Here are mine,
I cant stand Eastenders

@YumyumAndyum junk food is a hell of a lot cheaper than fresh. That is a valid excuse imo. With so many people in poverty and using food banks some people don't have much choice.

Oh I agree with this one. And after drinking it some people have really bad breath.

Alcohol should stay in its lane, it belongs in drinks and should stop infiltrating food, desert and chocolate.

And for some people, take away food is actually cheaper than cooking. A kebab wrap and chips with garlic sauce is £3 at our local take away and is big enough to feed two when cut in half whereas cooking a meal will involve buying ingredients which can be expensive in itself if your only option within reasonable distance is the corner shop, the cost of the gas/electricity for cooking it especially if someone is on a key meter that costs more and needs topping up, then the cost of the hot water for washing up after.

That 99% of the angst & turmoil on MN could be avoided if people only had (shock horror) an adult, respectful, open discussion with the other party.
(Clearly not talking about cases of abusive behaviour etc)

People who don’t share my/someone else’s opinion, and so think that it is invalid, and that theirs is the only opinion that counts.

Now you could say that we all think that, and perhaps we do, inside our heads . But when people think they are entitled to ram their opinion down the throat of others by using shouting or superiority or sneering or snide remarks or bullying, that’s when theirs becomes an unpopular opinion with me. Otherwise variety is the spice of life.

Although, bacon sandwiches are not good, (some) red wine is nice when chilled, and ketchup has no place on any sort of food.

Saw an article this morning about obesity being a greater cause of cancer than smoking and people are saying that pointing that out is fat shaming. No it isn’t if you’re obese it’s generally because you eat too much or the wrong kinds of foods. Obesity for medical reasons is practically non existent, and if you’re happy being obese then fine, but don’t expect to not be told the risks because they are there and they’re real.

Friends is an absolute shit stain of a sitcom. Those who watch it endlessly for fun whenever it is on have zero appreciation for good television. Those who quote it like it's some kind of bible for living are the worst.

I agree with "you are not an animal lover unless you are vegan".
Also: kids below at least 12 should never be on iPads or phones.
Young children should not be allowed to drink juice unless it's a special occasion.
Camping in the uk is awful and not a holiday. Holidays should be more relaxing and luxurious than your real life, not less.
Home made pizza is always nicer than shop bought or take away.

I agree that that campaign is not ‘fat shaming’ per se, @NoCauseRebel - but I don’t think fat shaming works. Making me feel ashamed (or, in reality, more ashamed than I already make myself) about my weight is only going to contribute to my self-loathing and low self esteem - and the more I hate myself, the less likely I am to want to care for myself in any way.

Comments like "eat less, move more" and "you're overweight because you eat the wrong foods and too much of them" ignore the often complex mental and emotional issues around obesity.

Time outs are pointless and your child spends them stewing about how unfair everything is and planning not to get caught in the future. Yes they calm down but they would if you did anything else with them for a few mins.

Saying you couldn't be vegetarian/ vegan because you love bacon too much is unoriginal and annoying. Own it, you just don't want to and that's up to you.

High heels are not empowering they make you less steady on your feet and slower.

Having dogs is not the same as having children.

I would quite like a hot tub.

Prosecco and champagne are both hugely overrated. Cola is useless rubbish. Spicy food is awful.

I agree about Friends. Absolute drivel. My husband is American and no one in his family rates it wither, thank goodness!

Same goes for that dreadful Modern family and that unfunny The Big Bang theory - all utterly contrived and crap.

That epidemic levels of loneliness will sink the NHS before obesity.
