So I’m slowly rebuilding myself after (finally) getting the courage to leave and weirdly yesterday I found that playing certain songs really helped me feel less awful and more determined to ignore his messages. I’ve got
Christina - Fighter
Katy Perry - Roar
F* you - Lilly Allen
Bulletproof - La Roux
Enough cryin’ - Mary J Blige

What else do I need to get me through?

My freedom song is It's My Life by Bon Jovi. It was playing in the car as I travelled to my new life having made a snap decision to leave my abusive ex. The words fit. Really hope you are getting on OK OP.

Miley Cyrus We can't Stop - this song was in the charts at the time and the lyrics still mean a lot to me

Doing whatever we want
This is our house
This is our rules
Can't you see it's we who own the night?
Can't you see it's we who 'bout that life?
And we can't stop
And we won't stop
We run things, things don't run we
Don't take nothing from nobody, yeah, yeah

It's our party, we can do what we want
It's our party, we can say what we want

Proud by Heather Small. Amazing song by an amazing singer and the lyrics couldn't be more fitting:

I look into the window of my mind
Reflections of the fears I know I've left behind
I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me now
And you can do the same
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It's never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
Still so many answers I don't know
Realize that to question is how we grow
So I step out of the ordinary
I can feel my soul ascending
I am on my way
Can't stop me now
And you can do the same
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
It's never too late to try
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
You could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
We need a change
Do it today
I can feel my spirit rising
We need a change
So do it today
Cause I can see a clear horizon
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?
Cause you could be so many people
If you make that break for freedom
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?
What have you done today to make you feel proud?
What have you done today
You could be so many people?
Just make that break for freedom
So what have you done today to make you feel proud?

Beyoncé - The Best Thing I Never Had

Taylor Swift - Mean

Nicole Scherzinger - Don’t Hold Your Breath

I had them on my leaving playlist when I left a hideous man, I used to play them driving in the car to work in the early days. Good luck!
