What drives you mad about MNers?

I woke up grumpy today and reading some posts is making me grumpier. Perhaps I'm turning into a curmudgeon. But sometimes I read posts and think "Good grief, woman, you don't help yourself, do you?"

The gems that seem to pop up with alarming regularity: "We live rurally and I don't drive" in a post complaining of a lack of access to, well, anything really.

Or: "We don't have any family close by to babysit so DH and I haven't been out on our own since 2004." Do what we all do then and pay for a babysitter!

Ugh. This heat is making me grouchy. Anything make you want to shake another MNer?

The use of veggies to describe vegetables or vegetarians, is twee and infantile in equal measure and should be outlawed forthwith.

I've been thinking that for years!

Another one is people who say "No. is a complete sentence." It bloody isn't! At the very least a sentence needs a subject and a predicate and the word "no" is neither.

FrogsAreMean · 31/07/2019 16:58

I haven't read the whole thread so please excuse me if this is a duplicate.
I HATE it when someone is telling the story/writing the post and they write....."I have a friend with green hair....let's call him Kermit" It's the "let's call him...." that drives me nuts.

I don't know why....it just does.

feelingverylazytoday · 31/07/2019 17:14

People that think they know everything about everything.
People that try and tell me that my life experience of being poor, a single parent, and from a working class background is wrong.
People who advise other posters to 'just throw it in the bin' when they are sent letters home about their children being overweight. If you want to ignore well researched and established medical advice about yourself feel free to do so, however do not try and influence other people, especially when it concerns children.

NoSauce · 31/07/2019 17:26

The arse licking over anyfucker.

It’s embarrassing. She’s great and I like her but don’t need to mention her at any given opportunity.

Finfintytint · 31/07/2019 17:40

NoSauce, you just did Smile

NoSauce · 31/07/2019 17:46

Give over. You get my point though?
I find it strange 🤷‍♀️

RedSheep73 · 31/07/2019 17:52

The 'Shall we choose Eton or Harrow' ones make my blood boil. If you have so much money you can even ask that question then you've a bloody cheek asking for help! and especially rubbing normal people's noses in it.

DoingItForTheKids · 31/07/2019 17:58

Those that just say 'leave him' because it's that bloody easy....

NeverGotMyPuppy · 31/07/2019 18:04

Oh god where to start...

The arse licking over certain posters - though that does seem to have reduced over the years

The absolute imbalance if a man posts. The advice is ridiculously different to when women post with identical issues.

The 'can I eat this chicken which goes off today'- no wonder we throw so much away.

The many, many posters who are just deliberately obtuse and unpleasant. Its really tiresome.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 31/07/2019 18:05

@RedSheep73 I'm not trying to start a fight but surely everyone has a right to post about making decisions about their child's education? You can't place a wealth limit to post on MN.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 31/07/2019 19:21

Posts that consist solely of the Hmm face. It’s wanky enough at the best of times, but when it’s literally all someone posts, they should be hit in the face with a pan.

NoSauce · 31/07/2019 19:25

Hmm is meant to be hmm though, so sometimes when poster on its own it’s actually fitting.

NoSauce · 31/07/2019 19:25

Posted not poster

Thank God,it was dire for yearsHmm totally appropriate use

StillCoughingandLaughing · 31/07/2019 19:41

It’s just troll hunting for people who don’t want to admit that’s what they’re doing.

It some cases it could be and in others it’s justifiable because the post in question is batshit.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 31/07/2019 20:03

Then why not SAY that?

LoafofSellotape · 31/07/2019 20:04

Why have emojis at all in that case?

StillCoughingandLaughing · 31/07/2019 20:12

Oh bloody hell; I wish I hadn’t spoken. No one else seems to be having their comments picked apart like this.

PortiaCastis · 31/07/2019 20:16

Those that say LTB even if you haven't any money then berate a single Mum for claiming benefits. I'm a single Mum btw

NoSauce · 31/07/2019 20:19

Jeez what’s wrong with people today. Is it a full moon or are people just ratty due to school holidays?!

ipswichwitch · 31/07/2019 20:20

The posters who simply can not grasp that even though something hasn’t happened to them, doesn’t mean it can never possibly happen. One thread in particular got my goat when the op was posting about her periods and the flooding she experienced. There were some supportive comments, then several who insinuated that because it has never happened to them, they didn’t believe the op and thought she was exaggerating. Ffs, we’re not all out there having identical life experiences. Just because it didn’t happen to you doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

Also, the “am I pregnant?” ones. How do I know? I wasn’t even there.

Wavyheaded · 31/07/2019 20:23

Rude replies when someone's just trying to help.
