Sorry if there is already a post on this- I can't see one- but why are the media being so lax in their reporting of the London teen missing in Malaysia? Please no comments about how she's not 3, blonde and the child of doctors.... I'm not interested in McCann bashing. Just interested in why they're not reporting widely on it? It hasn't even been on the front page of BBC news online or a headline since it happened

Also if this had happened in the UK it may not have made the news. One of the biggest things that has stayed with me from any of the safeguarding training I've had at work is that so much of what happens to children doesn't make the press and the picture is much worse than we hear from the few high profile cases that do make the headlines.

Sniffer dogs gone out this morning. Let’s hope they find her.

I'm watching from a holiday abroad with my dc also 15. I can't even begin to imagine what the poor family are going through. I keep checking the news in the hope of her safe return.

I think this has been covered quite a lot over the last few days, although nothing on the scale of MM. However, it has been quite a busy news weeks which could also be why it perhaps hasn't been the dominating story?

Propertyofhood · 10/08/2019 13:49

I also can't imagine what her family are going through. It's very strange, and I really hope she is found soon.

Do impressed with the dignity and composure of her parents. Can't begin to imagine what they are going through.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 10/08/2019 14:03

That’s just how they’re coping. Nothing to be impressed by! If they were falling apart and unable to string a sentence together that would be just as valid a way of dealing with it too. Let’s not start with the applause for “handling” their worst nightmare.

I can't imagine for a moment that the parents are involved. Her mother looked on the edge of reason at the press call. I think the story is getting an appropriate amount of coverage and regular updates. The Vietnamese tourist however, not so much. I'm in Yorkshire, not far from York and only saw any mention of this yesterday.
