Is this the most overused term on MN at the moment?

'You seem to be quite controlling' ...

I've seen it on 4 threads in the last 15 minutes of being on here. Someone says they're not happy about something and they're controlling. Someone says they'd like to change plans and they're controlling. Want to have some input in your child's life? You're controlling. Changed your mind? Controlling.

It's getting rather trying! Grin Apologies if this makes me sound controlling but for the love of god.

Narc. So overused that it has developed its own nickname.

BenWillbondsPants · 03/08/2019 18:56

getting your ducks in a row oh I fucking hate this one!

'I'm going to go against the grain here' is another one - normally repeating exactly what everyone else has said so no fucking going against any fucking grain.

I seem to be getting a little tense here.

"Good Grief" is very overused by the particularly condescending types of mumsnetters.

WorraLiberty · 03/08/2019 18:58

It’s been replaced by narc Worra. Everyone’s a psychiatrist or read an article online

Oh god yes, 'narc' is another one!

NiLunNiLautre · 03/08/2019 19:00

Vile seems to be on the wane, too, thankfully.

StealthPolarBear · 03/08/2019 19:15

Hihellohi add that to God's own country. Used to describe anything from the lake district to Birmingham New Street station

StealthPolarBear · 03/08/2019 19:15

And horrid

StealthPolarBear · 03/08/2019 19:16

Always makes me think of Julia Donaldson rhyming it with worried

Freshstart40 · 03/08/2019 19:19

"What fresh hell is this?" Is another one. (Over)used lightheartedly but stilll Grin

midsomermurderess · 03/08/2019 19:24

Gosh seems to be appearing more and more frequently. So people really say 'gosh'? It sounds so twee and mimsy.

SavagelyGardening · 03/08/2019 19:29

are you always this controlling?

is your partner always so nasty?

have you always hated your stepchild?

Always seems to be a popular one at the moment too.

Pellegrinopolly · 03/08/2019 19:31

he or she sounds unhinged

you sound like a martyr

InDubiousBattle · 03/08/2019 19:36

Wow. Just wow.

ZazieTheCat · 03/08/2019 19:38

@Hihellohi Glad I’m not the only one. Ick.

which1 · 03/08/2019 19:41

I see the following here lots but rarely in real life...

  • rant
  • give your head a wobble
  • describing people as batshit
  • pull your big girl pants on : that one makes me shudder
CherryPlum · 03/08/2019 19:42

'OP, are you me?' - gets repetitive

Goforitgirl · 03/08/2019 19:43

‘I work in quite a niche industry’

x2boys · 03/08/2019 19:44

BelulahBlanca · 03/08/2019 19:47

Wombleish · 03/08/2019 19:49

I love 'boils my piss', but in actual fact, it's usually other people's piss I boil.

InDubiousBattle · 03/08/2019 19:52

Cherry yeah, that is annoying.

'E-bay/amazon/whatever the fuck .......is your friend op' grates on my nerves too.

Robin2323 · 03/08/2019 20:01

I used to be a 'cool wife'
But I'm not anymore.
I've got my eyes wide open.

user1493494961 · 03/08/2019 20:01

I've found my people!

Rachelover40 · 03/08/2019 20:04

Patroclus
Im just glad 'entitled' dissapeared finally. Didnt even make sense

Quite agree! A person is entitled 'to' something or have a 'sense of entitlement'.

Another word is, "Judgey". Is it really too difficult to type 'judgemental'?

Rachelover40 · 03/08/2019 20:04

'has' - not 'have'.
