How long does a bottle of white wine last you?

Opened a bottle at 7.15pm and I've just finished it at 9pm. Is that really bad?

In defence, I have eaten a big curry with rice in two sittings 50 mins apart at the same time.

So, half a glass whilst waiting for DH to bring take away. A full glass with meal. Another full glass over half an hour watching a film. Another full glass with take away left-overs. Finishing wine now with rest of film.

Two nights usually.

FloatingthroughSpace · 21/07/2019 21:25

Now in my 40s I allow myself 2/3 of a bottle on each of Friday and Saturday night. I never drink a whole bottle as I get palpitations and beer fear if I drink any more. I rarely drink at all the rest of the week - God knows I don't need the calories.

PandaMa · 21/07/2019 21:25

2 hours, maybe 3 if I'm not really feeling it.

But it wouldn't get me drunk either. Having read other responses on here I think I may have a problem Blush Wine

3-4 nights , I don’t know anyone over the age of 24 that would drink a whole bottle to themselves in one go.

dementedpixie · 21/07/2019 21:27

You do now!

Jupiter13 · 21/07/2019 21:27

About an hour

PurpleDaisies · 21/07/2019 21:28

About a week, one glass every few days.

2 hours? Maybe a little longer - with spicy takeaway and a good box set or film on the TV.

I swear bottles are getting smaller these days 😬

Sexnotgender · 21/07/2019 21:30

2/3 nights. I never drink more than 1/2 a bottle in a night.

Whoops75 · 21/07/2019 21:30

Same as you

Northernsoullover · 21/07/2019 21:31

2 hours. I no longer drink for this very reason. Once I pop I can't stop Confused

Tiredtessy · 21/07/2019 21:33

An hour my way! Opened this bottle at 6ish and drank soooo slow and it’s all gone, could have another large at least and be fine tomorrow

BigGlasses · 21/07/2019 21:38

One (weekend) evening, but I feel rough the next morning.

I blame big wine glasses. If I use small tumblers I drink the same number of glasses but it’s only half a bottle!

Runbitchrun · 21/07/2019 21:39

2-3 nights for me.

Longdistance · 21/07/2019 21:40

Open a bottle at 6pm, is finished with dinner by 8pm. It tastes good, meh! Wine

Seriously? You must have a very small circle of acquaintances 🙄

NotYourHolidayDick · 21/07/2019 21:42

I open a bottle at 6 ish and it's gone by 9.

Every night 😢😢

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 21/07/2019 21:43

I drink a full bottle of white every Friday night, and sometimes all the time half a bottle of red on both Saturdays and Sundays.

I'm aware of units etc, and know that I'm well over the recommended safe limit for women, btw.
So there's no need for anyone to point that out to me Smile

Probably over 2-3 hours, and I often mix white with 7up.

Not drunk, just sooooo relaxed Smile

ETA I don't know anyone younger than 25 who drinks wine.
It's common in my circle amongst women 30-60s.

Hope you enjoyed your curry OP Smile

NotYourHolidayDick · 21/07/2019 21:43

But the instant caaaalllllm of that first glass Grin It's unbeatable.

Surfingtheweb · 21/07/2019 21:44

Less than an hour 😂 I used to end up pretty wasted so don't drink it now.

Ah don't be daft. Wine glasses tend to be pretty large, the ones people tend to have at home anyway. It's easily done.

MusicalFuckYouParty · 21/07/2019 21:46

When I was still in active alcoholism, it was fairly normal for me to kill a whole bottle in 20-30 minutes... before cracking open the next one.

beela · 21/07/2019 21:47

@notacooldad same here! I've just chucked a third of a bottle that had been hiding at the back of the fridge for weeks.

If I had more than half a bottle in one evening I would be totally wrecked, but I'm a lightweight these days.

jackstini · 21/07/2019 21:50

2-3 hours depending on what I'm eating and where I am

Am shocked at people that don't know anyone who can drink a bottle to themselves. That's very normal (although not great I admit) among most of my friends

3 of us last night had 3 G&Ts, 12 cocktails and 2.5 bottles of wine in around 4 hours - we're all in our 40's...
