Who are your favorite lady comedians?

I'll start off with Lucille Ball.

Are we using Comediennes for female comedians again? How retro.

I like Josie Long's voice, especially on Short Cuts, as it (her voice) sounds like a hug given by radio.

I love Zoe Lyons. And obviously Toksvig. Sandi is ossum.

6utter6ean · 18/08/2019 19:16

DoctorTwo I came on to say Zoe lyons!

And Sindhu Vee, Sharon Horgan, Jenny Éclair, Miranda Hart, Victoria Wood...

Never got French and Saunders and thought AbFab was a load of old tosh

Suzie Ruffell is great.

The nastiness and sneery, smug tone towards the OP on here is awful.

HollysTeflonSeptum · 18/08/2019 19:43

Totally agree,

no wonder she scarpered once the mean girls piled on.

It’s not even AIBU.

“The nastiness and sneery, smug tone towards the OP on here is awful.”

Really? Where?

noideaatallreally · 18/08/2019 19:53

Victoria Wood - her 'one soup; sketch still makes me cry laughing. So, so sad she is no longer here. Julie Walters and Acorn Antiques!!!!

Ditto the wonderful Caroline Aherne and the sublime Royale Family.

French and Saunders.

As pp has said the current comedians on Task Master are brilliant. I love Liza Tarbuck on that.

meow1989 · 18/08/2019 19:58

Josie Long has been consistently excellent over the years that I've seen her live and listened to her material.

I cant remember the comedian who has the show "Nanette" on Netflix but I thought she was brilliant.

Roisin connerty I like and Aisling bea. Jo brand I find very funny for the most part when her material isnt just "arent men bloody useless"

TheOnlySnot · 18/08/2019 19:59

Sarah millican. She is awesome and she loves cats. I love her 😍

I agree. Perhaps those who can't see it are prone to being snippy to posters on a regular basis.

joggerbottom · 18/08/2019 20:19

Another for Joan Rivers here

beccarocksbaby · 18/08/2019 22:14

Deborah Francis White
Ali Wong
Sophie Hagan

I've see DFW several times now and always amazing

DGRossetti · 19/08/2019 09:47

One to watch for: Rosie Jones (has appeared on Hypothetical and a couple of Comedy Central shows).

Mileysmiley · 19/08/2019 09:50

This always makes me laugh Smile

Meow, that's Hannah gadsby

BertrandRussell · 19/08/2019 14:35

Anyone who likes podcaasts- Stewart Goldsmith’s The Comedian’s Comedian has lots of interviews with woman comedians- including lots mentioned on here. The Sindhu Vee one is particularly interesting but there are loads!

Sammi38 · 19/08/2019 14:38

Kathy Burke! The woman is a legend, excellent in this years love. Also brilliant in a more serious role, such as nil by mouth. I don’t know why she’s never got the recognition she deserves.

Stand up comic, I’d say Katherine Ryan.

Also Richard Herring has ceaselessly plugged loads over the years (and is currently at the Fringe with some great comedians - Fern Brady mentioned upthread being one).

RHLSTP ...

Spidey66 · 19/08/2019 15:02

Another vote for Kathy Burke. I want to be her best friend, I imagine she'd be great to share a drink with down the pub.

Lou0390 · 19/08/2019 15:12

Jenifer Saunders
Caroline Aherne
Julia Davies
Amy Poehler
Tina Fey
