Is this the most overused term on MN at the moment?

'You seem to be quite controlling' ...

I've seen it on 4 threads in the last 15 minutes of being on here. Someone says they're not happy about something and they're controlling. Someone says they'd like to change plans and they're controlling. Want to have some input in your child's life? You're controlling. Changed your mind? Controlling.

It's getting rather trying! Grin Apologies if this makes me sound controlling but for the love of god.

'My DH left the milk on the counter even though I repeatedly asked him not to. AIBU to be less than impressed? What should I do?'

Cue chorus of 'Leave him'.

There is also, when an OP gets a little defensive after being told they are unreasonable, the very original:

“OP: AIBU
Whole of Mumsnet: Yes!
OP: No I’m not!”

Some posters can’t wait to wheel that dusty old one out; usually when it’s only a slight majority of posters saying YABU.

As much as mental health being at the forefront of life these days is a good thing, it's made everyone an expert.

Seeing a lot of 'calling out' these days too.

Friend says she doesn't fancy going out tonight, I think she's made other plans - 'Call her out OP!'.

BIL had a shit in my toilet - 'Call him out, the disgusting pig!'.

Aunt Flo/AF/time of the month or any other twee nonsense referring to menstruation.

LowbrowVictoriana · 06/08/2019 17:37

Also thankfully falling out of favour:

"And breathe" after a randy post.

"This too shall pass" Bog off.

LowbrowVictoriana · 06/08/2019 17:38

Oops, after a ranty post. Blush

sonjadog · 06/08/2019 18:01

"Calling out" makes me think of dueling with swords, 17th century style.

StealthPolarBear · 07/08/2019 11:26

Never mind "and breathe" it's usually "and breath"

NoSauce · 07/08/2019 11:29

Never mind "and breathe" it's usually "and breath”

Yes. Yes it is. Always annoys me.
