Recently bought a MacAir which is a thing of beauty and wonder. Am also gradually replacing cheap crockery with lovely Denby stuff.

I now buy good quality bras instead of M&S and more 'high end' makeup.

So I'm not talking houses, cars, horses etc. What have you bought/upgraded that you love so much more than the cheaper version and has been good value?

My fabulous cleaner, who would nominate - the Miele Animal vacuum cleaner
L'occitane. All of it. Blush
Gorgeous super soft dressing gown ( forgotten make, but it was £££ and comes with its own linen bag)
Circulon pans
Osprey backpack
Bose cordless headphones. Block most noise and superb sound quality
Roberts radio and alarm clock
Top quality high thread count cotton bed linen ( check out Bedeck for bargains)

Kitchen and dining room extension; just love the room; a cleaner who comes weekly.
But honestly; my dogs! I'd give everything else up for the joy my 3 give me (and they're probably the most expensive over the years!)

Halfeti perfume by Penhaligons.. nearly £200 for a bottle but every time I wear it I get a compliment..that never happened before. Worth every penny.

Definitely my Roomba!

Prescription varifocal sunglasses. New realms of happiness from those.
Cordless dyson.
Business class flights to Australia.

managedmis · 30/06/2019 17:31

Spanx
Redken shampoo
North Face coat

A lot of us seem to love our bean to cup machines. I've got a De'longhi too, my first one was bought half price on Ebay and lasted 6 years, I've just bought a new one which was cheaper but seems to do the job just as well. Had a few Nespresso machines before that but found that they didn't last.

My iPad Pro, specifically the Apple Pencil. I love it. Every time I pick it up I feel so happy. It lets me art without having to deal with getting supplies out and putting them away out of the reach of little fingers. It’s a total indulgence and I use it every single day and it never fails to cheer me up.

Which is ridiculous. But I couldn’t create things that make me happy...like this...without it.

  1. Lumea - my legs are smooth and hair free for 5 weeks at a time.

  2. £1.5k on a metal train track brace to straighten my top teeth. I love my smile now and laugh much more than I used to. Worth every penny.

Saralyn · 30/06/2019 17:36

My Womanizer vibrator. Trust me, it's worth the money. On a whole other level to vibrators I've tried before.

And Phillip's Lumea

Rizzoli123 · 30/06/2019 17:39

My cross stitch collection must be worth high hundreds but brings so much joy

beingmum39 · 30/06/2019 17:41

My car, it's second hand but I no longer have panic attacks about the length of time will it will take me to put my little on in the car and out the car when originally had 3 door!!

Anything from the body shop is a luxury item to me ....

All my maternity wear, I was proud of being pregnant but only needed maternity wear in last month or so but those dungarees now hide a sugar belly wonderfully. Shock

A Weber kettle bbq. Not that much more expensive than a big standard BBQ but it has lasted 12 years so far and still looks new.
Bean to cup coffee machine.
Some furniture we had made for our small living room so that it would fit just-so in the corners.

BlueJava · 30/06/2019 17:43

Bought Loaf.com sofas for our living room - amazing, we love them, they also look awesome too! So comfortable and can use one as a bed (although it's not meant for that really).

teyem · 30/06/2019 17:43

Big standard - bog standard

deluminator · 30/06/2019 17:43

Several years ago during a heatwave when my first baby was tiny, I went a bit nuts at 2am and bought a £400 air conditioner.

At the time I worried I would regret it. But it's been worth every penny. It's a godsend during very hot weather. We live in a converted bungalow and the bedrooms are in the old roof space, so can get very hot

OralBElectricToothbrush · 30/06/2019 17:44

My AeroPress. Now I'm assured of a strong, brilliant cup of coffee wherever I am in the world!

Le Mystere bras, particularly the Lace Trisha one. Worth every penny.

KitschBitch · 30/06/2019 17:49

Simplehuman magnifying mirror with light - it shows every line and blemish easily and make-up application faster and better. Love it. Also Dyson cordless - perfect if you are unable to lift heavy original Dyson, so light and super-sucky. Last one is Fevertree tonic water, tastes so much nicer than all the cheaper stuff.

MissConductUS · 30/06/2019 17:50

A Weber kettle bbq.

We have a Webber kettle too. It's about 20 years old and still looks and cooks perfectly. DH taught DS how to grill on it and it's a lovely activity for them to share.

They're made in Illinois, so a bit surprised but pleased you can buy them in the UK.

3dogs2cats · 30/06/2019 17:54

Copper garden tools.

Teacher22 · 30/06/2019 17:54

I had a 40 year old vegetable knife which fell to bits and I was heartbroken as it sliced through steel like butter virtually.

I sent it to a Sheffield cutler to have it rehandled in mahogany and they sharpened and polished the blade too. It cost me nearly £60 when I could have bought a veg knife for £2 from Tesco’s. I love it more every time I use it and hide it from my family so no one accidentally puts it in the dishwasher and dulls the lovely wood.

Italianmoma1983 · 30/06/2019 17:55

My thermomix ! Lovely piece of kit !

Bearseatbeets · 30/06/2019 17:58

A laser hair removal machine. £200 but this summer I’ve been able to have my legs out without having to shave every day and without the horrible ingrown hairs I got from epilating or waxing. It’s not a magic bullet but it’s made a big difference

Youwantshoesinashoeshop · 30/06/2019 17:58

My various instruments. High upfront cost but hours and hours and hours of pleasure (for me if not for neighbours).

My woodburner. I know, the environment, but I love it so.

teyem · 30/06/2019 17:58

Good to know it might have another decade in it Miss Grin
