I’m a huge ER fan and this year marks 10 years since it ended and 25 years since it started. It was an amazing show with great storylines and a great cast as well as very good guest stars.
So I just wanted to see if there are any other super fans out there. Who’s your fave dr, nurse? Fave episodes? Storyline....

My fave characters were. Doug Ross, Carol Hathaway, Luka Kovac, John carter, ray Barnett, gregg Pratt and Neela rasgotra

My fave episodes were the one where Ross rescues the kid from the storm drain, the one where Carol realises she’s still in love with Ross, the one where dr green causes a mass shooting due to his interference with a father and son, marks last days, the one when Carter goes to the Congo to find Luka, the one where the helicopter falls on top of Romano, the one where Neela finds out about rays accident, the one where gregg is in a the ambulance blast.

So if you can remember share your faves 😊

We were watching all episodes in order. We've got nearer the end where its just Luka and Abbey bumbling about and I'm not sure I've got the heart to finish it (again). It was one of the best things on TV.

PutyourtoponTrevor · 07/06/2019 08:27

Hated Abby, she was such an emotional vacuum, she made Luca and Carter bloody miserable. Loved Mark & Elizabeth together, and Rampage was a brilliant episode. Loved Archie and he provided lots of light relief, also loved Ray, hated the way Neela played him and Gates against each other. Loved Susan, she was so funny and I always wanted her and Mark to get together.

I have every episode on DVD and regularly re-watch

PutyourtoponTrevor · 07/06/2019 08:33

And the episode with Ray Liotta was brilliant

@HaroldsSocalledBluetits

Thank you! I was watching it on a Freeview channel (can't remember which one) but I was so disappointed when they got to about season 5 and then started all over again, and then just stopped!

shellysheridan · 07/06/2019 09:39

Loved er. My favourite relationship was Benton and Carter. When Carter spiralled into drug addiction and Benton took his on the plane to rehab is my favourite episode. Benton was always tough on Carter but was always there for him. Loved both characters. Complex

HaroldsSocalledBluetits · 07/06/2019 09:42

Yy carter and Benson was a proper bromance.

FenellaMaxwell · 07/06/2019 10:03

Oh I love it. I rewatched every episode when I was on my early days of mat leave and chained to the sofa by my newborn.

I love Jerry - he was such a great character! Favourite characters were Carter and Carol. One of the best episodes I think was the one where Ewan McGregor takes hostages in the corner shop. And the Ray Liotta episode. And the one where Morris and Gates organise the dance for the heart transplant patients.

Butterymuffin · 07/06/2019 10:03

Re watched it all when Sky Atlantic were showing it daily a few years ago and found a whole new appreciation for Benton. First time round he'd seemed like the annoying perfectionist who was mean to floppy haired Carter. So much more there. The other great characters for me were Mark, Susan and Kerry. I feel much more as I get older for the characters trying to be responsible, sensible and do the right thing but get jeered at by others for being square, rather than the rebels against the system like Doug. That said, one of my all time favourite episodes is Mark and Doug's road trip after Doug's dad dies.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 07/06/2019 10:10

carter and Benson was a proper bromance

I remember someone saying the relationship at the heart of ER was not Doug and Carol but Benton and Carter, and it's true.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 07/06/2019 10:18

When Dr Greene died was the first time I sobbed at a tv programme too. I loved ER

Disfordarkchocolate · 07/06/2019 10:25

Ross and the storm drain is the best thing I have ever seen on TV, I never felt so much tension watching something.

Hmmmbop · 07/06/2019 10:51

It was a masterpiece. I like Hathaway, Corday and Carter best. I think the best episode is when carter and Lucy get stabbed. I think it covered some really important issues really well.

I rewatched it recently. I find the medical stuff fascinating and find it interesting to compare it to Grey's Anatomy (medically) it shows how medicine has advanced. In a (fairly late) episode of ER they try to get funding for an L-VAD device which is new and relatively untested, in Grey's an L-VAD is fairly common place.

Xmas2020 · 07/06/2019 11:24

When Mark passed away i was heartbroken! I loved ER.

