I very stupidly looked at my undercarriage with a small mirror ......

Which I haven’t really done for a long long long long time. Prechildren probably 🥴

Wow it looks disgusting. I can’t get it out of my mind. DP was being very amorous last night and I didn’t want him near me as I’m so embarrassed.

I did have to look because I was bleeding from my backside (piles) and needed to know how bad the situation was back there. I have no reason to think I’ve got a prolapse or anything and my pelvic floor is very good, I can run, laugh, sneeze with no accidents. I don’t know though, does a post baby vagina/vulva look a lot different to a pre baby one?

OP posts:
PennyPitStop19 · 10/08/2019 00:02

I don’t think vaginas are ugly! Mine isn’t pre or post babies.... not showing off but I don’t like this negativity and it only makes women more self conscious.

Sagradafamiliar · 10/08/2019 00:07

Not sure why anyone would post a link to normalise vulvas in order to reassure PPs only to then say they're unattractive and ugly :/

SinisterBumFacedCat · 10/08/2019 00:24

hmmbop neither does mine. I’d happily trade it for one that does work no matter what it looks like. You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone. Sure people are allowed to feel how they feel, and I feel worrying about colour and length of a vulva is slightly shallow if it’s still working.

Incidentally I don’t think vulvas are ugly. Or penises. It’s like saying a finger is ugly.

HennyPennyHorror · 10/08/2019 00:37

I think there should be more images available of post-birth vaginas...medical type ones...so women (and men!) can see what's "normal" after a birth.

There's too much mystery. I had two sections and still never look at my own! Grin

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 10/08/2019 00:45

I actually think that's a great idea HennyPennyHorror

I had all these naive expectations about what a post birth body would be like. I was expressly told by Midwives etc that everything would 'snap back' because I was young and in my early twenties.

It was a shock to discover they lied. A big shock.

SoyDora · 10/08/2019 00:54

Anyway, after the last baby something shifted and I now orgasm more easily, so swings and roundabouts

This happened to me too! After baby number 3 I’ve found that I can orgasm from PIV alone, which never happened before!

ChocolateCroissants · 10/08/2019 00:58

I decided to look at mine the day after I had my second child (I’ve no idea why, I guess I thought I’d inspect the damage?!). My friend asked me to describe it... I said imagine if your vag was 10 times the size it’s meant to be, there’s been a multiple car pile up down there and you are left with some bits missing in places and extra bits in others. She replied “I’m never having children”.

No one looks at it though, so as long as it still works what does it matter?

ChocolateCroissants · 10/08/2019 01:00

Me too I didn’t realise how common this was. I was convinced childbirth would ruin sex but it’s actually much better post children.

Raggletagglegypsy · 10/08/2019 01:02

Well, as they say, ignorance is bliss - never occurred to me to try and look at it before I had children - and it has never crossed my mind since (until reading this thread - but, believe me, I will be able to resist the urge!)!

CakeNinja · 10/08/2019 01:09

Exactly the same as some others, I have never looked at mine Pre or post children! Why would you? Grin
Just seems a bit, er, I dunno, strange 🤷🏼‍♀️
Dp doesn’t complain, is always keen to visit my fanjo- he’s the one who has to see it! Ignorance is most certainly bliss - after birthing 3 kids I’m sure mine looks like an exploded pitta bread Grin

Sicario · 10/08/2019 01:12

Mine looks like a herd of Wildebeests has been through it. On the upside, I just made myself a grilled cheese sandwich at 1am which looks great.

nildesparandum · 10/08/2019 01:15

I have never had a vaginal birth, just two CS births.I have never had a look down there and my younger one is 47 now

Nannamia · 10/08/2019 01:18

Married 45 years, 2 vaginal births and I haven't looked at mine since 1981 Grin It hasn't put DH off though, so I'm assuming everything's all right. And I know it's not the intention of this thread but I haven't laughed so much in years. MN at its honest, funniest, self deprecating best.

TheABC · 10/08/2019 01:21

My undercarriage still looks tidy after two births, but I never pushed a baby through it. My flipping C-section scar on the other hand is gruesome and I have achieved an apron of flesh over it.Sad

If you don't get it one way, I guess it goes the other.

Soola · 10/08/2019 01:23

@PennyPitStop19 exactly! Mine isn’t ugly either.

I’m 53 and mine looks more or less the same as it always has other than for a few months after each time I gave birth.

Obviously if women have had tears then they might look different than before but I never tore thankfully.

Does putting on weight make a difference down below? Maybe that’s why some look drastically different??

watcheait · 10/08/2019 01:29

I had a cs, no natural birth so didn't realise that things can change 'down there', however I have a very unattractive cs tummy overhang.

TwistinMyMelon · 10/08/2019 01:44

only non-medical person who gets near my undercarriage is deeply appreciative.

And so they should!

Benjispruce · 10/08/2019 08:25

No I haven’t put on weight. Agree with ABC you get it one way- I have zero stretch marks on my abdomen or boobs .

SoyDora · 10/08/2019 08:39

To be honest I never expected my body to be completely the same after growing, carrying and birthing 3 humans. That wouldn’t be realistic.

fotheringhay · 10/08/2019 09:29

I've looked at it more often recently as I'm unfortunately single again (cheers xh) and I didn't want to be shy of new men seeing it.

I 'went in' with the attitude that whatever it looks like I'm going to make myself be ok with it.

We're so conditioned to think that vaginas are unattractive, and only barely acceptable if they're 'perfect', but that's nonsense. As a pp said they're no more objectively unattractive than a finger. Much more interesting in fact!

Men should feel bloody lucky to get near them! Incidentally I don't think penii are objectively unattractive either.

But it's really important if there's something genuinely wrong or a woman is seriously distressed by it, that there should be help available. I believe French women are quite into little gadgets to tighten up after birth (seems a lot of hassle though)

happycamper11 · 10/08/2019 14:12

I'm sure even mine is different and both dc have been planned sections

Fraggling · 10/08/2019 15:05

As long as there's no pain, and sexual response is still intact then what's the bother?

Don't worry over something that the man you're with won't think twice about. I mean that nicely.

Mens genitals are not attractive. I mean, ever. Scrotums are fundamentally not pretty.

I come miles quicker than I did before kids, it's like things got jiggled around. I haven't had a vaginal delivery though. Emcs etc

Please don't obsess on your bits. If it feels good and you're both happy then who the fuck cares?

On that thought I am v different in looks all over to when I met dh... And so is he. If you love each other / etc then.

Please stop worrying xx
