Would you recognise someone you shagged a decade ago?

I was seeing someone very casually for a few months about a decade ago. We probably saw shagged each other a dozen or so times.

I was at an event today with my friend and this man was there signing some stuff as he’s written a book. I thought it would be amusing to buy his book and ask him to address it to the pet name he used to call me. Not a sex name or anything, he misheard my name when we first met, thought I was called Umbobo when I actually have a very boring English name.

I queue up, he says hello, I ask him to address it to Umbobo, he asks how to spell it, I spell it, he tells me to have a lovely day and off I go. There was absolutely no recognition at all! My friend thought it was fucking hilarious and I sort of laughed it off but am a little bit gutted.

He was the only really casual relationship I’ve ever had and I do did remember it fondly. I guess if you’ve been shagging a different person every couple of months for the last decade though you can’t be expected to remember them all. I like to think I was one of the memorable ones though. Or at least the nickname would have jogged his memory. Pfft.

Yes!! Report back! And now you can read the book 😂

I wouldn't. He remembered you but ignored you then slid into your DMs, the rude entitled prat.

I did Blush

He served me a drink in a bar. He instantly recognised me, but even when he told me his name I couldn't place him. He then told me where we met and it clicked. But if he'd not said I'd have been non the wiser.

I've slept with a lot of people though.

*Troglod

He’ll sit bolt upright in the night and say ‘Umbobo’.*

That's the first time I've ever made an audible guffaw at a mumsnet post Grin.

OP I hope it all goes well for you!

spurious my name is absolutely nothing like Umbobo, you’d never guess it. It was basically a conversation that went

‘hi, I’m Hannah’
‘Wow cool name, I’ve never met anyone called Umbobo before’
Confused’neither have I’

I’m not called Hannah btw, but something equally as unUmbobo-ish.
