Hand hold: DH missing after "accident"

Stickywhitelovepiss · 07/06/2019 19:20

I know it's not been long, but this is really out of character and not sure what to do next.

Rang my DH on his mobile to let him know what time I'd get in and he didn't answer - often happens so then call him on work line. His work said he'd called in on way back in after lunch saying he'd been in a car accident but was fine, and neither hide nor hair heard since. That's all I know - no indication of the severity of the accident or where he or my car (which he drives) have got to.

I've been trying him on his mobile countless times, called 101 to see if they've got him somewhere, also A&E - but no joy.

He's been off grid for about 5 hours now, when he'd normally have picked me up, got the Tesco and we'd be sitting starting our weekend. But not even a text to let me know he's not dead in a ditch, and I don't have that phone tracker either on this latest handset.

Starting to panic slightly - if anyone is around for a hand hold or some pointers as to how I can track him down that's would be much appreciated....

I watch enough Police Interceptors to know that 'incomplete' breathalyser tests are invariably done by those trying to buy themselves some time.

I was breathalysed more than 20 years ago for pulling out of a brightly lit petrol forecourt without putting my headlights back on. I blew as hard as I could to prove I was stone cold sober, and was sent on my merry way with a stern reminder to be less forgetful in future.

DaisiesAreOurSilver · 08/06/2019 13:16

A few years ago DH was stopped at one of the random breath tests things they do. He was stone cold sober but the breathalyser was faulty and kept showing incomplete despite him blowing very hard. Another police car at the place had a different one and he registered zero on that - so they can be faulty.

SparklyMagpie · 08/06/2019 13:16

@TheRedBarrows I also wondered this

QOD · 08/06/2019 13:20

Fingers crossed 🤞

Shequakes · 08/06/2019 13:21

DaisiesAreOurSilver yes they can.

But as you just said, the answer to that isnt to take 2 people to the police station for blood tests and hold then for hours on end.

FriarTuck · 08/06/2019 13:24

He's clearly really anxious about this. So should he have reason to be?
Frequently the people with the least reason to be anxious are the ones who worry the most about these sort of things. I'd be panicking that they'd have got my results mixed up with someone else or something, despite not having had a drink since Christmas...

theemmadilemma · 08/06/2019 13:29

@FriarTuck

Yes, the only other explanation I can find is that being ex Forces, he's a real stand up kind of guy and hates the insinuation he would have done anything wrong and freaked a bit.

I suppose at an outside chance anxiety could have made it difficult to blow.

But my bet's really not on that.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 08/06/2019 13:31

It's like the script that cheaters whi get caught cheating do - deny, deny, deny, then when cornered/faced with evil they'll reveal the bare minimum, etc. He's lying.

Also not sure about most places of work but would being arrested/convicted impact his job? Again I'm not knowledgeable about this.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 08/06/2019 13:32

Faced with evidence not evil ffs 🤦‍♀️😂

theemmadilemma · 08/06/2019 13:34

Apologies OP that was a bad choice of words.

You know him better than anyone if you think it could be genuine anxiety that took over then it's worth considering for sure.

hmsvictory · 08/06/2019 13:36

Op he lied.

It's possible he was drink driving and challenged by another driver. The driver might have become threatening so he called the police as he was scared so rather risk failing breath test than be attacked?

Why would he be so emotional if he had nothing to worry about?

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 08/06/2019 13:40

OP why are you listening to everyone on here?

Trust your husband. You say he's never lied and he's a stand up person.
So stop listening to these eejits and stop questioning your upset and shaken husband!

OP, I think you need to remember that if you hadn't posted on here you'd just be grateful right now that he's home safe.

Whilst there's useful insight from police officers here there's also a lot of people who just like the drama.

I hope everything works out OK.

Desmondo2016 · 08/06/2019 13:57

Sounds like he was nicked for fail to provide, or section 4 at the roadside then was one of those idiots who thinks he can fool the system by pretending to have a lung condition or something! And I maintain that the chances of both drivers being nicked at 3pm is ludicrously small!!

Unfortunately OP this story will grow legs until eventually the truth will come out. I'm so sorry he's done this to you.

Ummmm might there just be a chance that he's telling the truth. So much conclusion jumping going on. I wonder if that's because it would make it a far juicier thread than the actual truth.

If he hasn't got form for lying previously and you trust him then go with your instincts op. You know him. No one posting on this thread does.

Random shit happens to people sometimes.

hmsvictory · 08/06/2019 14:09

0816 : but that he wasn't ever arrested and wasn't put in the cells

1013 he was arrested

🤥

theemmadilemma · 08/06/2019 14:19

Did they both have blood tests? Because it sounds like at one point he's saying they both were tested?

For example they both couldn't blow and therefore the machine was faulty?

That would answer a large question for OP.

If it was only him who got the incomplete blow...

fedup21 · 08/06/2019 14:24

So he was arrested?!

BeckyWithTheSplitEnds · 08/06/2019 14:40

I remember reading once that when arrested - a guilty person would sleep soundly in the custody suite - and the innocent person would pace the cell and be far too anxious to do much of anything - I was reminded of that as OP said he fell asleep soundly last night when he got home.

I'd love to know the police's thoughts on that - is it something you observe at work?

OP, I do hope it can all come out. If he has PTSD I don't think it'd be beyond the realms of possibility that he's dulling it all with alcohol. :(

Stickywhitelovepiss · 08/06/2019 14:42

Some major speculation going on here! Drink problem, prostitution, lunch time affairs!

I get it's not good. Believe me I do - I am listening. The blood test results will ultimately tell me what I need to know - rather than trusting to OH's word alone. If they come back as positive, I know what I'll need to do.

Yes, his anxiety is a major factor in this in terms of his reaction this morning.

OP posts:
theemmadilemma · 08/06/2019 14:43

To quote OP:

*So OH spoke to the police station with me on speaker phone.

He was arrested for suspicion of drink driving, and had now dug out the paperwork to that effect.*

So the Police had good reason to believe he was under the influence.

They have good noses...

theemmadilemma · 08/06/2019 14:44

xpost.

That's good to hear OP. I can genuinely also understand how anxiety could be a huge factor.
