I've fucked up my bathroom. Help me fuck it up more?

So it needed repainting. I stupidly let my son choose the colour. He is SO proud of himself and loves it. It looks the the changing rooms of our local shit council swimming pool.

It's absolutely fucking awful Grin

So. Do I add white blinds, wooden blinds to help soften it?

Or do I throw EVERYTHING into the fuckit bucket and get hot pink blinds and flamingo the fuck out of it?

P.s if you recognise the photo please don't out me.

Guilty myself of going with kids choices...

Tile stickers are fantastic if they bother you too much, especially a Moroccan pattern x

The teal is horrendous but I think you should go all out now and maybe get some palm leaf stencils and some gold leaf and go over it!

THIS ^^

I would also get a white fabric shower curtain and stencil that too, maybe in teal as well as gold. It will hide the walls around the bath.

Plus plants big and small, trailing, etc.. You could fit a few on your window ledge.

MidnightMystery · 01/08/2019 19:17

Getting beach vibes!
Get some shells in there, I love the toilet seat with the seahorse on it!

itsahardknocklife87 · 01/08/2019 19:17

I rather like if

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 01/08/2019 19:25

Yes - I actually quite like it. Imagine it in the winter - will seem quite cosy (if you get rid of the horrid loo seat!).

JaneEB · 01/08/2019 19:31

I actually quite like it, add in a nice white perfect fit blind and it will work quite well.

I should add that our bathroom is a light purple, with a white suite and fitted furniture. the blind (perfect fit, I love them but only used them this time because the window goes behind where the stink pipe is boxed in) is very pale green and the tiles are a slightly darker green.

It sounds awful but it works well.

luckylorca · 01/08/2019 19:40

Paint the tiles white (most important!), add a white loo seat and white blinds etc, plus a big fern-like plant and the blue paint will suddenly look fresh!

AlansLeftMoob · 01/08/2019 19:42

Go beachy!! The more I look at it the more I think it's kinda cute in a beach-hut sort of way, get one of those useless giant conch shells and whack it on the windowsill, plus that toilet seat someone posted with the seahorse and shells on it.

AnneOfAvonlea · 01/08/2019 19:43

I quite liked this initially but in the different light now agree it is a bit grim.

Sorry OP. I feel your pain

ohtheholidays · 01/08/2019 20:08

The walls look gorgeous!

You can get white wooden loo seats,we have one and it looks really nice,we got ours from Dunelm and it was only about £30 and it's really well made as well.

ODFOx · 01/08/2019 20:12

The problem isn't the teal, it's the dodgy pinky faun tiling.
If you can't change the tiles, keep the faun and go gold.
Metallics clash with/work with everything.
Gold loo seat, gold pineapples, gold toothmug: you cannot add too much.
In fact, I think rose gold/copper is still in the shops: it'll soften the tile colour and juxtapose with the teal.

Do not change the teal. Your boy chose it and he isn't wrong; no-one could pick a colour that would make the tiles OK.

shoesarefab · 01/08/2019 20:14

I like it 🤷‍♀️ You need to paint the tiles white though, and then go EXTRA. get some flamingos in, gold accents (bog brush, toothbrush holder etc), Debenhams do a tropical Mathew Williamson shower curtain that would work well. It would make me smile every time I went to the toilet 😊

BenWillbondsPants · 01/08/2019 20:21

I'm in full agreement with going extra in this case.

Flamingo with things you can change easily in case you decide on porcupines in 6 months time.

Oh and def a white toilet seat. Photos when it's done please. Smile

mellicauli · 01/08/2019 20:23

I might go a bit nuts with some stickers..here's one from Blik that would work just fine

My whole house, bar my wee girls bedroom, has completely neutral walls, but I really really want to turn my downstairs toilet into a teeny disco. I’m not even joking. 😁

MerdedeBrexit · 01/08/2019 20:24

I see no problem. I love it. Oh, except, why is the loo roll on the seat and not in a loo roll holder (with the paper hanging down the correct way, from behind/underneath the roll)? Keep the wooden seat, white would look much worse.

mellicauli · 01/08/2019 20:25

Or maybe some birds (again from www.whatisblik.com/

nitgel · 01/08/2019 20:26

Is it dulux striking cyan ? My d's has this in his room. It looks nice with gloss white and I would add a few plants to that room.

NotYourHolidayDick · 01/08/2019 20:28

I took everything off the walls so I could paint proper like. I'm ace at painting. My cutting in is straight as an arrow. That's why the toilet roll is abandoned.

I only got home from my day out a couple hours ago. I have managed to buy a gold mirror en route home, much to my husbands disgust.

And stop called it teal. It's definitely dog dick blue.

I'd be very proud if my dc painted the bathroom Smile - I don't think it's bad at all, don't want to know what that says about me Blush
I am also all for hot pink blinds and flamingos Grin

sashadasher · 01/08/2019 20:32

My dh painted over mustard 70's style tiles in loo in old house in simple white satin emulsion. It worked a treat, was cheap, was easy to wipe down and didn't peel or chip.I was really impressed at the end result.

BakedBeeeen · 01/08/2019 20:41

I agree it's the brown/beige tiles and wooden loo seat that make it look sooo dated. The blue with painted white tiles would look nice and fresh. I also like the bird stickers/stencils that a PP posted!

MummyMayo1988 · 01/08/2019 20:45

My bathroom and downstairs loo are that exact colour and I love it. White candles and towels and maybe white toilet seat and it'll look lovely!
I've also got some pics on the wall in white frames - just to break it up a bit.

MargotLovedTom1 · 01/08/2019 20:45

Hmm, I strongly dislike that blue. I would paint over the walls with a plum/aubergine colour which would go much better with the tiles.

Google "What accessories to use in a blue bathroom with white tiles?" You will get tons of ideas on how to soften the look up. I have just had a quick look and there is tons of pages and websites with ideas.

If the accessories are the expensive range look for a cheaper version of say ''towel rails'' in Argos rather than in Victoria Plumb, in the colour/design. It doesn't have to be high end products to produce the same look. This way everyone is happy
