Hand hold: DH missing after "accident"

I know it's not been long, but this is really out of character and not sure what to do next.

Rang my DH on his mobile to let him know what time I'd get in and he didn't answer - often happens so then call him on work line. His work said he'd called in on way back in after lunch saying he'd been in a car accident but was fine, and neither hide nor hair heard since. That's all I know - no indication of the severity of the accident or where he or my car (which he drives) have got to.

I've been trying him on his mobile countless times, called 101 to see if they've got him somewhere, also A&E - but no joy.

He's been off grid for about 5 hours now, when he'd normally have picked me up, got the Tesco and we'd be sitting starting our weekend. But not even a text to let me know he's not dead in a ditch, and I don't have that phone tracker either on this latest handset.

Starting to panic slightly - if anyone is around for a hand hold or some pointers as to how I can track him down that's would be much appreciated....

hollow
because they suspected he was pissed or off his tits?

Nicknacky · 07/06/2019 21:13

Hey hellen

hellenbackagen · 07/06/2019 21:14

op
id also find out where the car is. if police recovered it it will incur a daily charge.

HelenRivington · 07/06/2019 21:17

He must think you fell off a Christmas tree.

Stickywhitelovepiss · 07/06/2019 21:17

Certainly not drugs. Just got a message he is being driven home - have asked where car is.

Thank you for the support and honesty on this thread. I promise not to leave the thread, but need to get something to eat and take stock for a bit before he gets in.

I will report back.

Am also wondering how someone reverses into someone else and doesn't cause any damage to either car Hmm

Kedgeree · 07/06/2019 21:18

Just because he says he's had a car accident doesn't mean that's the truth. If he is in custody, and that certainly appears to be the case, it may be for something entirely unconnected with the car and the car story is a load of BS he's made up because it's relatively trivial and will keep you reasonably calm for now.

Yes, he gave you that tale over the phone with a police officer in earshot, but that officer isn't going to intervene in the conversation to contradict him and tell you what's really going on because they can't do that. It's quite possible that the officer (who has literally heard it ALL before) was standing there rolling his / her eyes at the fantastic yarn that your DH was spinning you.

I'd suspend all belief until you get a report from someone without an agenda i.e. not DH.

OnTheEdgeOfTheNight · 07/06/2019 21:18

Are you thinking of going to the station? As others have said, you may see or hear something pertinent if you're there when he is released. Otherwise, maybe you should practice a few phrases for when he arrives home, and don't deviate from them :
"We both know that's not true."
"That's not how the police treat a witness."
Etc.
One fact that he can't deny is that he called his office and didn't call you. That just doesn't make sense, does it?

JustAnotherWoman · 07/06/2019 21:19

If the car is yours the police should tell you where it is, suggest you get a look at it asap and definitely before he can, might give you some info

Thursday4567852 · 07/06/2019 21:19

Car “might” have been recovered by police OP so could be in a recovery garage... if it it get it ASAP as the costs mount up quickly.

iklboo · 07/06/2019 21:20

Is it usual for the police to drive you home?

Desmondo2016 · 07/06/2019 21:22

Not generally unless there's concerns or no money for public transport.

hellenbackagen · 07/06/2019 21:22

i usually drive prisoners home yes but not always and not if they dont want a lift.

StealthPolarBear · 07/06/2019 21:23

He called IN to the office. I assumed r
That was after the accident but before what happened happened. Clearly that's not his story now.

hellenbackagen · 07/06/2019 21:23

but im one of those nice arm strokey cops. and custody usual ask me to take them home.

our custody sgts are soft too....!

Desmondo2016 · 07/06/2019 21:24

@hellenbackagen you're obviously a much nicer cop than I Grin

My prisoners can make their own way home!

clairethewitch70 · 07/06/2019 21:26

Do you think he may have had a fight with the other person? Definately something extra going on. What about concern over his mental health? Could they have got him assessed?

nestertables · 07/06/2019 21:26

@hellenbackagen arm strokey cops made me laugh! You don't get too many of them around!

Ifeelinclined · 07/06/2019 21:27

Oh OP. I'm so sorry. No advice, but here for a handhold.

hellenbackagen · 07/06/2019 21:27

Grin desmondo

i CAN play bad cop when i need to....

Nicknacky · 07/06/2019 21:28

I don’t drive mine home unless I really have to!

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 07/06/2019 21:28

Glad he's been found op, I'm sorry you've got tough conversations to be had!

hellenbackagen · 07/06/2019 21:30

WeeDangerousSpike · 07/06/2019 21:30

As the car belongs to OP would she be able to get info related to why it was impounded (if it is) that would shed some light on the situation with her DH?

bluebluezoo · 07/06/2019 21:31

What about concern over his mental health? Could they have got him assessed?

In custody? Which would be the logical place to take a person with mh issues rather than say, a hospital or acute mh unit?

No there is only one reason you get taken to custody, you’re under arrest.

If you aren’t under arrest you’ll be taken somewhere more appropriate, be that an interview room to take more details or a hospital for assesment. Or sent home.

Sorry o/p, he’s been arrested, so there will have been reason to suspect he’s committed an offence.
