Hand hold: DH missing after "accident"

I know it's not been long, but this is really out of character and not sure what to do next.

Rang my DH on his mobile to let him know what time I'd get in and he didn't answer - often happens so then call him on work line. His work said he'd called in on way back in after lunch saying he'd been in a car accident but was fine, and neither hide nor hair heard since. That's all I know - no indication of the severity of the accident or where he or my car (which he drives) have got to.

I've been trying him on his mobile countless times, called 101 to see if they've got him somewhere, also A&E - but no joy.

He's been off grid for about 5 hours now, when he'd normally have picked me up, got the Tesco and we'd be sitting starting our weekend. But not even a text to let me know he's not dead in a ditch, and I don't have that phone tracker either on this latest handset.

Starting to panic slightly - if anyone is around for a hand hold or some pointers as to how I can track him down that's would be much appreciated....

at least you now know OP Flowers

QuimReaper · 08/06/2019 12:14

As OP says though, if he'd been drink driving he'd be a douche to call the police!

CherieBabySpliffUp · 08/06/2019 12:16

Was that an android phone @trotesio

WifOfBif · 08/06/2019 12:22

Another one confirming that 999 calls do show. Mine is an iPhone.

Not a PO but I have insight in another area and honestly OP, every post and new bit of information screamed, he's got a daytime drink problem to me.

Your version of his drinking habits may not be true. People with alcohol issues are sneaky and very often very good it. They spend a lot of mental load hiding it.

The only thing which confuses me is his calling 999. But I can see a situation where he felt he had to and then realised what was going to happen, so he tried to delay, delay, delay.

That makes sense to me.

theemmadilemma · 08/06/2019 12:35

If you get some time, look for hiding places. Bags, backs of cupboards, places you wouldn't usually look in often, but he can easily get to. Behind bedheads - yes. Don't necessarily look for alcohol bottles either. Any plastic bottles are worth checking if they don't appears to contain what they should.

Divinelyuninspired · 08/06/2019 12:35

If he was arrested he would have to hand over all his belongings, empty pockets etc.

HollowTalk · 08/06/2019 12:40

I'm another who thinks there's a lot more to this than you think, OP.

theemmadilemma · 08/06/2019 12:40

'Gets groggy from daytime drinking' - I wasn't expecting to drink WITH YOU today, and I've already had my lot so now I'm feeling a little more loaded than normal....

Shequakes · 08/06/2019 12:42

QuimReaper not always.

Some people genuinely think they are under the limit so it doesnt matter. So people are so arrogant, they think they might be a bit over, but can hide it from the police.

Given the husband thought he could pull the wool over his wifes eyes, when it's obvious he was lying, might suggest he called the police and never considered he would be over the limit or that they could tell he had been drinking.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 08/06/2019 12:42

Re: PP who says 999 calls don't record in call history- I have an iPhone and mine do.

Mine do too. There's no reason for 999 calls not to show in call history, unless they've been deleted.

hellenbackagen · 08/06/2019 12:44

When people are kissed their judgement is off and they do very stupid things like drive and then call 999 when they hit another car 🤷🏻‍♀️

EggysMom · 08/06/2019 12:44

Just to throw my experience into the breathalyser debate, about 12 years ago I was a passenger in a car that was hit head-on by a car swinging wide on a bend. Other driver was clearly intoxicated, driver of my car was not (XH, we'd been staying with rellies, I knew his movements). Police breathalysed both drivers and said they had to do this so as to be fair to both sides.

hellenbackagen · 08/06/2019 12:44

Pissed not kissed

theemmadilemma · 08/06/2019 12:51

An alcoholic might very well not have been thinking clearly in that situation.

And could yes be stupid enough to not think that they would be tested or just not being thinking through what would happen after that call.

I can see this happening.

Please check around the house OP and consider this is a real possibility.

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 08/06/2019 12:52

an accident so bad one driver totally lost his rag, yet there is no visible damage to your car

someone kicking off so much that the public called the police

your dh in the police station not under arrest, just supervised but blood tests and incommunicado till late evening

C'mon OP, there is much more going on here than a simple shunt and a face to face chatette down the station!

theemmadilemma · 08/06/2019 12:53

And and the car. Check the boot if you don't usually. Since you share it's unlikely but...

hellenbackagen · 08/06/2019 12:58

At any rtc all drivers tend to get a road side breath test .

FriarTuck · 08/06/2019 12:59

someone kicking off so much that the public called the police
Er OP's DH called 999, but don't let that stop your story-telling... Hmm

theemmadilemma · 08/06/2019 13:01

I'm wittering now, but OP how much did you drink the night before that you think he'd genuinely be worried about over the limit at around 3pm the next day to delay a breath test. And I think we all know he did.

He's clearly really anxious about this. So should he have reason to be?

Because if he doesn't from the night before. I think you do have you answer. Sorry.

theemmadilemma · 08/06/2019 13:02

Plus if he was, he shouldn't have driven to work in the morning in the first fucking place.

Starlight456 · 08/06/2019 13:07

I was hit by a lorry in a rta. Police attendedas round about was blocked. I was breathalised . Asked when I had last had a drink. It had been about a week earlier.

However it wasn’t challenging to blow into it.

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 08/06/2019 13:07

Jesus Christ, does he need any more spades to keep digging this hole?

OP I think he’s very lucky thst you are being as magnanimous as this.
If he’s charged then can He still work? Worse still, will he lose his job?

LIZS · 08/06/2019 13:07

Or maybe his 999 call was to cancel the police attendance?

TheRedBarrows · 08/06/2019 13:09

I wonder whether he was the one who completely lost his rag and became emotionally overwhelmed?

Given his ADs, Forces past. Would a minor accident trigger anything for him, OP?
