We were talking about careers advice at work today and I remembered jiig-cal. It must’ve been the early 90s when I used it at school.

My jig-call results suggested I should be a window dresser or an archaeologist. Sadly I am neither 😂

Yes, I used it in the early 90's. it said I should be an interpreter.
I'm now a careers adviser 😂

I remember this. I have a feeling mine said social worker or teacher. I am neither

macaronip1e · 19/07/2019 19:31

Prison officer or music therapist here! I work in the pharmaceutical industry...

tunnocksreturns2019 · 19/07/2019 19:34

I was surprised at the 70% accuracy claim 😂

I did love filling it in and getting the results.

I also had a whole 5 minute session with a careers adviser. She suggested I study archaeology at Aberystwyth. I think because she was in a hurry she didn’t get past ‘a’

I love the range. You’d expect different qualities required for officer vs music therapist

I didn't know the name of it but yes- mine was Speech and Language Therapist- nuh huh.

I do remember someone claiming they had gravedigger Grin

tunnocksreturns2019 · 19/07/2019 19:36

everyone gets "nurse" as I recall.....

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 19/07/2019 19:43

I had secretary or translator.

jigsawpiece · 19/07/2019 20:03

I remember it. I seem to remember everyone had Librarian in their list no matter what they put!

tunnocksreturns2019 · 19/07/2019 20:08

😂 I wish I still had my print-out!

Elllicam · 19/07/2019 20:12

I vaguely remember getting nurse as an option. I am actually now a nurse.

Shenanagins · 19/07/2019 20:46

Mine had something like an ambassador or a tax accountant! I’m neither!

MyHeadIsBursting · 19/07/2019 20:48

I had librarian! 😂

tunnocksreturns2019 · 19/07/2019 21:15

Ooh someone who got nurse who actually became a nurse!

Librarian does seem to be a popular one also.

Ambassador isn’t really a first job thing, is it? Something to work towards I suppose. After being a nurse and a librarian 😂

sleepyhead · 19/07/2019 21:20

Mine said I should be an archivist or an actuary.

Not sure how it got actuary, but I'm now a librarian so archivist was close.

onemorecakeplease · 19/07/2019 21:22

Oh yes I remember. Mine was diplomat or teacher....! I'd forgotten all about that!

I'm nearly qualified as a teacher after working in banking for a decade and having my own business. Never did get that job as a diplomat!

So sort of accurate!

tunnocksreturns2019 · 19/07/2019 21:26

Ooh yes, both of those are pretty good.

I really think I’m ready to be an ambassador or diplomat now I’m 40.

I'm sure I still have my printout! Everyone had careers advisor on their list. I head completely forgotten about the procedure but remember it well now!

Xenadog · 19/07/2019 21:30

Not in Scotland but I also did this in about 1987. I’m a teacher but according to Jiig Cal I should have made prosthetic limbs or been a prison warder.

ToEarlyForDecorations · 19/07/2019 21:32

I can't remember much of it. I don't mention it because no one knows what I'm talking about. I left school in England in 1983.

JudgeRindersMinder · 19/07/2019 21:32

I left school in 87 but we never got careers advice at school at all-the “careers service” was a locked filing cabinet in one of the maths teacher’s rooms 😂
