Mine was Creep by Radiohead. I thought I was so angsty and tortured

Grin

My niece is currently heartbroken and playing Lewis Capaldi on a loop.

For full on teen angst you can't beat "I believe in you" by Twisted Sister.I

"Why does no one seem to understand that it's more than love I need
It's so hard to keep your faith alive when nobody else believes
Oh, I need someone there for me, need someone who can see, need someone to show me
Oh, that they are there to help me fight, if I fall, to set me right, someone there to hold the light
Won't someone say
I believe in you

It's so hard to do it all yourself, fighting for your dreams alone
When the toy's upon the highest shelf, a child's tears soon become stone
Oh, why does no one lend a hand, why does no one understand why I need to make a stand
Oh, it's so hard to carry on when all your hope is gone, all your dreams have come undone
I need to hear
I believe in you"

Anything by Gene but listened to Olympian on a loop! Still love it, still a bit angsty!

ThomasinaandSeptimus · 16/07/2019 22:41

Garbage - Stupid Girl
All of Jagged Little Pill but especially You you you OUGHTA KNOW bellowed at the top of my lungs!

Later on as a student, Coldplay - the Scientist for first serious break up - couldn’t care less about that ex now (or Coldplay for that matter!) but even just thinking of that track cracks open a terrible ache in my heart, I spent months crying 😭

Rachelover40 · 17/07/2019 00:02

Lots of Bob Dylan.

libertyminty · 17/07/2019 00:22

Twocoffees · 23/09/2019 23:30

Mad World - Tears for Fears

Neolara · 23/09/2019 23:35

Lots of The Smiths. But I thought they were funny so they cheered me up.

Walnutwhipster · 23/09/2019 23:37

Every day is like Sunday. I lived in a seaside town.

redeyetonowheregood · 23/09/2019 23:52

The Cure - Night like this....

The Smiths - There is a light and it never goes out...

Depeche Mode - Question of Lust

Pink Floyd - Learning to Fly

theaccidentaleconomist · 23/09/2019 23:52

Tracy Chapman's self titled debut album and Deacon Blue's Raintown.

Jagged Little Pill was my twenties angst album.

PawPawNoodle · 24/09/2019 00:26

I Hate Everything About You by Three Days Grace
I'm Only Here to Disappoint by Alkaline Trio (more of a early 20s angst song but much of their earlier stuff worked!)
Saviour by Rise Against

Plus like most of the songs already listed!

BaaBaaBS · 24/09/2019 00:38

Goo goo dolls- Iris!

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 24/09/2019 00:42

Was going to say anything Alanis Morrisette but see I've been beaten to it!
Also Meredith Brooks - Bitch

Mac47 · 24/09/2019 00:54

Yes yes to the whole alanis/smiths/Radiohead thing. Plus, for a brief period summer 91, Bryan bloody Adams and also Extreme, more than words.

Treaclebee · 24/09/2019 00:55

Small black flowers that grow in the sky - manics
Actually anything by manics.
Also L7 when I was feeling angry.

The soundtrack to The Crow too. The Crow was my teenage angst movie.

FairyJuice · 24/09/2019 01:21

Nirvana- Pennyroyal Tea
Pearl Jam- Jeremy/Black
Marilyn Manson- Sweet Dreams
Smashing Pumpkins-Disarm/Bullet With Butterfly Wings
Papa Roach- Between Angels and Insects
Linkin Park- Crawling
Boxcar Racer- There Is/ Watch the World

The only ones I'd afford any musical talent to now are Pearl Jam and the Pumpkins.
