Can’t sleep, anyone else awake?

actionpacked · 06/08/2019 03:44

Suffering with mild anxiety lately hence the not sleeping. Seems to come and go and can last anything between a few nights and a few weeks/months. Feeling quite mild at the moment but from previous experience it can either creep up or hit me like a bolt.

So, enough of my pity party, anyone else awake who would like a chat? About absolutely anything! What did you have for dinner? What’s your job? Bought anything new lately - do you rate it or hate it? Funny stories? Dating disasters? Think I’ve exhausted all threads in classics/chat/aibu but need to keep my mind on something other than how anxious I’m feeling because that just makes me worse Blush

Made a cup of tea because I’m all hot and bothered and I read somewhere that tea cools you down, few glasses of wine would probably have the opposite effect but could help with the sleeping Grin

Night shift here.
I’m a nurse.
I’m tired.
So, so tired but have to keep going to 8.30 in the morning, started at 7.30 last night.
I’m on a break now.
Looking at jobs, need a new job.

I'm awake. My partner is working away so I often don't sleep as well without him. I have anxiety too.

MK1975 · 06/08/2019 04:19

My cat has come to share the bed a little while ago. But not sure it's helping on the sleeping front.

HeronLanyon · 06/08/2019 04:24

actionpacked just gave up on sleep and made a coffee. Sorry you are suffering anxiety.
I’ve recently suffered a bereavement and it’s really taken a toll on my sleep. Just general anxiety/stress/grief type disruption.
I’ve found simple things like shutting windows and my amazing black out curtains, taking a nytol (or similar otc sleep aid), not drinking, having bedroom clean and calm help. Trouble is I can’t always be bothered with that - it’s sometimes a struggle to do much !

I’ve got a big day at work in a bit. Thank goodness I can cope with not much sleep but know it’s doing its own damage and need a holiday whenever that becomes possible.

Hugs to all struggling with sleep - 4.20 feels like the day has started for me over the last few months !

I'm awake as usual as I dont sleep well. Contemplating doing some cross stitching to pass the time. But tired stitching can be a recipe for disaster! Grin Also debating with myself if I want to read Spiderman fanfic or Star Trek fanfic. But there's also the lure of Harry Potter fics...
Can you tell I'm a geek? 😆

HeronLanyon · 06/08/2019 04:26

action just wondering if you had had a few glasses of wine rather than your tea would that count as morning drinking ? Tough call. Grin

notacooldad · 06/08/2019 04:29

Me.
I'm at work. I should have been asleep since 11.30 but we are having ' issues' I am supposed to be back on duty for 7.00 but if I go back to bed now I'll probably wont wake up!
I cant sleep anyway. I've got too much adrenalin going around me!

actionpacked · 06/08/2019 04:33

crosser hopefully the rest of your shift goes quickly for you. I always imagine would on night shift come home and flop straight into bed but thinking about it you probably don’t - that’d be like me finishing work at 5pm and being asleep by 6pm.

MK oooo what did you have?

build I’d like a cat who comes for a cuddle in bed, mine is nocturnal and just wants to zoom around the house all night and sleep all day!

Me! horrendous sleeper and have been for the last year or two. Once I'm awake that's me up for the day.

Luckily, I don't have to get up for work, I'm a SAHM. I have anxiety and OCD plus fibromyalgia and would give anything to sleep normally.
On the plus side, my eyesight is fantastic as I sit in the dark in the kitchen on my phone, plenty of cups of tea and I don't want to put a light on as my kitchen is at the front of my house.

Anxiety is rubbish. I find YouTube meditations are fantastic. Highly recommend Dauschy meditations and Michael Sealey. Always helps me when listening to either of them.

I'm awake because I've had a trip booked for DH big birthday (this week) and air bnb host cancelled the booking due to a leak! Due to the events in the city (that we have spent a fortune on tickets for) there isn't much alternative accommodation that isn't ridiculously expensive. I feel so bloody stressed. Managed to book another airbnb but it's their first booking, no reviews, so now I'm panicking about that one 🙈

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having a tough time heron Flowers It’s not sunrise yet so technically it’s still nighttime Grin I could get a few glasses down before morning Grin

Oooo notacooldad that sounds interesting! (I realise it’s probably not and you’d much rather be asleep right now Grin)

I love ‘on the plus side my eyesight is fantastic!’ - that’s a very positive slant Grin

Hopefully your new accommodation will be fantastic anotheryearover

I'm lying in a hotel room in my home city. Hadn't been home in 11 years and heading back to the UK tomorrow so thinking about the flight and travel plans. Lovely to read about you all

FaithHowellsYellowCoat · 06/08/2019 04:47

Have you had a good time Lisette? Did you see family?

notacooldad · 06/08/2019 04:48

No it's not interesting. It's been worrying and theres going to be a hell of a lot of paperwork tomorrow, an investigation and reports going on. I'm a bit shaken up tbh.

LittleAndOften · 06/08/2019 04:50

Morning. Wish I'd found you guys earlier - I've been up since 2am. DH threw something major at me yesterday and I've been crying and thinking all night. DS will be awake soon and bump is kicking merrily!
