If you get a cold, what is your first symptom?

Mine is ALWAYS a sore throat. Mum's is always a headache. What's yours?

A scratchy feeling at the back of my throat.

Scratchy throat. Unless it's full blown flu - have unluckily had 4 times - which starts with achy dragging pain in thighs?!

Usually a sore throat but also a weird burning sensation in my mouth.

My cheeks get really red and hot, and I look like a tomato. And a horrible tingly feeling at the back of my nose.

When my gums start to ache, thats when I know a cold is coming.

My hearing goes funny, like I'm under water.

My skin tends to feel really sensitive. Even a duvet cover feels like it's painful when rubbing against my skin.

Then the sore throat and burning eyes.
Horrible!

My lips get really dry and sore around the outside, and it doesn't go away no matter how much lip balm I use.

I also get sore bones, usually my legs or arms.

Extreme tiredness & brain fog. Followed very soon after by sore throat. Although sometimes that's as far as it goes & I get away without it developing into anything more.

Sore throat, however I have a sore throat for about half of every month even when no cold appears to be brewing.

Spiky aches and pains.

Itchy nose and throat.

For me it usually goes

Sore throat
Tightening of chest/sore chest
Feeling tired
Sneezing
Cough

I haven’t had a cold for ages, I’m blaming you if I get one now OP.

Sore throat I think. Can't remember the last time I had a cold.

Just a plain cold is a sore throat, one that is going to have a high temperature, a very specific low back pain.

My back aches, and weirdly, my skin. My skin aches.

The joints in my hands and wrists hurt

I always lose my appetite. If I cant manage a normal amount of food at a meal time 9/10 times my temperature will spike that night and i will be poorly.

Only one person on this thread has something similar to me. I tend to get a really sensitive patch of skin on my back

I'm the same as you are found taking a good dose of antihistamines helps clear the blocked thick head feeling.

Sore eyes

Being thirsty all the time. Get it the day before I get the actual cold symptoms almost every time.

Sore throat

Dry throat that then becomes a sore throat
