Would you serve lasagna with baked potatoes?

Prompted by a conversation with my parents..

I would serve lasagna (the traditional meat version) with a side salad and possibly garlic bread.
My parents like to serve it with a (large) baked potato. I reckon this is far too much stodge and you shouldn't serve lasagna with baked potato, but my parents reckon they have been to many restaurants that served it thus.

How do you like your lasagna?

With salad and garlic bread. Some people have lasagne and chips and I always thought that was too much stodge. God knows why you’d have it with a jacket potato.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 02/06/2019 17:05

Like you serve it.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/06/2019 17:06

With a nice salad. Bread too (to mop up) but I love bread.

Too carby with a jacket potato

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 02/06/2019 17:06

Yep I would serve with salad and garlic bread.
But restaurants serve with chips.
They also serve macaroni cheese with chips.

Jemineye · 02/06/2019 17:06

Nope. Already got the carbs in there with the pasta.. I serve either salad or peas/other green with it.

PickAChew · 02/06/2019 17:07

Nope. I just serve it with veg or salad.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 02/06/2019 17:07

I’ve never seen it in any restaurant with a jacket potato. They’ve spun a web of lies to support their weirdness Grin

RedSheep73 · 02/06/2019 17:07

No, I wouldn't serve any additional carbs with lasagne, it's got pasta in it! but I do serve huge portions of it...

ItStartedWithAKiss241 · 02/06/2019 17:09

I actually love lasagne with roast potatoes but I get that’s highly unusual x

Banhaha · 02/06/2019 17:10

Just a nice side salad.

Grumpbum123 · 02/06/2019 17:12

I would prefer it with just salad but if someone else had cooked it I would eat what I was given without comment

WhereForArtThouBray · 02/06/2019 17:12

Either green beans or salad and garlic bread or dough balls.

LittleAndOften · 02/06/2019 17:12

Just on its own. I always think if a pub does it with chips they must be compensating for small portions!

I've never come across a jacket with lasagne. That's like two meals!

User1928384 · 02/06/2019 17:12

With potato wedges and peas

Bluerussian · 02/06/2019 17:13

I might, don't usually but sounds nice even if it is a lot of starch.

bonzo77 · 02/06/2019 17:13

Umm with chips. Like you do with pizza.

KaleidoscopeEyes · 02/06/2019 17:14

It's double carbs if you have garlic bread with it though, despite the salad!

Bubblysqueak · 02/06/2019 17:14

I serve it with peas.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/06/2019 17:15

I couldn’t eat that much heavy food. Each to his own but I don’t think the stomach is able to process it well!

TonTonMacoute · 02/06/2019 17:15

Christ no!

Salad.

daisypond · 02/06/2019 17:15

No, I wouldn’t serve with potato.

AdaColeman · 02/06/2019 17:16

I often serve lasagna on its own, occasionally with a green salad, but never with chips, baked potato or garlic bread. To me, it's quite a substantial dish that doesn't need anything extra served with it.

TheFallenMadonna · 02/06/2019 17:17

Are potatoes stodgier than garlic bread?

isthatabloborwhat · 02/06/2019 17:17

Usually with salad, but I have been known to have chips as well.
