)

I'd call out of hours. That's not CP. Certainly not like any I've ever seen.

GherkinsOnToast · 18/08/2019 17:14

OP - that is unlike any CP I have ever seen, can you get someone to have a look at it - a second opinion?

flippyflapper · 18/08/2019 17:17

Sorry not helping with you dc, all 5 of my kids gave had chicken poxs, i had it in my 20's and i worked in a nursery, i honestly have ever seen cp present its self like that before. You poor poor thing.

flippyflapper · 18/08/2019 17:18

Sorry for typos on my phone

FenellaMaxwell · 18/08/2019 17:18

That does NOT look like chicken pox - is there an OOH doc you can get to?

hippoherostandinghere · 18/08/2019 17:20

Yeah I think you should phone OOH. That looks horrendously sore and itchy. I think you need to get it seen again now that it's changed it's presentation. With the anti-viral it should be starting to heal up not getting worse.

batteriesincluded · 18/08/2019 17:21

Oh shit really. I'm getting worried now. The doc I'm registered with is an hour away by tube. Should I call around doctors surgeries near where I am now? Or 111? I'm panicking and not feeling well at all and don't know what to do, sorry if I'm being nonsensical

You need to call 111 and ask for an urgent out of hours appointment. Have you had all your childhood jabs etc?

SeroxatBlonde · 18/08/2019 17:30

Don't panic, more than likely it's some kind of viral rash. Ring 111 and and what they say.

stucknoue · 18/08/2019 17:34

The maritime museum and a boat ride to Greenwich is fun,

batteriesincluded · 18/08/2019 17:35

Spoke to 111 and went through a series of questions. She is getting someone to call me back in next 2 hours.

Fenella, I think so? I don't even know! Last jab I remember was the BCG

SeroxatBlonde · 18/08/2019 17:36

Are you drinking lots OP?x

FenellaMaxwell · 18/08/2019 17:37

It’s quite possibly a bug and the rash is viral, but the anti-virals should have started taking it down by now if so. I just ask about jabs because the rash looks more like measles than CP. Is it flat, or does it have a texture to it?

ineedaholidaynow · 18/08/2019 17:40

Depends on how old OP is depends on which childhood jabs she may have had. I had rubella vaccination at secondary school but didn’t have anything for measles or mumps (MMR was not a thing when I was a child)

Hope you find out what is wrong with you OP and start to feel better soon

Northernlurker · 18/08/2019 17:42

I think it looks like measles too. It could be an infection alongside chicken pox. You need to see a doctor today. I don't like your headache and how unwell you feel.
Keep drinking fluids and wait for the call back but prepare to go out to some sort of medical setting.

Northernlurker · 18/08/2019 17:43

And what happens if you press a glass on the Rash?

BitOftheSea · 18/08/2019 17:44

I hope someone calls you back soon, that looks nothing like chickenpox. How unwell are you feeling?

SeroxatBlonde · 18/08/2019 17:46

Yes, measles crossed my mind too but then measles looks like a viral rash too.

batteriesincluded · 18/08/2019 17:47

I'm 38

Drinking lots of water and appetite is fine

I thought I had the measles when I was younger but I could be wrong

Im not so unwell that I'm not eating, I managed to get a wash on and out to dry and I cooked myself some bone broth earlier. I do need to sit down after each activity as I feel a bit weak. I've been headachey off an on all week

ineedaholidaynow · 18/08/2019 17:53

Is nana your DM or MIL? If DM will she remember whether you have had measles or the measles vaccination

SeroxatBlonde · 18/08/2019 17:53

Yeah, sounds just like D's with HFM, wiped him out but could still eat and drink and potter around. His rash was so alarming though!

batteriesincluded · 18/08/2019 17:58

Had a call back, they said I need to see a doctor in next 2 hours so they've booked an emergency appointment for 7.15. Time to get out of my pj's

Lauresbadhairday · 18/08/2019 17:58

Do you have a fever? The rash on your leg looks like it could be erythema multiforme which can be caused by a viral infection or a reaction to medication. I would want that seen by a doctor today.
