Is it ludicrous to want a pet monkey?

Hi all,
I have watched the video of the monkey being reunited with the individuals who saved it, and it was so cute, and now I love monkeys and want one. Am I being absurd? The sensible part of my brain would never get one, but the (bigger) reckless part of my brain would. I know it's not feasible, but my heart has been stolen by monkeys. What do I do?

oh yes, I love dogs!

I love that the most obvious solution - the type of pet most people actually do get - is only just occurring to you as an option.

I'm a 70's kid and the little marmosets were quite a common sight back then. I knew a few families that kept them and dressed them in little suits. I have a memory they were bitey little buggers but may have dreamt that.

As an aside, a couple near me keep raccoons. They walk them on leads. The cutest things I have ever seen and I confess I came home and googled how to care for them. Cute when small but then a nightmare apparently.

DH would like a penguin. He tells me he'd keep it in the bath.