DonPablo · 07/06/2019 11:28

The very end when they welcome the new Dr Green. The tears!

Myusernameismud · 07/06/2019 11:39

I wonder if my love of Luka and Abby is partly to do with the fact that when ER first started I was only 8! I think I really started watching it from s 10, and didn't watch the earlier seasons until after I'd finished s15 so when I think of ER now, the first characters I think of are Abby, Luka, Neela, Ray, Pratt, Gates etc.

CurbsideProphet · 07/06/2019 11:48

Some parts have stayed with me for years.

When Carter was stabbed and fell to the floor he looked under the stretcher at Lucy, who was terrified and bleeding.

Carter and his wife spreading the ashes of their baby Sad

Mark dying Sad

I could watch it all again!

ChipsAreLife · 07/06/2019 11:57

Absolutely love e.r.

I hated Benton when I was younger but love him now.

My fab moments are

Romano signing to Reece begins Benton's back.

The ep where the dad has to decide if he harvests his dying child's organs to save his other child. Elizabeth sits on the floor with him and talks about mark dying. I well yo thinking about it.

Carter and Lucy getting stabbed

Small pox

Hang dying

Abby's mum. What a performance by Sally Field when she comes in manic to the hospital. They did a lot with mental health and were ahead of their time

ChipsAreLife · 07/06/2019 11:58

Hang dying lol. I meant Gant*

Mummabear2212 · 07/06/2019 12:04

Funnily enough I'm re watching them now having bought them after watching some on CBS. I only watched a handful as a teen after my DM never missed an episode. I'm part way through S11 and never have I laughed, cried and cared so much about fictional characters. Some episodes are so distressing to watch and others full of hope. Mark Greene dying, drain storm, Lucy and Carter's stabbing, Carter and Kem's still born.... so many are my favourites! Only as an adult do I realise how ahead of it's time this series was.

Mummabear2212 · 07/06/2019 12:06

Benson's court case for Reese, Susan giving up baby Susie. Theres so many that have moved me in one way or another. I can keep going Grin but I wont!

ExpletiveDelighted · 07/06/2019 12:22

The first episode I ever saw was that one with Ewan Macgregor holding up the corner shop with Carol in it. I was instantly hooked and watched till the very end, only watching the first couple of seasons afterwards. So many memorable moments. I liked Neela but didn't like the way she had men falling over themselves for her. DIdn't like Sam very much. Didn't like it when Luka went off the rails a bit and started shagging patients. Two helicopter incidents for Romano was a bit too far-fetched. I did like Luka and Abbey and wanted them to end up together.

Best parts? The storm drain, Mark's death, Carter and Luka going to Sudan, Pratt's death, Abbey's mother. The Carter and Lucy stabbing. An episode where Carter and Luka were locked in a classroom together, can't remember why.

Dragonlight · 07/06/2019 12:39

I'd forgotten Carter and Benton in Sudan where they and their medical party got held up. One person shot and the others only saved because Carter had treated his brother. Very powerful.

Dragonlight · 07/06/2019 12:43

The classroom one was Abbey and Susan too I think. They'd been caught messing around with a patient's belongings and sent on a weekend disciplinary course (I think).

Hadenoughofitall441 · 07/06/2019 13:27

@expletivedelighted
Carter and Luka were locked in a classroom but they weren't alone. They were with Susan, Abby and gallant because a patient had come into the ER and they went through thier belongings (full of sex toys) and having a laugh about it and Kerry caught them so sent them to a sexual harrSsment course.
@shellysheridan
I like that episode too, I did love thier bromance.... I also liked when Benton had kidney stones and carter got to take them out 😂😂

I was only 6 when it came out. I actually only started watching it when Carol gave birth (I was 10) I had seen bits and pieces before hand as my mum watched it so I knew about George Clooney. So when Carol and Doug reunited I was hooked, I then thought the main couple was Abby and Luka until I was 16 and they repeated it and I became obsessed with Doug and Carol... I remember being at school after the episode where Luka was missing and me and a few classmates spent the whole RE lesson discussing what we think had happened 😂😂 I was 14 then...
