Bit boring I know. But just that really ,how often do you bleach loo?.I do every night, and sometimes during day as well. Also use it for cleaning sinks and soaking items .My DS thinks my use is a bit excessive .and could be harming the enviroment .Any thoughts?

@teenmum18

Do you find it intriguing that we are all still alive. And healthy?

Maybe, just maybe, you don't need all that bleach?...

EmmaC78 · 26/06/2019 21:17

Teenmum - most people just use normal toilet cleaner I suppose. No need for bleach.

Why do you put it in your washing up?

YesQueen · 26/06/2019 21:18

Why is it filthy? My toilet is clean, it looks clean, smells clean. Job done
And I'm immunocompromised and have never caught anything from my toilet Hmm

Toilet cleaner is worse than bleach though. Least bleach is basically salt, whereas toilet cleaner has all sorts of added chemicals to make it green and smell of pine etc which are probably even more the environmental hazard.

withsexypantsandasausagedog · 26/06/2019 21:21

Teenmum- You are poisoning yourself!

yikesanotherbooboo · 26/06/2019 21:22

I have bleach but almost never use it. I haven't used it regularly for more than 30 years and am amazed that people still do ; likewise wipes!

00100001 · 26/06/2019 21:23

Well, I've never met or heard of anyone using bleach to wash up. Seems a bit ott... But hey, every is a school day!

00100001 · 26/06/2019 21:24

@teenmum18, please tell me that at least you don't mix bleach with washing up liquid? Because that would be really dangerous.

00100001 · 26/06/2019 21:26

"Teenmum- You are poisoning yourself!" Presumably she rinses it off thoroughly.

Laurajjj · 26/06/2019 21:29

As I said earlier, I bleach my toilet every other night. I do think it's bizarre some are wearing a badge of honour for admitting to not cleaning the toilet though.

CakeNinja · 26/06/2019 21:29

The cleaner squirts some down the loos once a week.
Other than that, never. I detest the smell, it turns my stomach.
In between her visits I use method toilet cleaner.

LazyFace · 26/06/2019 21:30

I don't use bleach unless the dog had a stomach issue on the floor.

teenmum18 · 26/06/2019 21:33

Yep bleach and washing up liquid. It's what people have done for years in my culture (traveller) it's just something we're brought up doing.

Hmmmbop · 26/06/2019 21:35

Laurajjj who said they don't clean their loo? There's a huge difference between not bleaching it and not cleaning it!

Laurajjj · 26/06/2019 21:49

What's the difference between bleaching and cleaning then?

Hmmmbop · 26/06/2019 21:53

I clean with cleaning solution which doesn't have bleach in it. Bleach is a chemical compound (usually sodium hypochlorite). Not all toilet cleaner/ bathroom cleaner has bleach in it.

Thisnamechanger · 26/06/2019 22:00

I don't even own bleach! I use the method kitchen spray for everything!

Deadringer · 26/06/2019 22:02

Bleach is a disinfectant, it kills germs but it doesn't actually clean.

Sakura7 · 26/06/2019 22:03

This

Laurajjj · 26/06/2019 22:04

Toilet cleaner is no more eco than bleach though. All the added chemicals to make it green and smell of pine are probably more hazardous to the environment than bleach.

Hmmmbop · 26/06/2019 22:06

Laurajjj depends what you use. Ecover, method and splosh are all fairly eco, as is a vinegar/ lemon juice combo.

LaundryIsADisease · 26/06/2019 22:08

I don't use bleach. I would be horrified if anyone was using it on the loo seat - why else would you need to squat on a non-bleach-user's loo?

I use eco friendly loo cleaner once a week in each loo and as required on top of that. They are perfectly clean.

I hate being in houses that use bleach. It stinks, ruins your clothes, makes you ill and is bad for the planet. Ditch it.

Love51 · 26/06/2019 22:12

I want to know how old the son is that voiced an opinion on your cleaning! As I'd definitely take that as in invitation to delegate toilet cleaning to him.

I'm in bleach for special occasions only camp.

Laurajjj · 26/06/2019 22:13

I have picked up those method and ecover toilet cleaners in the supermarket and debated trying them. Firstly, they are really expensive, and secondly, they don't kill germs.

Hmmmbop · 26/06/2019 22:56

Laurajjj but if you clean the germs away with cleaner and elbow grease you don't need to kill them!
