What do you think of Economy passengers using Business class toilets?

on an aeroplane?

Is it ever OK? What if the aisle to the econ toilets are blocked but clear to the business class toilets?

@PrawnoftheShed that's true but 10 men pissing on the floor is preferable to 100.

Crew also clean the business class toilets on long haul. I'm pretty sure they don't in economy.

StressToy · 04/07/2019 22:19

Definitely not. I feel so strongly about it that I’m going to start a revolution. See you on the barricades.

Or, you know, not.

Harveywallplanner · 04/07/2019 22:27

To be honest I wouldn’t really notice who’s using the toilets,I’m too busy sleeping in my lie flat bed or sitting in the on board bar than to have the toilets under surveillance

The only thing different on virgin is the hand wash

Otherwise exactly the same bog

You’re really not missing anything

forkfun · 04/07/2019 22:32

Couldn't give a shit.

SoupDragon · 04/07/2019 22:33

I fly business and really couldn't give a stuff as long as it's not vast numbers of people. I might be irritated if there was a long queue. I've never considered that I'm paying extra for the toilets TBH.

I think you'd get pulled up by the crew though.

NannyRed · 04/07/2019 22:38

That’s like going into a pub just to use the toilets, it’s wrong.

VenusClapTrap · 04/07/2019 23:17

Nope, it’s naughty. It’s not because the loos are nicer, but because one of the reasons people pay for business class is for peace and quiet - they don’t want hordes of people tramping up and down the aisle.

drsausage · 05/07/2019 04:15

I used a toilet at the front of the plane today. The aisle to the back was blocked and going to stay that way for the foreseeable future. The crew didn't bat an eyelid.

Knitclubchatter · 05/07/2019 04:42

Parent and child emergency or such possibly if approved by staff. That lower ratio is one of the reasons the seats cost more (along with better seats, more leg room, more food options, free drinks).

AnnaDine · 05/07/2019 04:56

Oh I used the first class toilets all through the a 16 hour flight - no issues

Longdistance · 05/07/2019 05:17

‘Fuck off back to economy you peasants!’ Sorry, I’m ex crew 😂

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 05/07/2019 05:22

I only want rich people's pee to have graced the toilet I use.

Who knows what is in poor people's pee, rabies and tenants special probably.

Stopyourhavering64 · 05/07/2019 05:24

Not usually a problem on Emirates A380s as the economy passengers are downstairs ( on 3 class cabin layout) and generally, crew won't allow it..
However, have been in premium economy cabin in Virgin 747 when economy passengers used the same loos, but we were upstairs 'in the bubble'

ImpracticalCape · 05/07/2019 05:33

I'd be annoyed if I was flying business and had to wait and it was an economy passenger.

Part of the huge fare is less bog to bum ratio!

Usually the business class lav is behind a curtain at the very least so if in economy you'd have to specifically push through a barrier to get to it. Cabin crew usually quick to spot.

If I'm in business then I'm upstairs on an A380 and first is in front. I've seen business class passengers get turned away from the first class lav with some very strong words!

MardAsSnails · 05/07/2019 05:41

Not reasonable.

Paying significantly more for business means you shouldn’t have queues of people in the aisles next to you waiting for the toilet when you’re trying to sleep.

It means less waiting time for the toilet (very important for me - my stomach goes horrendous whenever I fly)

And often the toilets are bigger and nicer with better toiletries (deodorant, hand cream, face wipes etc) - passengers who have not paid for it should not be entitled to use it.

Myfoolishboatisleaning · 05/07/2019 05:42

I was in premium economy and used the business toilets and then went straight to the galley to ask for a drink. He saw me coming out of the business toilets so gave me the “good” wine, we laughed when he discovered I was in economy because it’s all bollocks isn’t it? Likewise, when I was in business and some young girl came up to have a “go in the bigger seats” no one actually gave a flying fuck.

SucculentCandle · 05/07/2019 05:44

I'd also occasionally go to the dividing curtain and make faces at the cattle class. Grin

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 05/07/2019 05:45

"it’s all bollocks isn’t it?"

Fucking exactly.

I paid more so fa la la and it's not fair and blah blah blah.

Cry me a river. I can't believe anyone gives headspace to this kind of nonsense.

timeforawine · 05/07/2019 06:01

To any ex crew, can economy use the 1st/business toilet if you have a toddler desperate to go but all economy toilets are in use? Flying in a couple of months and this is a worry I have that she might end up wetting herself if she has to wait too long

orangeshoebox · 05/07/2019 06:03

if you can't get to an economy toilet due to a blocked aisle, of course you should use the next toilet you can easily get to. if that's business so be it.

ImpracticalCape · 05/07/2019 06:03

@timeforawine depends on the plane. Where you flying?

timeforawine · 05/07/2019 06:06

Manchester to Sicily with Tui, so think its the premiere cabin up front?

ImpracticalCape · 05/07/2019 06:06

@timeforawine what I mean is that if you are on an a380 all premium cabins are upstairs. You will definitely not be allowed up there. Nevertheless there are around 10 loos in economy so there shouldn't be a big wait for any and most will allow you in front with a busting toddler.

If a smaller short haul plane or a 777 then there's usually a curtain and some begging may help but first port of call should be a plea to the queue if there is one.

Small domestic hops... there's no delineation anyway.
