Need a playlist for leaving abusive husband - add tracks here!

So I’m slowly rebuilding myself after (finally) getting the courage to leave and weirdly yesterday I found that playing certain songs really helped me feel less awful and more determined to ignore his messages. I’ve got
Christina - Fighter
Katy Perry - Roar
F* you - Lilly Allen
Bulletproof - La Roux
Enough cryin’ - Mary J Blige

What else do I need to get me through?

The one that really worked for me was Karma Killer by Robbie Williams - the sentiments suited my situation perfectly

31RueCambon · 08/07/2019 16:48

The lyrics are amazing. Gave me shivers when I heard them first before I left my abusive x

Fairylea · 08/07/2019 16:49

Gives you Hell and Move Along - both by All American Rejects

To the left - Beyoncé

Oh sorry I meant irreplaceable! Not to the left that’s the lyric!

littleme96 · 08/07/2019 16:50

Stronger - Kelly Clarkson

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 08/07/2019 16:51

Some oldies:

“I had a little time” by The Beautiful South (sticking two fingers up to him)
“Death on two legs” by Queen (to remind you how much you loathe him. Try this after “I hate you so much right now”!)
“Don’t Stop” Fleetwood Mac (for cheesy dancing when you see glimmers of joy at being free from him)

Well done OP. Here’s to your magnificent future.

Beauty from the pain- Superchick

31RueCambon · 08/07/2019 16:52

I also really liked Shakira's song about her child being the thing that was right (in a messy marriage - although not abusive I don't think). Helped me forgive myself for having made a fucking awful choice (of man) but had a beautiful child

Theworldcouldbemymollusc · 08/07/2019 16:55

Oh yes!!! Love these - this is a banging playlist - just remembered Beyoncé - run the world!

31RueCambon · 08/07/2019 16:55

''and if I mess up everything for me, I won't hang my head in shame, cos you are the one thing I got right]] about her child.

Good luck OP. The most challenging time of my life. NOTHING will ever seem so hard as starting again after an abusive marriage. it all gets better.

I would like to do a list of books I read after I left my abusive husband!

DustyMaiden · 08/07/2019 16:57

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 08/07/2019 17:01

Dog Days - Florence and the machine.

You can't help but belt it out and feel like a strong woman!

KatherineJaneway · 08/07/2019 17:05

Hush hush - Pussycat Dolls. Updated version of Gloria Gaynor but superb vocals by Nicole

Fighter - Christina Aguilera

Smile - Lily Allen

2stepsonthewater · 08/07/2019 17:08

Titanium by David Guetta feat Sia
I'm bulletproof nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down but I won't fall, I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium, I am titanium, I am titanium, I am titanium

Forgot Dolly Parton - Divorce.

OP posts:
JWrecks · 08/07/2019 17:10

These two got me back to the good times:

Ben Folds - Landed
m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=0vPygzPSg8M
"and you will be so
happy to know
ive come alone
its over"

Pearl Jam - Rearviewmirror
m.youtube.com/watch?v=nLsnJAj5cms
"wounds in the mirror waved
it wasnt my surface most defiled
[...]
once and for all i'm far away
can hardly believe, finally the shades are raised"

Blow me(one last kiss) by Pink

BobbinThreadbare123 · 08/07/2019 17:15

I Fucking Hate You g.co/kgs/wft9c5

The delightful Godsmack with a song called 'I fucking hate you'. Helped me with visualisation during a divorce for sure!

Onynx · 08/07/2019 17:21

My friend liked 'You're not the Boss of me Now'. Bouncy song but I think it was repeating those words like a mantra.

Dancer12345 · 08/07/2019 17:31

Pink’s So What came out around the time I got divorced - perfect! Especially the line “and you’re a tool”!!!
