What has MN put you off?

MN has taught me so much but I no longer want to consider a Hot Tub ever since someone on here described it as clamydia soup. Just seen an advert for one and felt a bit sick. Used to love the idea.

@Ulverstonian - thanks I’ve never tried Cooking or Telly Addicts. I generally hang out in AIBU under my normal username so I might venture away from the dark side and hopefully find the MN light lol!

Ulverstonian · 11/08/2019 17:39

@namechange84
I think most of the specific interest ones are ok as you’re mixing with like minded people and can get good advice or discuss and debate (but in a nice way). I’m shocked at some of the vitriol towards other posters on AIBU.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 11/08/2019 17:43

@Aaarrgghhh you tumble dry tour towels all year round after using them once because you worry they aren't clean enough for your child?

I would be more worried about the state of the planet you are leaving them. But you clearly dont see it is much of an issue given you describe it as 'naughty'.

The obsession with cleanliness is going to fuck us all.

BossAssBitch · 11/08/2019 17:44

Children
Men! Happily married with a lovely, very loving and caring DH but if I was to go by the threads on MN, he is very much in the minority!

maddiemookins16mum · 11/08/2019 17:50

NCT (if indeed i was young enough to be pregnant).
Center Parcs.
Nandos.

BossAssBitch · 11/08/2019 17:50

Those of you who blithely wash your towels after every use, you should be ashamed of yourselves, your ignorance is deplorable.

And the poster who tumble dries her towels instead of hanging them out because she is worried that something outside will contaminate her child, seriously, I’m embarrassed for you.

Ulverstonian · 11/08/2019 17:50

I think I’m a bit slovenly compared to some mumsnetters.

I only separate my wash by colours. There was a post recently about how it’s unhygienic to wash underwear and tea towels together - surely the point of a washing machine is that everything comes out clean so it doesn’t really matter?

My towels and sheets are washed weekly and only tumble dried in the winter when it’s difficult to get them dry. We don’t seem to be any more prone to bugs than anyone else. It’s a cost thing as well as environmental.

Ulverstonian · 11/08/2019 17:52

@maddiemookins16mum

Nando’s is actually a very good place to go for a wee, the toilets are always very clean. Wouldn’t eat their food though. Smile

PenisBeaker is where I started with Mumsnet. I have a little glow of pride that I contributed to that. Some say it was a troll post. Was it ?

Of course it was, imo MN dramatically went downhill after that. Hopefully not due to your joining Wink

RaspberryRippleCrisps · 11/08/2019 18:59

Toilet brushes.
Penis beakers.

Daren't ask... apart from KFC being high in salt/fat/flavour and i never eat itBlushwhat 'else' is wrong with it?

SilverySurfer · 11/08/2019 19:43

I couldn't have children but had I been able to and MN was about during those prehistoric days, it would have put me off for life.

Sharing my home with a man or anyone - thanks but no thanks

The only way I will part with my loo brush is if you prise it out of my cold, dead hands.

I'm fucked because I drink more than a small glass of wine a month so am obviously an alcoholic.

Using any form of social media (I don't count MN as SM) or owning an ipod/pad thingy. I put £30 on my PAYG phone four years ago and haven't run out yet.

There are some very strange people with some very strange habits on MN.

Fate worse than death
But seeing as I only have boys, it's my destiny
Just hope I see any grandkids more than once a year

Oh yes!! Taking a baby on a girls weekend ANYWHEREShock

Aaarrgghhh · 11/08/2019 21:19

Ummmm yeah that’s crazy. Towel rails are easy to install in bathrooms and work too.

Our bathroom isn't big enough for one, our door opens into the only space which also has a radiator.

Aaarrgghhh · 11/08/2019 21:21

To be fair to myself, I wasn't always this way but the younger one does have health issues and we have cats that roam around (not ours) and I worry they won't be clean enough for her on a line.

NovemberWitch · 11/08/2019 21:26

Women in large groups. Never was keen IRL, but the bitchiness of AIBU and the wild leaping to inaccurate conclusions and the sneering at choices that are different...
It’s entertaining but I’d hate to actually meet most people here!

64sNewName · 11/08/2019 21:31

Loo brushes.

What was the thing about maggots in a Nespresso machine?! Did that happen to someone?

(I don’t have a Nespresso but I’m morbidly curious)

Ulverstonian · 11/08/2019 21:33

@NovemberWitch

I don’t think the ganging up and bitchiness on AIBU does women any favours either. Especially when a thread gets picked up by the press and ridiculed.

Drogosnextwife · 11/08/2019 21:33

@Aaarrgghhh my bathroom is the same, absolutely tiny. I hang my towels over the doors after we use them. Its done nothing but rain here all summer. I do that in winter too, with all my washing. Not got a tumble dryer.
MN has put me off men because it has made me see the behaviour of some men for what it actually is.
