I'm going cold turkey from eating chocolate

DianaPrinceRocks · 06/08/2019 15:32

Would anyone be willing to join me Blush? I reckon I have at least 21 days ahead of me before I'll feel on top of it.

I'm starting tomorrow as I've already binged today (large bar of Dark Milk and sharing bag of M&M's Blush). I know I need to stop and thankfully I feel ready as I'm sick of feeling bloated and tired and generally awful.

I've been lurking on a few of the other chocolate addiction threads but didn't want to hijack them and couldn't decide the best place to put this so I stuck with Chat.

I've got a fridge full of fruit and some choc syrup and options choc powder as a backup. I've just remembered there's half a bar of dark rum and raisin hiding in the house but I'm going to throw it away tonight 🤞.

I'm going to keep drinking loads of nice sugar free drinks to keep me full hopefully, but otherwise I'm going to eat normally. I'm just as addicted to buying it as eating it, so lunchtimes will be my weakness when I pop out.

It feels very indulgent to start a thread but I hope writing it down might help Blush.

Hello all, I’ve been awol too. Everyone is doing so well!

Happy belated birthdays to Something and MrsMozart’s daughter!
I started this two days after my birthday, after the chocolate had all been eaten 😂
Day 23 now!

MadisonAvenue · 27/08/2019 11:52

Oh, and we spent almost three hours in the cinema yesterday afternoon watching Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and I’d usually have a load of chocolate but all I had was half a packet of Polos and my bottle of water, so that was another win.

DianaPrinceRocks · 27/08/2019 22:03

I can't believe I've reached Day 21!

Bagel I forgot to tell you about my strawberries - for a nighttime nibble I chop them up really small and cover them in sweetener (not v healthy but needs must Wink). It's like eating a big bowl of low calorie sweets 🍬.

Madison well done on the cinema!! That's another milestone!

I'm still 'paying' myself every day but I've reduced the amount so I've just over 40 quid now woohoo. Once I hit 28 days I'm going to reduce it again.

Don't miss the chocolate yet mentally or physically- can't believe it but everyone on this thread has made all the difference.

Hi everyone
I’ve just realised I’ve passed the three week mark! Day 22 and I hadn’t even noticed!!
I think this is really working - thanks so much Diana for starting me off,
and by the way, I’ve now lost 11lbs Grin

MrsMozartMkII · 28/08/2019 19:03

MadisonAvenue thank you. She had the most wonderful time.

Very very well done to all! Am rightly impressed with how all are doing SmileBrew

Can't remember what day I'm on... But another supermarket trip and still no chocolate bought (didn't nick any either GrinShock).

MrsMozartMkII · 28/08/2019 19:09

I think I'm day 25 no chocolate, and day 5 no crap (at least my version of no crap lol).

MrsMozartMkII · 28/08/2019 19:10

Oops - Day 24 no chocolate and Day 3 no crap Grin

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 28/08/2019 22:13

Everyone’s doing brilliantly!

Back in the office for the first time in a week and I managed to ignore the siren call of the biscuit tin, crammed with chocolatey treats.

igivein - 11 pounds is amazing! Well done! Is that just from cutting out chocolate or have you ditched other stuff as well?

DianaPrinceRocks · 29/08/2019 21:16

Igivein same reaction from me - 11lbs is fantastic - huge week done ThanksStar.

I'm a disgrace and lost no weight last week cos I ate every non choccie biscuit and cake in a 10 mile radius BlushGrin.

MrsMozart well done on the new no crap streak - even 3 days is brilliant Grin.

Something well done on the office resistance! All this willpower makes us stronger!

I'm feeling great - I almost can't remember that feeling of binging on chocolate now. I definitely have more mental and physical energy and I'm finding it easier to get up in the mornings. Long may it last and keep going everyone!

Oops sorry it said it hadn't worked first time Hmm.

MrsMozartMkII · 30/08/2019 07:46

Igivein that loss is excellent! Well done indeed.

DianaPrinceRocks you sound so good!

No chocolate - Day 26
No crap - Day 5

Still feel bleugh, but have wonky health so is probably that. I'm hoping the removal of all the bad-for-me-stuff helps make the wonky less so.

DianaPrinceRocks · 31/08/2019 21:09

Aw MrsMozart I'm sorry you're still feeling wonky - but no doubt what you're doing has to be good for you. Maybe it will just take a while to work it's way through your system 🤞.

Survived another day but I'm still vulnerable - I had a crazy day till about 5pm and I'd only had (a late) breakfast. So I was tired, frazzled and hungry and a big bar of chocolate snuck into my head.

