I’ve just had my favourite for lunch. A nice soft white bread roll with Red Leicester cheese, coleslaw and crinkle cut ready salted crisps. It’s my very favourite.

Glesga roll with proper butter, chicken mayo and sweetcorn, lettuce and white onions 😋

If you haven't had a glesga (Glasgow) roll before you don't know what you are missing.

Mitebiteatnite · 16/07/2019 21:13

On a lazy day, grated cheese on soft white bread with a lot of butter. Washed down with a glass of milk!

On a posho day, a wrap spread with a dollop of creme fraiche, a few slices of parma ham, mashed avocado and thinly sliced tomato. Its actual heaven.

Shop bought will always, always be prawn mayo. Preferably waitrose or m&s

Bread and fries onions Blush

BLT on granary bread
Prawn Marie Rose (not mayo) and crisp iceberg lettuce on granary bread.
Egg and salad cream mashed together (not mayo) on white bread.
Or a simple ham, lettuce and salad cream with a twist of black pepper on white bread. Even tastier with crisps in too.

I love a good Christmas dinner left overs sandwich

So agree, With a bowl of gravy to dip it in!

Shop bought, M&S Christmas sandwich. Best lazy, just me to feed is a fish finger sandwich.

isitwhatitis · 16/07/2019 21:52

I am so hungry now...all these posh choices but i just fancy ordinary sliced bread, butter, chips, sea salt and black pepper with lashings of vinegar.

5 minutes to get out of my pjs, tell the DCs I'm going out and get to the chippy before it closes Sad

TroubleWithNargles · 16/07/2019 21:53

Danish salami, rocket and salad cream in a french stick.

Egg and tomato with salt and pepper on wholemeal bread (but it has to be just-made or the bread goes soggy)

Cheese and onion & crusty new white bread, with some salad on the side

Waitrose seafood cocktail sandwiches - there's a branch near where I work and I have one every Wednesday Smile

And you can't beat a turkey sandwich on Boxing day evening!

TroysMammy · 16/07/2019 21:54

Hummus, cucumber, cheese and lettuce.
Egg mayo and thin ham.

Steaktartar · 16/07/2019 21:58

Toasted cheese (Asiago) and prosciutto cotto (cooked ham). Yum :)

DoctorTwo · 17/07/2019 01:23

Grilled cheese and mushroom on toasted white bread (preferably the crusts) with brown sauce. It's been 20 years since I had one from this little caff in Brownhills and the memory of the taste still makes me drool.

lavenderbluedilly · 17/07/2019 03:58

Grated cheddar (preferably the Irish stuff which is orange), wee bit of grated onion and all mixed with mayonnaise. On seeded or granary style bread

Groovee · 17/07/2019 04:36

It depends on what I'm in the mood for.

Wholemeal with tuna (no mayo) tomato and cucumber and a bit red onion.

BLT on toasted bread, just a touch of mayo.

Cheese savoury (orange cheese, red onion and good quality mayo)

Gingerkittykat · 17/07/2019 04:49

So many to choose from.

Soft white bread with fish fingers (battered only), heinz sandwich spread, rocket, tomato, spring onion and cheese.

Steak, mushrooms, onions, tomato, leafs and cheese.

An odd cheese mix which is grated mature cheddar mushed together with soft cheese with chopped gherkins through it. Don't knock it till you try it.

Typical daily sandwich will be much more boring egg, tuna or cold meat with salad.

Shop bought I've got a dangerous addiction to Tesco sausage, bacon and egg triple. I get it in the meal deal with coconut water and pomegranate seeds and feel like I've beaten the system by saving over £3.

I also love M and S Wensleydale and carrot chutney but am rarely near a shop to buy it.

@BrokenWing Is a Glesga roll a morning roll? Best served with a generous slab of butter and some crisps. Grin

isitwhatitis · 17/07/2019 07:05

Thick slices of the marmalade ham from Waitrose with whole grain mustard.

proseccoandbooks · 17/07/2019 07:19

I'm so following this. So many ideas here

onlyhereforthefood · 17/07/2019 07:22

If we're going for a hot sandwich-

Garlicky mushrooms and cream cheese on seeded thick cut bread.

joystir59 · 17/07/2019 07:28

Hummus and tomato on brown bread

Happynow001 · 17/07/2019 07:47

Ciabatta roll with a little unsalted butter, plus a scrambled egg and two slices of unsmoked back bacon with the fat cut off. Or unsmoked streaky bacon cooked crisp.

SunsetBunny · 17/07/2019 08:00

@JuneFromBethesda

I really need to know whether you intended to put currants with your tuna sandwich. It’s the first thing I thought about when I woke up today 🤣

In the absence of currants, will raisins or sultanas do?

ShatnersWig · 17/07/2019 08:01

Corned beef on white bread, butter, no pickle or salad.

JuneFromBethesda · 17/07/2019 09:44

😄 @SunsetBunny Yes, The currants were intentional and in fact I had a tuna mayo currant sandwich yesterday, it was delicious! It sounds odd I know but it’s really good.

Not sure about raisins or sultanas - a bit too big I think ... 😜

Grimbles · 17/07/2019 09:51

Thinly sliced lamb with a garlic and herb aioli with salad wrapped in a toasted flatbread.

Ok. It's a lamb doner.

stucknoue · 17/07/2019 10:07

Beef, horseradish and salad

ohcanada · 17/07/2019 10:14

I rarely eat sandwiches but if I have to nip to a tesco express I always go for a cheapo egg mayo or prawn mayo! Can't beat a simple classic
