How long does a bottle of white wine last you?

Opened a bottle at 7.15pm and I've just finished it at 9pm. Is that really bad?

In defence, I have eaten a big curry with rice in two sittings 50 mins apart at the same time.

So, half a glass whilst waiting for DH to bring take away. A full glass with meal. Another full glass over half an hour watching a film. Another full glass with take away left-overs. Finishing wine now with rest of film.

Forever! Don't drink wine. But a bottle of vodka! Now that's a different story 😂😂

mycatisblack · 21/07/2019 21:54

Months usually. I might have a small glass out of a bottle or offer a glass to a friend and then leave the rest in the fridge untouched for months. I sometimes use a bit in cooking.
My vice is snacking on a bag of crisps in the evening or similar. We all like different things.

thenightsky · 21/07/2019 21:54

In my defence, I don't have to get up for work in the morning (retired).

Seriously? You must have a very small circle of acquaintances
No, my friends drink socially/not to get drunk. It’s not really normal to regularly drink to excess past a certain age unless you have issues with alcohol.

dementedpixie · 21/07/2019 22:28

It doesn't make me drunk though

northernknickers · 21/07/2019 22:29

3-4 days...I'm a lightweight where wine is concerned unfortunately (my body just can't take it!). Give me a tub of Pringles, however, and I'm demonic in my devouring 😳😂😈

BikeRunSki · 21/07/2019 22:31

Several months, until I can offload it to a bottle stall or raffle prize.

Red wine has a much shorter life expectancy in my company, but my days if drinking a bottle in one evening are long gone.

justgivemewine · 21/07/2019 22:35

Not long enough 😂

Reindeerssmellbetter · 21/07/2019 22:36

I'm a lightweight so could never drink a while bottle, I would be ill. I rarely drink more than one glass a night. A bottle will last me about a week sometimes longer.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 21/07/2019 22:39

I'd have 1-2 small glasses on a Friday, another small on a Saturday and another small maybe a Tuesday?

I only pour about 100mls a time as I like it really cold.

HettyStThomas · 21/07/2019 22:39

About 1.5-2 hours

CatteStreet · 21/07/2019 22:39

min 3 days, max 10 days or so. I rarely open a bottle alone at home. Dh doesn't drink and I felt regular solitary drinking (there was a time when I was opening a bottle most weeks and generally finishing it over the course of a week) wasn't a great habit to be in, though I certainly wasn't drinking to excess. Sometimes I'll get one of those miniature bottles and have it over usually two nights, just so I don't open a big one and feel I have to finish it.

a whole bottle in an hour and a half? Shock I'd be incapable and no doubt have the most hideous hangover.

MrsMiggins37 · 21/07/2019 22:41

Too quickly. Wine is lethal!

Lllot5 · 21/07/2019 22:43

I couldn’t drink a whole bottle in one sitting.
Not much of a drinker really.

B1rdinthebush · 21/07/2019 23:01

I don't drink white but can drink a bottle of red in about two hours. I'm actively trying to cut down on my drinking as I'm concerned it's becoming a bit of a problem. Not so much an addiction but certainly a habit that I associate with winding down and relaxing. I really wanted a glass tonight but haven't so I'm going to try and not drink again until next weekend. God, that sounds depressing when I write it down...

thenightsky · 21/07/2019 23:10

Red would last me all week tbh. It give me a shocking headache.

confusedandemployed · 21/07/2019 23:12

About the same as you OP. Possibly (definitely) that's more alcohol than recommended, but I drink once or twice a week so sod it.

MrsJBaptiste · 21/07/2019 23:16

I came on here expecting to be tutted at for drinking a bottle of wine in an hour but I see the drinkers are out in force tonjght! 🍷

I'd usually open a bottle of white wine (can't drink red) at 7pm, finish it by 10pm then have a takeaway. I much rather drink first then have water with food later 🥗

NC4Now · 21/07/2019 23:17

About an hour and a half. I find wine especially moreish.

Tigger001 · 21/07/2019 23:20

Probably about 2.5 hrs, although I haven't had a drink since I was pregnant. Bloody hell DS is 2 soon, so nearly 3 years.
I would probably be wasted now then off one large glass 😂😂😂😂😂

Lindormilk · 22/07/2019 08:06

2 nights. Glass and a half each night and im feeling it. Prefer a couple of bottles of beer instead.

Itstheprinciple · 22/07/2019 08:13

2-3 hours. Wouldn't be drunk, would be merry and a bit more chatty than usual! A bottle of prosecco somehow disappeared in my presence on Saturday night in a rather surprisingly short time.

Red, though, lasts me longer. I do enjoy it but find it 'richer' somehow and it does make me drunk more quickly so half a bottle in one night is usually my limit.

ShatnersWig · 22/07/2019 08:14

I'm single so if I open a bottle of wine I have to drink it all by myself. It will last 5 days as I will have one glass a night.

I can count the number of times I've had more than one glass of wine at home on my own on the fingers of one hand.

If I go out, I would have more than one glass but there's no way I'd have finished off a bottle of wine on my own in under two hours. Never.

WhoKnewBeefStew · 22/07/2019 08:14

. If I'm out then a bottle in an evening is more than doable. At home I'll drink about 85% of a bottle and then tail off.

FenellaMaxwell · 22/07/2019 08:18

2-4 sittings, not usually on consecutive days. But I have a toddler who doesn’t reliably sleep through, so after 3 years of hardly drinking,
More than 2 glasses is too much for me.
