Can’t sleep, anyone else awake?

actionpacked · 06/08/2019 03:44

Suffering with mild anxiety lately hence the not sleeping. Seems to come and go and can last anything between a few nights and a few weeks/months. Feeling quite mild at the moment but from previous experience it can either creep up or hit me like a bolt.

So, enough of my pity party, anyone else awake who would like a chat? About absolutely anything! What did you have for dinner? What’s your job? Bought anything new lately - do you rate it or hate it? Funny stories? Dating disasters? Think I’ve exhausted all threads in classics/chat/aibu but need to keep my mind on something other than how anxious I’m feeling because that just makes me worse Blush

I went to the wedding of an old friend and saw lots of other friends. All my family emigrated to Australia so there's no family here for me. They are a really difficult group of people and I'm not in contact. So that's why it's been so emotional to come back.

On the other hand I got a lovely welcome home from friends Grin

The place smells different. And the transport system has had changes. Also I managed to get lost yesterday Grin

I'm joining in too. Awake due to mixture of anxiety, jet lag (back from work trip abroad on Sunday & body clock all over the place) & grief as I keep being blindsided by emotions as my dad's first anniversary approaches in a few days & I still can't believe it's real 😞

Lisette1940 · 06/08/2019 04:58

Sorry to hear that Little Flowers

Notopel · 06/08/2019 04:58

Been awake since 3ish. Middle of the night panic attacks and just not managed to get back to sleep.

Luckily I’ve not got to do anything today other than entertain 5 yr old DS. Plan was to head to a local park for an animal petting event but looking suspiciously at the weather forecast.

Sat here drinking my tea and thinking that someone really needs to invent a cup that keeps tea at that optimal level of ‘hot’, for longer, but still needs to be ceramic for the feel of hot tea warming hands.

Lisette1940 · 06/08/2019 05:01

I like the idea of an animal petting event. Listening to the low rumble of traffic.

GlamGiraffe · 06/08/2019 05:09

I should have looked here a hour ad a had ago! Been awake readig all kind of stuff online includig desk chair profiles. Can't sleep.

LittleAndOften · 06/08/2019 05:10

Thanks Lisette. It's our anniversary today. Irony! I'm sorry so many of you are suffering with panic and anxiety. Sending you all permanently hot tea ☕

FreedomFidgit · 06/08/2019 05:11

Morning all! Been up since three-ish too! Combination of peri-menopausal sleep disturbance, and over thinking. My best friend of 30 years appears to have forgotten I exist and excluding me from girlie get togethers and I don’t think I have caused any offence (has had form for this over the years) - just seems worse at 3 o’clock in the morning.

Notopel · 06/08/2019 05:11

Rabbits, guinea pigs, goats and ponies apparently. And crazy golf.

I’m running out of ideas for things to do now. We’ve got a sunny day/rainy day idea jar with post-it notes of things to do. Going to wait until the weather is absolutely hideous, and then head to the ice cream parlour - guaranteeing we’ll avoid the sunny day tourist throng. ☀️

actionpacked · 06/08/2019 05:12

I’ll be dipping by noon at this rate. Luckily, I’m not in work today. That’s sometimes worse though because once you sit down you could easily fall asleep Grin

My cat’s just informed me that he’s ready for his breakfast by charging against the door.

I'm a housekeeper at a large holiday park and am currently having a coffee before hoovering a huge restaurant. I work a few hours in the morning before dd and dh get up, much easier to fit in. Bit tired though as was here enjoying the perks of the job last night and haven't had much sleep. Also no chance of any today with a dd and a puppy

IncyWincyGrownUp · 06/08/2019 05:19

Not managed to sleep yet. I’m going to be good for nothing today. Again.

TheAgeofAnxiety · 06/08/2019 05:19

Morning! Have slept 3 am to now. I'm coming off sertraline, half way through, and the anxiety is getting the best of me

I'm another one that's wide awake,I have been since just before 4.

I have to be up early and in a meeting by 9 as well so could really do with the sleep.

I can't sleep because I can't stop sodding itching,no idea why and I've taken an antihistamine, had a bath and washed my hair and I'm still sodding itching.

GlamGiraffe · 06/08/2019 05:21

@Freedom that's awful about your friend. So upsetting. What do you finished got in her head? Usually it's some non thing someone's got totally the wrong idea about and taken huge offence at and you have not a clue way theyre even talking about. Its like saying im not keen on M&S and thry think i have clothes from there she doesn't like me, not talking to her any more. I have experienced this anyway. It's weird, or maybe I just know very odd people!

@Notopel Ice cream...whats your fave flavour? I LOVE ice cream. Has to be one of my favourite things. I really like proper vanilla though.am quite partial to a mango sorbet although that's not actually ice cream. Had some if the best ice cream ever in Coatia of all places.
Best flavours everyone? Or is it just me?

Mango sorbet is gorgeous Smile. Wish mangoes were better designed though.

Walnutwhipster · 06/08/2019 05:27

I haven't slept, mum's funeral today. I'm going for a bath

GlamGiraffe · 06/08/2019 05:27

@HeronLanyon And? Progress ith the chairs? Oh I'm so tired my typing is terrible. This is taking me ages. This chair us for my 17yr old. He's hurt his back I badly and the osteopath has demanded he has a new desk chair. Got a gpod reconditioned webdite she sends everyone to and someone else i know buys from for expensive chairs at a much lower price in great condition but trying to work out which is best for him. He's 6ft2 and as uncoordinated as they come!

Lisette1940 · 06/08/2019 05:27

I like Pralines and cream by Haagen dazs

Notopel · 06/08/2019 05:28

@GlamGiraffe We’re in a coastal town with a locally produced ice-cream brand that locals rave about. Seriously - last meal type of loyalty. I don’t see it myself, but quite glad to see that DS has established himself quite firmly here by declaring that there is no better ice-cream than the Vanilla of this local brand. 🤨

I quite fancy a knickerbockerglory type affair. Not had one since I’ve been grown up.
