What have you splurged on that has been worth every penny?

Recently bought a MacAir which is a thing of beauty and wonder. Am also gradually replacing cheap crockery with lovely Denby stuff.

I now buy good quality bras instead of M&S and more 'high end' makeup.

So I'm not talking houses, cars, horses etc. What have you bought/upgraded that you love so much more than the cheaper version and has been good value?

Agree antique furniture...a few dings only add to it's charm and you don't have to worry about damaging it!

Starisnotanumber · 29/06/2019 22:16

My garden there were 2 houses for sale in the same row I paid 5k more for the end house with the big and mostly private garden. I can sit outside most of the day it's wonderful. I always wanted a tree when I was a kid cos we lived in a 2 up 2 down and there was no greenery at all.

My Bialetti coffee peculator... a 50th birthday present...had it a few years now 😉

CherryPavlova · 29/06/2019 22:22

Shepherds hut.
Aga.
Antique furniture.
White company bedding.
A couple of good pieces of jewellery rather than lots of cheaper items.
Business class flights if travelling outside Europe.

jalopy · 29/06/2019 22:22

Philips Lumea.

I had my front four teeth veneered. Cost me 2.5k which is a hell of a lot of money for me. I did shit loads of overtime and have had them in for two years now. Worth every single penny!!

krustykittens · 29/06/2019 22:31

A pony! He eats money and all my spare time but I love him. Spend all day with him, enjoy the countryside with him, got to know a lot of new people because of him. Wouldn't be without him, even in the depths of winter.

thecompanyplonker · 29/06/2019 22:41

Two Elvie pumps- they're a total game changer for feeding DC who is a crap breastfeeder and generally won't accept the breast. Hours of my life spent pumping have been reclaimed!

lilpumpsmum · 29/06/2019 22:42

My Jura bean to cup coffee machine. Expensive but SO good.

Champagne. I always have bottles in if I fancy a midweek tipple. I'll be on the sofa in my primary pjs eating 10p crisps sipping good champagne. My reasoning is it's apparently low calorie - right?!

Botox!!! I love that my face genuinely looks ten years younger.

Tempur mattress = life changing.

Shark Klik 'n' Flip steam mop - I had no idea how filthy my floors were until I invested in one of these.

MrsFriskers · 29/06/2019 22:43

My cat. Saw her on CPL website. Announced this was my cat to all. Then bulldozered husband into having a cat. Very large donation later and the kitty was mine, and she has been family for 7 years. Cat is daddy’s little princess.

Benjispruce · 29/06/2019 22:45

living how much does the botox cost and how often? I have '11s' that I'd love to soften.

Queenoftheashes · 29/06/2019 22:45

I got a sage bakery boss (stand mixer) instead of replacing my hand mixer. Baking is so easy now and comes out great.

Guest8989 · 29/06/2019 22:58

My MacBook too. It’s old(2011 I think) but still just as relevant and speedy today.

PickAChew · 29/06/2019 23:02

I'd say my Denby juice but I got it as a series of presents, about 20 odd years ago, so didn't splurge.

My ruark audio R4 stereo. Love it to bits. Power pack got fried, last year, though (autistic ds became obsessed with unplugging it and plugging it in again) and it was a £100 fix. I now keep the power cable hidden.

PickAChew · 29/06/2019 23:06

Joseph joseph bin, too. The one with a top half and a bottom drawer. It actually looks nice in the kitchen and is properly functional, too.

Chillijamntuna · 29/06/2019 23:20

I paid £150 for a check up with a private dentist.
Completely put my mind at rest, taught me how to look after my teeth and gave me loads of time.
Worth every penny.

MondeoFan · 29/06/2019 23:24

Saltwater sandals
Kitchen Aid kettle
Bramwell & Brown Clock
Decent tea towels
Sonos Play

WhyDoesItAlways · 29/06/2019 23:27

Robo vacuum
Cordless vacuum
Airport lounges
Philips lumea
Glass roof in my car (ordered as part of a package with roof bars, only wanted the bars not the glass roof but love the glass and have never used the roof bars)
Tefal cook for me

Next on my list is a robo lawnmower. Any recommendations from PP who have mentioned them?

livinglavidavillanelle · 30/06/2019 08:03

Benji Botox costs me £220 every 4-6 months, the difference is quite something, 11's are long gone

roseinparadise · 30/06/2019 08:10

Prescription sunglasses all the way.

PalindromicUser · 30/06/2019 08:17

Delonghi bean to cup machine and wanky locally roasted coffee beans.

Good quality leather handbags.

An inexpensive, but pretty pen that is the right weight and fits my hand nicely.

And the ludicrously expensive watch I bought myself two weeks ago after a promotion, that makes me sigh a little happy sigh every time I look at it.

littlebillie · 30/06/2019 08:23

I saw Denby mentioned there is loads of it on eBay and the ranges from the 60/70s tend to be quite plain

qj17 · 30/06/2019 08:25

Cordless dyson. Expensive underlay and carpet the difference is unreal.

icannotremember · 30/06/2019 08:25

A Philips lumea. Philips are going to need to pay me for advertising soon but ho eat to goodness it is brilliant.