I resisted which is good and a relief but I just hate that it's still my pattern of thinking. Anyway I shouldn't be moaning, I've another day ticked off and I guess the longer I keep going the easier it will get Confused.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 31/08/2019 22:53

Well done for resisting despite being knackered and hungry, Diana!

Day 10 for me and I’m not really craving it. I won’t pretend that my diet’s been exemplary, though. I seem to be diving recklessly into the carbs.

RNBrie · 31/08/2019 23:29

I'd like to join please. Just spent the evening binging on M&S chocolate shortbread wheels and this has to stop !!

Trixibell79 · 31/08/2019 23:38

I’m late in joining too but I’d really like to try! Just returned from holidays and apart from some Milka there, it made me realise that I CAN survive without eating sharing bags of Cadbury’s brands daily ( usually in secret too so I recognise this as a sign of addiction😬)
I had thought about paying myself a £1 a day too OP then I stumbled across your thread. I’ve fallen into bad eating habits and like other posters “reward” myself after getting the kids in bed. I really want do this!
Big breath, here I go ......

MrsMozartMkII · 01/09/2019 08:10

DianaPrinceRocks thank you. It's ongoing wonky health. Eating the wrong stuff doesn't help but I slip into it on a depressingly regular basis. Can you carry some nuts or similar in your bag?

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool I think our bodies are in revolt!

RNBrie welcome! You can do this.

RNBrie come on in!

Day 27 no chocolate
Day 7 no crap

igivein · 03/09/2019 11:39

Hi Everyone
Sorry I didn't respond earlier, been deep in sorting out new school uniform / shoes etc (and if that didn't drive me to chocolate nothing will!).
Still going well here.
I'm trying to adopt a mindset of treating my body well, so not thinking about cutting things out but more about having good, nutritious stuff. So I have been generally avoiding crap and it's paying off.
I'm officially 1 stone down now!!!
I've done 28 days, and someone said up-thread that's how long it takes to form a habit, so hopefully I've cracked it - we shall see ...
Going to give it another week to be sure and then try and form a new habit - going cold turkey on the diet coke.
Well done everyone for hanging on in there, and welcome RNBrie and Trixibell79 you can do this - the first couple of days are hard, but then it gets much easier!

MadisonAvenue · 03/09/2019 12:06

Just a very quick check in to say I'm still around and it's Day 30 here and no thoughts of chocolate!

DianaPrinceRocks · 03/09/2019 21:27

SomethingNasty don’t worry about your diet Wink once you’re not craving that’s the main thing.

RNBrie and Trixibell welcome! You can do this! How is it going since Sunday?

MrsMozart Nuts! I would never have thought of nuts and I love them (in a non-addictive way). Thank you - I will get some next time I’m starving.

Igivein OMG a stone that’s fantastic well done Star! We’re twins in days but not even close on weight lossEnvyWink.

Madison woohoo you can start counting in weeks now Wink.

Can’t believe I’ve made 28 days! Although sitting here watching Bake Off I know I’m not out of the woods yet - those choccie biscuits did look lovely Hmm. But I will be strong- I feel like a different person to 4 weeks ago and I’m not doing anything to damage that Halo.

MrsMozartMkII · 03/09/2019 21:50

igivein blinking brilliant loss lass!

MadisonAvenue yay you!

DianaPrinceRocks you're doing so well.

Day 29 no chocolate (I think, I might've lost count somewhere)
Day 9 no crap

I still think about buying chocolate... No idea how long it'll take me to be able to take it or leave it.

igivein · 05/09/2019 12:39

Hi Diana we might not be twins in weight loss, but I rather suspect we're not twins in weight either ... (I'm morbidly obese, so a stone, although definitely a step in the right direction, is just the start of the journey).
Thanks MrsMozart - glad there's someone else doing the whole 'no crap' thing. You're doing brilliantly!

MrsMozartMkII · 05/09/2019 14:22

igivein Thank you. As are you lass Smile

Not well today. Might be The Wonky, might be a bug, might be having overdone it a tad over the last few days, who knows, but whatever it is, I haven't given in to either the chocolate or the crap! They're my usual go-to when the energy levels drop this low, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Am quietly chuffed with myself for not stuffing my face even though I've wanted to.

Day 31 no chocolate - I know the day isn't over, but there isn't any in the house, other than Magnums which I'm not that keen on
Day 11 no crap - yay me!

igivein · 05/09/2019 21:21

Well done MrsMozart I hope you’re feeling better soon!

MrsMozartMkII · 05/09/2019 22:31

igivein Thank you kindly Smile. I think it's boiled down to just being a cold. I used to get really bad ones and I'm not sure what to do with this comparatively mild thing. Am quietly bemused at myself for not having my usual go-to crap. Maybe, in time, it won't even cross my mind as a thing Smile
