What has MN put you off?

MN has taught me so much but I no longer want to consider a Hot Tub ever since someone on here described it as clamydia soup. Just seen an advert for one and felt a bit sick. Used to love the idea.

OP posts:

Yeah, it has put me off hot tubs though.

PenisBeaker is where I started with Mumsnet. I have a little glow of pride that I contributed to that. Some say it was a troll post. Was it ?

SpamChaudFroid · 11/08/2019 15:21

Another one for men Grin

And internet dating. It's a thing I've never tried and can safely say I never will thanks to MN Grin. It sounds just like a job interview!

Ronsters · 11/08/2019 15:26

Getting older. I'm 51 so must be getting into the early onset dementia/elderly lady saying/doing inappropriate things bracket.

Cherryade8 · 11/08/2019 15:26

Why would anyone wash towels after one use? I wash them every couple of months maybe ok I'm slack but never a sick day for me or kids so our immune systems and the environment benefit 🙈

Bravelurker · 11/08/2019 15:32

Smoking - anywhere.
In your own home - smell will seep into your neighbours house through the walls
Garden /balcony - smoke will disturb neighbours as the smoke will find its way into their house and they have to close their windows
Parks /beer gardens /smoking shelter - someone somewhere will have a child or be eating or have asthma.
I'm so glad I gave up but MN will ensure that I never smoke again.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 11/08/2019 15:44

Emma in fairness it does depends on how pedantic you are. If you Google 'Differences between sarcasm and irony', say, you can find and burn lunch while reading some pretty interesting debates.

Anyway, for me -

Posting about anything that's actually upset or worried me on Aibu.
People who write 'Yum' as a complete sentence.

DrDiva · 11/08/2019 15:46

Oh, me too, @Ronsters - I figure I might as well wear my approaching lunacy with pride.

CoffeeRunner · 11/08/2019 15:50

I second ever moving house - in case I end up with one of the CF neighbours other MNers seem to have!

S1naidSucks · 11/08/2019 15:58

Yay. I’m in the 51 club too, Ronsters. I’m actually really pleased that I’m not young. Young people are getting so fucked over by the messages they’re being fed, about appearance, sex, feminism, etc.

Mumsnet has put me right of the rainbow, since discovering how it has been taken over by misogynistic men and manipulated youngsters.

fluffyjumper · 11/08/2019 16:03

Drinking my husbands bedside water.

Nyctophilia · 11/08/2019 16:06

Sandwich spread....someone described it as pickled vomit

Manipulated youngsters?! Confused

BruceTheMoose · 11/08/2019 16:11

Men

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 11/08/2019 16:12

Having kids. Everyone is so miserable

Ulverstonian · 11/08/2019 16:12

Hot tubs, even the jacuzzi at the gym is now avoided. Still like the steam room though, or should I be avoiding that too?

I’ve always been disgusted by toilet brushes.

There are some pretty nasty posters on here but there are some lovely, supportive ones too. Must admit it has made me more wary of people in rl - some of these nasty posters must pretend to be nice in real life.

ShirleyPhallus Okay, I’m extra naughty here then because I tumble dry my towels. I use a clothes horse for other clothing so it usually has things on them. I also don’t hang them outside because (and this is probably over the top) I worry about them not being clean enough for the younger one.

Ummmm yeah that’s crazy. Towel rails are easy to install in bathrooms and work too.

allthegins · 11/08/2019 17:09

Feminism

S1naidSucks · 11/08/2019 17:12

I was going to say handmaidens, but I know they don’t like that, ShirleyPhallus.

NameChange84 · 11/08/2019 17:16

Other people.

And myself too.

My life was better before I discovered the nasty viper’s den of MN but unfortunately it’s addictive and I can’t keep away. Wish I was joking but I’m not.

I genuinely think I’ve become a nastier person since discovering Mumsnet Blush.

Violetparis · 11/08/2019 17:17

Ardent Remainers and I voted Remain.

Ulverstonian · 11/08/2019 17:20

@namechange84

I think you just have to pick your threads. If you stick to telly addicts, cooking etc then you’ll generally get food advice and talk to decent interesting people.

Agree that AIBU can be a vipers nest though.

Ulverstonian · 11/08/2019 17:21

Good advice, not food advice!

Stroller15 · 11/08/2019 17:21

Renting.
Everything is okay as long as you own your own house. Nevermind the many that happily rent, heaven forbid with children!
